2
Thank you for purchasing our Salton 3 in 1 Snack Maker with interchangeable grill, sandwich
and waffle plates. Each unit is manufactured to ensure safety and reliability. Before using your
appliance for the first time, please read the accompanying instructions carefully and keep for
future reference.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed,
including the following:
Read all instructions carefully and save them for future reference.
Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs when working with the appliance.
To protect against the risk of electrical shock, do not immerse power cord, plug or
cooking unit in water or any other liquid.
Close supervision is required when any appliance is used by or near children.
Unplug the appliance from the socket when not in use or before and during cleaning.
Allow the unit to cool down properly before putting on or taking off parts and before
cleaning.
Do not operate the snack maker with a damaged power cord or plug or after the appliance
malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the
nearest approved service centre for examination and/or repair or for electrical or
mechanical adjustment.
The use of accessory attachments not supplied with the unit or by the manufacturer, is not
recommended and may result in injury, fire or shock hazards.
Do not use this product outdoors. Do not use this appliance for anything other than its
intended use. Failure to comply with this instruction will result in the warranty becoming
invalid.
Do not let the cord hang over table or counter edges or to come into contact with hot
surfaces.
Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
To disconnect the appliance from the mains, do not pull on the cord. Grasp the plug
firmly and pull to remove from the outlet.
Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.

3
If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized service agent to avoid
any electrical hazard.
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from entanglement
or tripping over a longer cord.
Use of an extension cord is not recommended. If, however, it is necessary to use one,
always ensure that the marked electrical rating of the extension cord is equal to or greater
than the electrical rating of this appliance to reduce the risk of fire or cord burn-
out/overheating.
Ensure that the extension cord does not hang over edges or is placed where it can be
pulled on by small children or animals or inadvertently tripped over.
USING YOUR SNACK MAKER
Before using your snack maker for the first time, wipe the surfaces of the cooking plates
with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly with a soft dry cloth.
Smear the cooking plates with butter or margarine. For added non-stick –spray with a
non-stick cooking spray.
Insert the plug into the mains and switch on.
Keep the machine closed to allow the unit to preheat for approximately 5 minutes.
When the green “ready to use” light comes on, the appliance has reached its set
temperature.
Use this heating time to prepare your sandwich, waffle mixture or meat/vegetables etc.
Open the unit fully and place the food onto the bottom plate.
Carefully close the two halves of the unit, do not force it shut.
Steam will be ejected from between the two plates. Care must be taken to ensure that
your fingers do not come into contact with the hot surfaces or the steam.
Lock the two plates together while cooking/toasting is taking place by using the locking
clip –except when using the waffle plates.
Note: During cooking/toasting, the pilot light will cycle on and off while the thermostat
maintains the correct temperature.
Food will be cooked in 2-8 minutes or longer depending on the type of food and
personal taste.
Open the unit and remove food from the non-stick plates with a wooden or plastic lifter.
Never use a metal knife or spatula as this may damage the non-stick coating.

4
Close the lid to preserve the heat until you are ready to cook the next item.
After use, unplug from the mains and allow unit to cool sufficiently before cleaning.
HINTS FOR BEST RESULTS
Always pre-heat the unit before use. Plug the unit into the mains, switch on and allow the
plates to heat while preparing the food to be cooked.
For soft or liquid sandwich fillings, use medium sliced bread, white or brown.
Flavoured butter may also be used to add to the taste.
For added flavour, use bacon dripping. Brush the bacon dripping onto the outside surface
of the bread.
Suggested garnishes for sandwiches are: lettuce, parsley, mint, cress, stuffed olive halves,
onion, tomato etc
A teaspoon of sugar sprinkled on the outside makes toasted sandwiches crispier
(especially if made with fruit fillings).
CHANGING THE PLATES
Your versatile snack maker comes with 3 interchangeable sets of cooking plates.
To change these plates simply slide the buttons on the unit edges (top and bottom)
towards the middle, releasing the plates and remove.
Always ensure that the unit is unplugged and the plates have completely cooled
before removing.
To replace the new plates, first line up the two flanges at the back edge of the plate with
the openings in the unit (found near the hinges), then line up the two small flanges in the
front and snap the plates gently into position.
Ensure that your fingers are free from the opening between the unit and the plates
to prevent trapping or pinching them while positioning the plates securely.
Always ensure that the plates are completely dry before inserting them and never expose
the open elements in the unit to any wet or damp situations.
Note: The top and bottom plates have flanges in different positions so always ensure that you
are inserting the correct plate. Never force the fit.

5
CLEANING
After use and before cleaning, always unplug the appliance from the mains.
Let the unit cool in the open position.
Remove the plates before cleaning them.
Never immerse the appliance, plug or power cord in water or any other liquid. Wipe
the outside clean with a damp cloth or sponge and then dry thoroughly with a soft dry
cloth. Never use abrasive cleaners or scourers on the non-stick coating as this
may damage the surface. Ensure that no moisture, oil or grease enters the cooking
slots.
Plates can be immersed in hot, soapy water but excessive cleaning may hamper the
performance of the non-stick plates so rather wipe the plates clean where possible.
Should any filling/burnt food be difficult to remove, pour a little cooking oil onto the
plates and wipe off after 5 minutes once the filling has softened.
Re-apply a thin layer of margarine or butter or re-spray with non-stick spray after
excessive cleaning.
It is not recommended to wash the plates in the dishwasher.
