EVENTILATION

OPERATION
UNPACKING ANDSETTING UP
The operation ofthe RS-332 High-FidelityClock RadioStereo Speakerislargely
self-explanatory.Mostofitsfunctionsduplicatethoseofthe RS-330.The RS-
332 isdescribed indetail onlywhereitsoperation differsfromthatofthe RS-
330’s.
Afterunpacking the RS-332,plug the powercordintoan appropriateACpower
outlet. 120 voltACpowerisstandardthroughoutmostofNorthAmerica.Voltage
variesinotherpartsofthe world.The RS-332 mayemita“thump”when first
plugged in;thisisnormal.

The RS-332 hasan 18'6"(5.64 meters)controlcablethatattachestothe RS-330.
Align the cable’s plug withthe matching jack on the rearofthe RS-330,then
gentlypushitintoplace.
Thereisan FMMODEswitchnexttothe controlcablejack on the RS-330.Set
thisswitchtoSTEREO,sothatstereo broadcastswill be heardinstereo.If
stereo reception isnoisy ordistorted,and reorienting the antenna doesnotprovide
acceptablereception (thismaymean thatthe broadcastsignalistoo weak),move
the switchtothe MONOposition.
POSITIONING THERS-332
The RS-332 shouldbe placed whereitisnotexposed tohigh temperaturesor
humidity.
The RS-332 provideshigh-fidelitystereo sound when paired withthe RS-330
Clock Radio.Position the RS-330 and RS-332 forthe beststereo sound.They
shouldbe aboutequallydistantfromyourusuallistening position.The fartheryou
separatethe RS-330 and RS-332,the morespaciousthe sound becomes.
Front-panelcontrolbuttonsareback-litforeaseofuseinadarkened room.
THEDISPLAY
The fluorescentdisplayshowsthe currenttime,station frequency,alarmsettings,
and mostoperationalmodes.Pleaseread the owner’s manualofthe RS-330
whichdescribeseachelementofthe display.
Alightsensoratthe baseofthe displayautomaticallyadjuststhe display’s
brightness tocompensateforachange inroomlighting.Thissensorworks
independentlyofthe sensoron the RS-330.You can modifythe automaticsetting
withthe knob on the bottomofthe RS-332 .Turnthisknob clockwisetomake
the displaybrighter,counter-clockwisetomakeitdimmer.
The displayshowseitherthe station frequency,orthe currenttime,butnotboth
simultaneously.Wheneveryou turnon the radio,orselectanewstation,the
displayautomaticallyswitchestothe station frequency.The displaywill auto-
maticallyreturntothe timeafterseven seconds.If you wanttoviewthe frequency
on the RS-332,press the FREQ(frequency)button on the RS-332.
CONTROLS
The VOLUMEcontroladjustsonlythe levelofthe RS-332.Setthe RS-332’s
volumesothatbothunitsareequallyloud.Usean announcer’s voiceforthis
setting.If you aremidwaybetween the RS-330 and RS-332,the voiceshould
appeartobe centered when bothunitsareplaying atthe samevolume.

EYou can adjustthe volumelevelofthe RS-330 and RS-332 byusing the RS-330
VOLUMEknob when the VOLUMECONTROLswitch(on the back ofthe RS-332)
isinthe OFF position.The VOLUMEknob on the RS-332 isonlyfunc-
tionalwhen the VOLUMECONTROLswitchisinthe ONposition.The volumeof
the RS-330 mustbe turned up beforethe RS-332 can controlitsownvolume.
The POWERON/OFF ,ALARM1ON/OFF ,ALARM2ON/OFF ,
TIMERSET,SLEEP TIMERSET,SNOOZE,MEMORYSET,
FREQ(frequency),TUNE/TIME(tuning frequencystation and timeadjustment)
,P1/P2(MemoryPage 1/Page 2),BAND (FM/AMband select),
VOLUMEknob ,ALARMLEVEL,RESETbuttons,and the DISPLAY
BRIGHTNESSADJUSTMENTknob workexactlyastheydo on the RS-330.
Eachpress ofaPRESETbutton advancestothatpresetstation.The display
showsthe band and frequencyselected.
When the RS-332 ispaired withyourRS-330 Clock Radio,the RS-330’s second
alarmworks through the RS-332.TheALARMLEVELcontrolknob setsthe
volumeofAlarm2independentofAlarm1’s volumeon the RS-330.
MAINTENANCE
Nomaintenanceisrequired.The black knitgrillecovercan be cleaned witha
vacuumcleaner’s upholsterynozzle.The cabinetcan be cleaned withaslightly
dampcloth.If stubborndirtremains,applyasmall amountofageneral-purpose
cleanser(suchasEndustforElectronics)directlytothe cleaning cloth.NEVER
SPRAYANYLIQUIDSDIRECTLYONTHEUNITand do notusesolventssuchas
alcoholorbenzene.
