Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a 87480 digital ca era. Everything you need to take quality digital
photos is included with your ca era. Please read this anual carefully FIRST in order to get the
ost out of your digital ca era.

Caution:
For atting will delete all the data on the SD Me ory Card.
Do not re ove the SD Me ory Card during for atting as this ay da age the card and
render it unusable.
For atting will delete protected data too.
SD Me ory Cards for atted on a PC or device other than the ca era cannot be used. Be sure
to for at the card with the ca era.

When you change batteries, all the data in the built-in e ory will be deleted if no SD Me ory
Card has been inserted in the ca era.
DO NOT switch odes or rotate the Mode dial if your ca era is connected to the printer when
using PictBridge.

There are 4 odes on your DV ca era. To select ode turn the dial so the
correct icon is visible.

will turn your ca era off.

Preparing Your Camera for Use
Battery Installation
Your ca era requires two AA batteries. Insert the batteries into the ca era:
1. Slide the cover of the battery co part ent open.
2. Please ake sure that the correct battery is inserted with the correct polarity facing up.
3. Please refer to the diagra below for the correct insertion ethod
4. Close battery door
WARNING: Unless you are using an SD e ory card, opening the battery co part ent and/or
re oving the battery will erase the photos currently stored in the ca era. Download your photos
as often as possible. Photos ay be lost when the battery runs low.

When the Low Battery icon is flashing, you need to replace your ca era’s batteries. If you do
not have an SD e ory card in the ca era, please download any photos you have on the ca era
before opening the battery co part ent.
Note: If you do not intend to use your ca era for an extended period, re ove the batteries to avoid
battery leakage and corrosion.
Installing an Optional Memory Card
Your ca era has a e ory card slot that enables
you to insert any “SD” co patible e ory card.
Adding a e ory card will allow you to increase
the capacity of your DV ca era before you have
to transfer photos/videos to a PC. Photos and
videos stored in this anner will not be lost
regardless of any change in battery power.
Note: Li ited internal e ory is provided for test i ages. Those i ages ay be deleted when
ca era power is turned off. SD e ory card is required for nor al use.
Installing the SD Memory Card:
1. Locate the Me ory card slot (on the botto of the ca era) as illustrated above.
2. Insert the e ory card into the slot, label side down and etal contacts up.
3. Push the card in until you feel it "click" into position. The top of the card should be flush
with the surface of the ca era. A “C” icon will be visible on the LCD screen (to the left of
the battery indicator) indicating that an external e ory card is installed.
4. Once an external e ory card is inserted in the ca era all the i ages taken will be
stored on the external e ory card

Starting Your Camera
Press and hold the On/Off button to start the ca era. The LCD screen will light up and the
ca era will sound a beep. This will confir that your ca era is on and ready for use.
Camera Mode
Set the ode dial to Ca era Mode – the icon will appear on your LCD screen.
Taking Photos
You can co pose your shot using either LCD screen or the view finder.
1. Hold the ca era steady and press the shutter button to take photo. There will be a short
delay while the ca era saves the photo to e ory.
After each photo is shot (when the ca era returns to icon ode) the nu bers of photos left to
shoot at this resolution is displayed at the top left of the LCD screen.
When the ca era's e ory (photo capacity) is full, the LCD screen will display “0”. If you atte pt
to take a photo when the e ory is full the ca era will beep continuously.

Digital Zoom
You can agnify your subject up to 4 ti es using the digital zoo . Use the and buttons to
adjust the zoo . The icon will flash on your LCD screen. Push the button to zoo in on your
subject. Push the button to zoo back out.
Display
The default display setting shows icons on the LCD screen. Press the display button once to
switch off the icons. Press the button again to switch off the LCD (to conserve battery power).
Pressing the display button repeatedly toggles between these display odes.
Flash
In low light conditions it is best to use the built-in flash. You can also use the flash to co pensate
for backlight conditions.
To set the flash:
1. Press the button. The will appear on the LCD screen. This eans the flash
function has been "forced on" ( anual flash). If the flash is not ready a red LED will light
up above the LCD screen and the icon will flash repeatedly- wait until the flash is ready
before taking a photo. A low battery warning will appear on the LCD screen if there is
insufficient battery power to operate the flash.

2. Press the button repeatedly. Select the icon shown on the LCD screen. This
will activate the auto atic flash.
3. Press the button repeatedly until the icon appears. This will turn off the flash
function.
Self-Timer
You can include yourself in a photo by using this feature to delay the ti e between your pressing
the shutter and when the photo is actually taken. It is reco ended that you use a tripod when you
use the self ti er.
1. Press the button to select the
ON
icon shown on the LCD screen.
2. Press the shutter button to start a 10 second count down (the count down will appear on
the LCD). After 10 seconds a photo is taken.
Date
If date is selected the date and ti e the photo was taken will be recorded on the photo.
To set the date and ti e please refer to the Date and Ti e section in Setup Mode.
Pressing the button toggles date on and off – the date icon will appear on the LCD screen if
date is on.
Delete (Last Photo)
You can delete the last photo taken fro Ca era ode.
1. Press the button to select the DELETE IMAGE enu.

2. Press the button to select DELETE.
a. Press the OK/Enter button to confir deletion.
b. Press the button and select CANCEL if you do not wish to delete the
i age.
3. Push OK/Enter to confir your selection.
If you do not press any navigation buttons within 10 seconds, the enu disappears.
Image Size and Quality
The i age size and quality settings deter ine the nu ber the nu ber of photos and the a ount of
e ory required for each photo. The higher the i age size and the better the quality, the ore
e ory each photo will use. The i age size and quality will also affect the axi u size you can
print your photo effectively.
Your ca era has 32 Megabytes of internal e ory, stored in the built-in e ory. The following
table tells you how any photos can be taken based on the I age Size and Quality settings:

NOTE: To increase the nu ber of photos your ca era can take and store, use an external SD
co patible e ory Card (not included). SD e ory cards co e in a variety of capacities. Please
refer to the “Installing an Optional Me ory Card” section of this anual for ore infor ation.
To learn how to set photo quality please refer to the “Setup Mode” section of the anual.
Setting the Image Size
In Ca era Mode: Press the button to display the IMAGE SIZE enu.
1. Using the and navigation arrows select one of
the five I age Size options on the LCD screen.

2. Press OK/Enter to confir your selection. The new i age size will appear on the
botto left of the LCD screen.
Video Mode
Set the ode dial to Video ode. The icon will appear on the LCD screen.
You can take 320 x 240 pixel digital video clips with your ca era. Without an SD e ory card, the
internal 32MB of e ory in your ca era can record up to approx. 2 Minutes 50 Seconds of video
based on how uch e ory is available at the ti e.
The axi u available recording ti e is displayed on the top left of the LCD screen.
1. Press the shutter button to start recording. A red LED will light up above the LCD
screen. Elapsed recording ti e will be displayed on the top left of the LCD screen.
2. To stop recording press the shutter button again.

NOTE: The video will be saved in AVI (Audio Video Interleave) for at and can be played by either
with Windows Media Player or Apple Quick Ti e. Shooting ti e varies depending on the available
space in your ca era's e ory.
Playback Mode
Set the ode dial to Playback ode. The icon will appear on the LCD screen. You can
review the photos and videos you have recorded. In Playback ode you can rotate, protect, delete
and crop your photos and you can protect and delete video clips. You can also print photos directly
fro your ca era using Pictbridge.
NOTE: The essage, “NO IMAGES EXIST” will be displayed on the LCD screen if there are no
photos in the ca era.
The display button toggles between displaying the following on the LCD screen:

Single i age or video clip with icons.
Thu bnails display.
When a file is selected, the nu ber of the file you have selected will be displayed out of a total
nu ber of files in e ory (e.g. 0018/0025).
Thumbnails Display:
1. Press the Display button till you see your i ages displayed as thu bnails.
2. Use the navigation arrows to browse the edia files in your ca era. A selected file will
be highlighted by a white border. The type of edia will be displayed, AVI for a video or
JPG for a photo.
3. To see a full screen display of the file, press the display button .
Note: You cannot anipulate files fro the thu bnails view
Single Image Display:

1. Press the Display button until you see the full screen display.
2. Use the and navigation arrows to browse the files in your ca era.
Rotate:
1. Press the enu button .
2. Using the and navigation buttons, select LEFT to rotate the photo 90
degrees to the left or RIGHT to rotate the photo 90 degrees to the right or CANCEL.
3. Press the OK/Enter button to confir your selection.
Protect:
You can protect your photos/videos fro accidental deletion selecting to “lock” the .
