OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
*There may be a brief manufacturing odour or small amount of smoke during first use. This
usually occurs when using cooking appliances for the first time as the element will take a
minute or two to cure, etc. Please ensure that there is sufficient ventilation in the area where
you are using the appliance*
1. After following the instructions above, place the hotplate on a firm, flat surface.
2. Ensure that the control panel of the hotplate is set to the “0” or “OFF” position.
3. Insert the power cord of the hotplate into a suitable plug socket.
4. Place the wok (with lid in place) in the centre of the hotplate. Ensure that the wok is
placed securely.
5. To switch the unit on, set the control panel to the required temperature LOW/ MED/ HI
by turning the knob in a clockwise direction. The indicator light will turn on and the unit
will start heating to the temperature required. As the wok heats up, you may hear a
clicking sound. This is due to the expansion of the metal as it heats and is normal. You
may also notice this sound as the unit cools down. The indicator light will turn off when
the unit has reached desired temperature. NOTE: Never turn the unit on without any
food and / or liquid in the wok.
6. Before first use: pour some salad or vegetable oil into the wok together with some
water and bring it to the boil. Leave it to boil for 5-7 minutes. Once complete, discard
the oil and water mixture. Clean the wok as per the cleaning instructions in the manual
then begin the cooking process. This quick measure will eliminate any manufacturing
odours.
7. To cook: Follow steps 1 to 5 above. Now lift the lid and place the food to be cooked
into the wok. Be careful when inserting the food as the wok is hot and this may cause
the food to splatter. Be careful not to overfill the wok. During cooking, the indicator light
may cycle on and off indicating that the desired temperature is being maintained. Tip:
Experiment with foods and experience a world of taste.
8. Once the food is cooked to your preference, turn the temperature control to the “0” or
“OFF” position and unplug the unit from the power socket.

7
NOTE: Be careful when working with this appliance, as the wok, lid and hotplate become very
hot. Only the handles and knob will be cool enough to touch.
Basic Temperature Guide:
LOW Low temperature Keep foods warm
MED Medium temperature Chinese/ Chocolate fondue
HI High temperature Meat fondue/ Cheese vegetable pan
Following a few general tips can prolong the life of your wok:
1. Always wash the wok and lid as soon as possible after each use.
2. DO NOT pour cold water into a hot pan.
3. The wok has a non-stick coating. Use only the wooden spatula for turning and stirring foods so
as not to damage the coated surface. Never scrape with hard or sharp utensils.
4. Wash the wok and lid after each use to avoid stains caused by a build-up of food or grease
residues.
5. Never leave food in the wok overnight.
COOKING TIPS
Foods which overcook easily should be removed from the wok as soon as cooking has been
completed.
Try to dry meat, fish, poultry, etc. before adding to hot oil to prevent unnecessary splattering.
Do not fry too much food at a time in order to prevent the oil temperature from dropping too
dramatically.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
This appliance is for household use only and is not user-serviceable.

8
Do not open or change any parts by yourself. Please refer to a qualified electrical service
department or return to the supplier if servicing is necessary.
Always remember to unplug the unit from the electrical outlet when not in use and before
cleaning. Ensure that the control panel is set to the “OFF” or “0” position.
Allow the wok and hotplate sufficient time to cool.
Lift the wok off of the hotplate and clean it as described below.
Clean the body of the wok while it is still warm after use. Be careful as it may still be hot. Clean
when the wok is comfortable to the touch. As the wok has a removable base (the hotplate), the
pan itself and lid easily fit into most dishwashers for cleaning. Note: If you choose to wash the
pan in a dishwasher, the bottom of the pan is likely to discolour due to the caustic nature of the
dishwashing detergent.
If preferred, the wok can be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge. Soaking the pan to loosen
food residue is not necessary. If however desired, do not soak for more than two hours.
Soaking for more than two hours may damage the non-stick finish.
Do not scrub the wok as this will damage the non-stick coating. Always ensure that the wok
is completely dry before use or storing.
Do not use bleach or other abrasive substance or solvents to clean your appliance as it can be
damaging to the finish.
To remove stubborn spots/marks from the pan, wipe the surfaces with a cloth slightly dampened
in soapy water or mild non-abrasive cleaner. Rinse and dry with a clean, dry, soft cloth.
Do not use the lid if it is chipped or cracked. Handle the lid carefully and avoid impact. Do not
handle the lid if it is hot with a wet towel or place the hot lid on a cold or wet surface.
Check the screw on the lid knob periodically in case it has become loose. Retighten it if
necessary. CAUTION: Over-tightening can result in stripping of the screw or cracking of the lid
knob.
After cleaning, completely wipe the wok dry with a soft cloth. Clean the wok after each use.
To maintain a longer life of the non-stick coated surface on the inside of the pan, apply a very
light coat of cooking oil to the non-stick coating with a paper towel before storing. Repeat
periodically.
Never allow the hotplate to come into contact with any liquid. To clean the hotplate, gently wipe
it with a soft dry cloth or paper towel. Always ensure that the hotplate is completely dry
before use or storing.
Do not immerse the hotplate in water or any other liquid, or hold it under a running tap.
