1. Introduction
The Sealer Lance LD 40, developed by SABA, has been designed for
using SABA Sealer Field in applications like sealing expansion joints at
airports.
The Sealer Lance LD 40 should be used in combination with a pressure
tank and a compressor and a power unit on a cart.
2. Using the Sealer Lance LD 40: work specifications
Read these specifications carefully before starting to assemble the equipment, so that safe use is
guaranteed. Customers and users should assess and check the equipment themselves for the desired
application and demands. We are not responsible if the equipment is used without consideration of our
advice and/or conditions for use.
1. Check if the set supplied is complete and that all specified parts comply.
2. The parts of the LD 40 which come into contact with the SABA Sealer Field should be coated in
Vaseline to ease cleaning.
3. For safe use of the LD 40 it is advisable to not exceed a maximum working pressure of 6 Bar.
(The factory safety instructions must be taken into consideration.)
4. WARNING! All parts should be assembled and fixed before the equipment is pressurized; in view of
the outflow speed we advise that the starting pressure is not too high.
5. Turn the hose socket (F) under the pressure tank and then connect the PVC hose (B) to the hose
socket (F) and fasten it with the hose clamp (E).
6. The PVC hose (B) between the LD 40 Sealer Lance and the pressure tank may have a maximum
length of 3.0 metres.
7. Then fix the PVC hose (B) to the spray unit (A) and fasten it with a hose clamp (E) as well.
8. Fix the grey Cox nozzle (D) onto the spray unit (A) of the LD 40 (see photo).
9. Cut the spray opening of the grey Cox nozzle (D) to fit the width of the joint.

10. Place the whole installation on a wagon and/or cart, including the compressor and the power unit.
The wagon and/or cart, the compressor and the power unit are not supplied by SABA.
11. Check speed and direction of revolution of the mixing equipment before opening the SABA Sealer
Field.
12. We advise that an inliner bag is placed in the pressure tank before it is filled with SABA Sealer Field
(photos 1 to 6).

13. After the SABA Sealer Field is mixed it can be poured into the inliner bag in the pressure tank.
14. Check that the tap above the sealer lance is closed before you bring the pressure tank up to working
pressure. Minimum 2.0 Bar depending on the required speed of outflow.
15. The outflow can be started and stopped by means of the tap on the top of the LD 40.
16. There is a chance of spluttering if the pressure tank is almost empty; at the first indication close tap
immediately and refill the pressure tank.
17. When refilling mix new tins of SABA Sealer Field first, and then de-pressurize and open the pressure
tank.

18. Pour the prepared tins of SABA Sealer Field into the used inliner bag, close pressure tank and follow
procedure from point 14 once again.
3. Maintenance
Remove hose, nozzle and inliner bag after using the LD 40. Then clean all the parts and conduits thoroughly
with SABA Cleaner 22 and grease the cleaned parts with Vaseline.
Hose, nozzle and inliner bag are intended for single use and must be thrown away after use. Replace the
retaining ring (C) or grease well if necessary.
(WARNING! do not leave retaining rings in SABA Cleaner 22)
4. Specifications of starter set for Sealer Lance LD 40
The starter set contains the following products:

Sealing ring Ø 15 mm (C) 10 items
Grey Cox Nozzle (D) 50 items

The products will be supplied once by SABA (in the starter set).

5. Accessories
The pressure tank and compressor will not be supplied by SABA. The suppliers and specifications below
apply to the equipment used by the SABA Application Team during the development and testing of the LD
40. The use of similar equipment from other manufacturers is possible at your own risk.
