displaysupport.Beforeinstallingthedrivers,checkyourdealerfirstiftheyhavealready
installedall thedriversalongwiththeoperatingsystem.

3.4HowtoAccess theCD-ROMDrive
YouwouldnormallyusetheCD-ROMdriveforinstallingoperatingsystemandsoftwareappli-
cationprograms.Unlikethetwodiskdrives,youcanonlyreadfromtheCD-ROMdrive.
TheCD-ROMdriveisfoundinfrontofthecomputer.Toinsertandremoveadisconthedrive:
1.Makesurethecomputeristurnedon.Press theejectbuttonfoundonthedoorcoverof
theCD-ROMdrive.TheCDtraymechanismwill pop-outslightlyandslowlypull the
wholelengthofthetrayout.
3.1Starting YourOperating System
Theoperatingsystemisamustingredientinusingyourcomputer.Withoutanoperatingsystem,
itislikeplayingchess withoutthechessboard.Itistheplatformforall yoursoftwareapplication
programstorunon.ThemostpopularoperatingsystemtodayisMicrosoft Windows.Youshould
haveoneinstalledbyyourdealerunless youareanexpertcomputeruserandwouldneedamore
powerfuloperatingsystem.Ifyouhaveanoperatingsystemalreadyinstalledinyourcomputer,
thenyouwouldbeup andrunningafteryoupoweronyourcomputerandbootup thesystem.
Checkyouroperatingsystemmanualonhowtorunit.
3.2Using theExternalFloppyDiskDrive
Theexternalfloppydiskdriveisprobablyoneofthemostusedlegacydevicesonacomputer.
TheotherdiskdrivesonyourcomputeraretheharddiskdriveandtheCD-ROMdrive.Disk
drivesaredesignatedwithdriveletterswiththefloppydriveusuallyassignedasDriveA:andthe
harddriveandCD-ROMdriveasDriveC:andDriveD:respectively.
Theexternalfloppydiskdrive(FDD)ofyourcomputerisattachedintotheparallelport.You
mustusethecorrectcabletoattachtheexternalFDD.
Insertthediskettewiththearrowandlabelfacingup andtheshuttercovertowardsthedrive.
Slidethedisketteintothedriveuntil itistotallyinsertedandtheejectbuttonpopsout.Remember
toformatnewdiskettesfirstusingyouroperatingsystembeforeyoucanuseit.Toejector
removethediskette,makesurethatthesystemisnotaccessingthediskettedrive.

3.5Using theBuilt-inModem
Yourcomputerincludesabuilt-inmodemforconnectingtotheInternet.Youneedto
haveanInternetService Provider(ISP)accountfirsttobeabletoaccess theInternet.The
internalmodemisastandard56Kbpsdata/faxmodemwhichcanalsobeusedtosendand
receivefaxes.Theinternalmodemisfoundatthebackofyourcomputer.
Beforeyoucanusetheinternalmodem,youneedfirsttoinstall thedevice driver.Askyour
dealerfirstiftheinternalmodemdriverisalreadysetup properly.Ifnot,youcanfollowthe
stepsbelowforinstallingthemodemdriver.
Toinstall themodemdevice driver:
1.MakesuretheinternalmodemmoduleisalreadyattachedinsideyourPC.
2.Once yourinternalmodemisassembled,poweronyourPCandbootWindows.

Yourcomputerincludesabuilt-in10/100MbpsEthernettoconnecttotheInternet.Youneedto
contactyournetworkmanagerfordomainfirsttobeabletoaccess theInternet/Intranetand
remotelinkstotheoutsideworld(WAN).TheRJ45 Portisfoundattheleft sideofyourcomputer.
BeforeyoucanusetheinternalLAN,youneedfirsttoinstall thedevice driver.Askyourdealer
firstiftheinternalLANdriverisalreadysetup properly.Ifnot,youcanfollowthestepsbelow
forLANdriverinstallation(refertochapter2.7).
