Installation and Operation
Operating your SGM Mic
After you plug in the SGM mic and the green LED
comeson,youarereadytoadjustthemic'slevelon
yourmixer.Themiccapsuleisdesignedtoworkbest
whentheuserisbetween3and6inchesawayfrom
themic.Setyourlevelsforanormalspeakingvoiceat
thosedistances.
UsetheincludedPhantomscrewdrivertooltoadjust
thesettingsonyourSGMmic.
Infrared Gate
Theheat-sensingIRsensorisintegratedintothehous-
ingofthemiccapsule.Thissensorreactstochanges
in body heat, so when a person gets in front of the
micitwillturnonthemic.Whenapersonwalksaway
fromthemic,thesensorwillturnthemicoff.Donot
blockthesensorwithanythingoryouwilldefeatthe
sensingaction.
Controls: Time and Range, or Disable the Gate
TIME: Setthetimeittakestoturnoffthemicafter
someonewalksawayfromthemic.
Settings:5,10,or15seconds.Defaultis10seconds.
Control:AmomentarypushoftheIRGatecontrol
buttonrevealsthecurrentsetting.Pressagainto
cycletothenextsetting.Repeattocyclebacktothe
beginning.
Indicator:Thethree-colorLEDwillashredonce

Installing your SGM Mic
SGM mics without integrated bases are terminated
withastandardmaleXLRconnector.Installtheseby
simplypluggingthemintooneofthefollowing:
•Existing microphone base.Ifyourbasehasaswitch
toenableordisablephantompower,makesureitisset
toallowphantompowerfromyourmixer.Ifthebase
hasaninternalbatteryforphantompowermakesure
youkeepgoodbatteriesinstalled.
•Existing shock-mount plate or ush-mount female
XLR connector.
•Sabine shock-mount platemodelsSGM-SMP45-T
or SGM-SMP45-S. For installation instructions on
thesemodels,pleaseseetheguidethatcomeswith
thisaccessory.
Verify Operation
IfyourSGMmicispluggedinproperlyandphantom
poweristurnedoninyourmixeryouwillseetheSGM's
LEDturngreen.

Operating your SGM Mic
After you plug in the SGM mic and the green LED

yourmixer.Themiccapsuleisdesignedtoworkbest

themic.Setyourlevelsforanormalspeakingvoiceat

Infrared Gate
Theheat-sensingIRsensorisintegratedintothehousing
ofthemiccapsule.Thissensorreactstochangesin
bodyheat,sowhenapersongetsinfrontofthemicit
willturnonthemic.Whenapersonwalksawayfrom
themic,thesensorwillturnthemicoff.Donotblock
thesensororyouwilldefeatthesensingaction.
