Please take a few moments to carefully read through this manual. Correct maintenance and operation of this
machine will provide the best possible performance from your SARO product.

Should you find any damage as a result of transit, please contact your SARO dealer immediately.
Installation
Note: If the appliance has not been stored or moved in an upright position, let it stand upright for
approximately 12 hours before operation. If in doubt allow the appliance to stand.
1. Remove the appliance from the packaging. Make sure that all protective plastic film and coatings are
thoroughly removed from all surfaces
2. Maintain a distance of 20cm (7 inches) between the unit and walls or other objects for ventilation. Increase
the distance of the object is a heat source. Do not block front ventilation grills.
Note: Before using the appliance for the first time, clean the shelves and interior with soapy water.
Operation
It is important that food entering the Blast Chiller/Freezer does not exceed a temperature of 90C
It is recommended that metal containers / trays are used as other materials such as plastic or polystyrene containers
will act as an insulator and extend blast chilling times
Sufficient space must be left between products in order to guarantee a sufficient flow of cold air. Ensure product is
not in contact with the internal walls of the unit, and leave sufficient gaps between trays.
Never obstruct the inlet of the evaporator fans.
Products that are more difficult to chill because of their composition and size should be placed in the centre of the
unit.
Blast chilling data refers to standard products (low fat content) with a thickness below 50 mm: therefore avoid
overlaying products on trays or the insertion of pieces with a much higher thickness, as this will lead to an extension
of blast chilling times. Always distribute the product well on the trays and in the case of thick pieces decrease the
amount to blast chill.
Limit the number of times and the duration of time the doors are opened.
The chiller should be used for storage for short periods only.
When removing product that has undergone blast chilling / shock freezing, always wear gloves to protect the hands
from cold burns.

Setting the Time / Date
1. Hold the DOWN key (1) until the Min label is displayed.
2. Use the UP and DOWN KEY to browse the parameters.

3. To Modify push the SET button and then the UP and DOWN keys.
4. To Confirm: push the SET button.
5. To exit the menu: Push together SET + UP keys or wait 5 sec.
Selecting a Cycle
Push the to move among the cycles C1, C2, C3, C4 and the holding cycle. The related symbol on the
display will be lighted and the cycle will be selected.
Note: to pass from a cycle to another one simply push the key when the controller is in stand–by mode.
Cycles are pre-set with the following values:
Cy1: for fast chilling and conservation of foods (hard +soft chill).
Cy2: for chilling and fast freezing of foods (hard +soft + freezing cycle).
Cy3: for direct fast freezing (only fast freezing cycle)
Cy4: for direct fast freezing without holding (hard chill + freezing cycle)
HLd: hold mode function
dEF: for starting a manual defrost

Starting a cycle
Push and release the START/STOP button (2). The correspondent yellow LED is switched on.
Temporarily stopping the Running cycle
1. Press and release the key.
2. The compressor and the fan will be stopped and the flashing message “STB” will be displayed.
3. To restart the cycle press and release the key, the cycle will restart from the same point at which it was
interrupted.
4. If the cycle is not manually restarted the Chiller will automatically restart after 20 minutes.
How to stop a cycle
Press the START/STOP button (2) until the yellow LED switches off
When a Cycle is Running
Display Temperatures
The upper display shows the temperature of the thermostat probe. The bottom display shows the temperature of an
insert probe, ip1.
ip2 & ip3 are not included, if displayed press the down key until ip1 is displayed.
Cycles / Phases
Every programmable cycle Cy1, Cy2, Cy3 or Cy4 can be divided into up to 3 phases usually called:
1. hard chill
2. soft chill
3. freezing cycle
Each cycle is controlled by the probe temperature by default.
Pushing the up key the running phase is displayed.

Hold Mode
While the holding cycle is running, (H icon will be displayed).
Manual Defrost
Assure that no cycle is active and that the hold mode function is not running.
Hold and press the UP key for few seconds.
Note: The defrost will not be done if the temperature detected by the evaporator probe is higher than the stop
defrost temperature parameter.
Insert Probes
The SARO Blast Chiller is supplied with an insert probe. When inserted into the food, the internal temperature can be
checked. If the insert probe is used then this temperature measurement will be used to end the various phase of the
cycle.
Note: To prevent bacterial contamination or contamination of any other biological nature, the needle probe
must be disinfected after use.

Cleaning the evaporator
Please ensure that the Blast Chiller is switched off and unplugged prior to cleaning
Clean the evaporator periodically.
As the fins of the evaporator are very sharp. always wear protective gloves for the next phases Only a brush
must be used for cleaning :do not use jets of liquid or sharp instruments.
To access the evaporator proceed as follows:
1. Open the door (A) of the appliance.
2. Loosen the two screws (B) on the right of the deflector.
3. Remove the runner (C).
4. Turn the deflector (D) to the left.

Cleaning the condenser
Please ensure that the Blast Chiller is switched off and unplugged prior to cleaning
Clean the condenser periodically.
As the fins of the condenser are very sharp, always wear protective gloves for the next phases. Use
protective masks and glasses in the presence of dust.
Whenever the condenser has a deposit of dust in correspondence with the fins, this can be removed using a
suction device or with a brush applied, using a vertical movement along the direction of the fins.
No other instruments must be used, which may deform the fins and therefore the efficiency of the
appliance.
To clean, proceed as follows:
1. Open the door (A) of the appliances.
2. Remove the lower panel (B) from the technical compartment: to do this, remove the screw fasteners
(C).
3. It is now possible to clean the finned part of the condenser (D) using suitable tools and protection
devices.
4. After cleaning, close the control panel and fix it with the screws removed beforehand.

Electrical Wiring
SARO appliances are supplied with a 3 pin, moulded, BS1363 plug and lead, with a 13 amp fuse as standard.
The plug is to be connected to a suitable mains socket.
SARO appliances are wired as follows:
Live wire (coloured brown) to terminal marked L
Neutral wire (coloured blue) to terminal marked N
Earth wire (coloured green/yellow) to terminal marked E
All SARO appliances must be earthed, using a dedicated earthing circuit.
If in doubt consult a qualified electrician.
Electrical isolation points must be kept clear of any obstructions. In the event of any emergency disconnection being
required they must be readily accessible.
Disposal
EU regulations require refrigeration product to be disposed of by specialist companies who remove or recycle all
gasses, metal and plastic components.
Consult your local waste collection authority regarding disposal of your appliance. Local authorities are not obliged
to dispose of commercial refrigeration equipment but may be able to offer advice on how to dispose of the
equipment locally.

Verpakkingsinhoud
De verpakking bevat het volgende:

Installatie

2. Houd een ventilatieafstand van 20cm (7 inch) aan tussen het apparaat en muren of andere objecten.
Vergroot die afstand indien het object een warmtebron is. Ventilatieroosters niet blokkeren of afdekken.
Opmerking: Voor het eerste gebruik, dient men de planken en de binnenkant van het apparaat met warm
zeepwater te reinigen.
Werking
De temperatuur van voedsel dat u in de snelkoeler/vriezer plaatst mag niet warmer dan 90 °C zijn.
Gebruik metalen containers/bakken aangezien bakken van andere materialen, zoals bijvoorbeeld plastic of
polystyreen, een isolerende werking hebben waardoor langere snelkoelingstijden ontstaan.
Laat voldoende ruimte tussen de producten om een toereikende stroming van koude lucht te garanderen. Zorg dat
het product de binnenwanden van de koeler niet raakt en voor voldoende ruimte tussen platen.
Bedek nooit de ingang van de verdampingsventilatoren.
Producten die door hun samenstelling en grootte moeilijk te koelen zijn, moeten in het midden van de koeler worden
geplaatst.
De gegevens over snelkoeling hebben betrekking op standaard producten (laag vetgehalte) met een dikte kleiner dan
50 mm: voorkom daarom het stapelen van producten op platen of het snelkoelen van producten met grotere diktes,
aangezien dit de snelkoeltijden zal verlengen. Verdeel het product over de roosters en verklein dikke stukken om de
snelkoeltijd te verlagen.
Beperk het aantal keren en de duur van het openen van deuren.
De koeler dient alleen voor korte bewaarperiodes te worden gebruikt.
Draag altijd handschoenen om snel gekoelde/ingevroren producten uit de koeler te halen om letsel door bevriezing
van handen te voorkomen.

1. Houd de knop (1) OMLAAG ingedrukt totdat het minutenscherm (min. label) wordt weergegeven.
2. Gebruik de KNOPPEN OMHOOG en OMLAAG om door de parameters te bladeren.

3. Om te wijzigen : druk op de knop SET en vervolgens op de knoppen OMHOOG en OMLAAG.

Een cyclus selecteren
Druk op om tussen de cycli C1, C2, C3, C4 en hold-cyclus te schakelen. Het gerelateerde symbool op
het display gaat aan en de cyclus wordt geselecteerd.
Opmerking: om van cyclus te schakelen, druk op de knop wanneer het regelingspaneel in de
standbymodus staat.
De cycli hebben de volgende vooraf ingestelde waarden:
Cy1: voor snelkoeling en conservering van voedsel (sterke + zachte koeling).
Cy2: voor snelkoeling en snelvriezen van voedsel (sterk + zacht + vriescyclus).
Cy3: voor direct snelvriezen (alleen snelle vriescyclus)
Cy4: voor direct snelvriezen zonder holding (sterke koeling + vriescyclus)
HLd: hold-modusfunctie

Een cyclus starten
Druk op de START/STOP knop (2). De bijhorende gele LED gaat aan.
Tijdelijk onderbreken van de runcyclus
1. Druk op de knop .
2. De compressor en de ventilator worden gestopt en het knipperend bericht “STB” wordt weergegeven.
3. Om de cyclus te herstarten, drukt u op de knop en de cyclus wordt opnieuw gestart op het punt waar de
cyclus onderbroken werd.
4. Wordt de cyclus niet handmatig opnieuw gestart dan wordt de koeler na 20 minuten automatisch opnieuw
gestart.
Een cyclus stoppen
Druk op de START/STOP knop (2) tot de gele LED wordt uitgeschakeld
Wanneer een cyclus in uitvoering is
Displaytemperaturen
Het bovenste display toont de temperatuur van de thermostaatsonde. Het onderste display toont de temperatuur van
een insteeksonde, ip1.
ip2 en ip3 zijn niet inbegrepen, indien weergegeven, druk op de knop omlaag tot ip1 wordt weergegeven.
Cycli/fases
Elke programmeerbare cyclus Cy1, Cy2, Cy3 or Cy4 kan tot maximaal 3 fases worden onderverdeeld:
1. sterk koelen
2. zacht koelen
3. vriescyclus
Elke cyclus wordt standaard door de sondetemperatuur geregeld.
Door de knop omhoog in te drukken wordt de werkende fase weergegeven.

Hold-modus
Tijdens de hold-cyclus wordt het pictogram H weergegeven.
Handmatig ontdooien
Zorg dat alle cycli en de hold-modusfunctie uitgeschakeld zijn.
Druk op de knop OMHOOG en houd deze knop enkele seconden ingedrukt.
Opmerking: de ontdooiing wordt niet uitgevoerd wanneer de gedetecteerde temperatuur door de
verdampingssonde hoger is dan die van de parameter stop ontdooiingstemperatuur.
Insteeksondes
De SARO snelkoeler wordt geleverd met een insteeksonde. Door de insteeksonde in het voedsel te steken kan de
interne temperatuur worden gecontroleerd. De temperatuurmeting van de insteeksonde wordt gebruikt om het einde
van de verschillende cyclusfases te bepalen.
Opmerking: om bacteriële of biologische contaminatie te voorkomen, moet de naaldsonde na gebruikt
worden gedesinfecteerd.

Reiniging van de verdamper
Voordat u met de reiniging begint, schakel het apparaat uit en haal de stekker uit het stopcontact
Reinig regelmatig de verdamper.
De groeven van de verdamper zijn zeer scherp. Draag daarom altijd veiligheidshandschoenen bij de
volgende reinigingsfases. Gebruik alleen een kwast voor de reiniging. Gebruik geen waterstralen, vloeistof
of scherpe instrumenten voor de reiniging.
Ga als volgt te werk voor toegang tot de verdamper:
1. Open deur(A) van het apparaat.
2. Draai de twee schroeven (B) los aan de rechterzijde van de deflector.
3. Verwijder de geleider (C).
4. Draai de deflector (D) naar links.

Reiniging van de condensor
Voordat u met de reiniging begint, schakel het apparaat uit en haal de stekker uit het stopcontact
Reinig regelmatig de condensor.
De groeven van de condensor zijn zeer scherp. Draag daarom altijd veiligheidshandschoenen bij de
volgende reinigingsfases. Gebruik veiligheidsmasker en bril bij de aanwezigheid van stof.
Als de groeven van de condensor onder de stof zitten, gebruik een stofzuiger of borstel en verwijder de stof
met verticale bewegingen langs de groeven.
Gebruik geen andere hulpmiddelen die de groeven kunnen vervormen, waardoor de efficiëntie van het
apparaat wordt beïnvloed.
Ga bij het reinigen als volgt te werk:
1. Open deur(A) van de apparaten.
2. Haal het onderste paneel (B) uit het technische compartiment: draai hiervoor de schroefbevestigingen
(C) los.
3. Nu kunt u het vinnendeel van de condensor (D) reinigen met geschikte hulpmiddelen en beschermende
apparaten.
4. Na reiniging, sluit het regelingspaneel en bevestig de eerder verwijderde schroeven.
