IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: Before operating this device, please read carefully this User Manual and
be familiar with its contents prior to using this equipment.
To help avoid potential serious injury to the user and/or damage this device, the user must:
Never look directly to the optical exit (UV and Infrared radiation danger). Radiation from
direct or reflected UV/infrared light may burn your skin and eyes. Use adequate eye
protection.
Do not open the equipment or contact the circuit board. This equipment works with high
voltage up to 600V.
Never touch the components or their connections. The printed circuit board is assembled
with electrostatically sensitive components.
Connect the system to the correct power source and with the proper optical fibers.
Do not spill liquids in the equipment or use it in damp or harsh environments.
Never use the equipment near flammable items.
Be aware about the danger of electrical shock if not used properly.
LS-XeF it’s a very compact and most complete solution for applications from ultraviolet to infrared,
with flashing light.
It includes a high radiant 6W Xenon lamp with a lifetime of more than 1x109 flashes, TTL Trigger in
for external control of the flash rate with the optional signal generator SG-XeF or with a
spectrometer and the Software LightScan, spectral range from 190 to 2000+ nm, internal and
external intensity control, and very low power consumption.
Its high stability and extended lifetime, together with its high energy per flash and very compact size,
makes LS-XeF the state of the art in Xenon Light Source presently in the market, as you can prove
yourself when start working with it.

WARNING! Unplug the Light Source before cleaning the equipment.
Clean the external surfaces using a soft cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaners.
Do not allow any liquid to drip into the unit.
The LS-XeF requires no routine maintenance and has no user serviceable parts.
The flash lamp within the module is a non-replaceable unit. All repairs must be made by Sarspec
trained personal only. Please contact Sarspec for the replacement of the lamp.
Problem
Possible solution
System will not turn on
 Ensure that the AC power adapter is plugged
into the wall outlet and properly connected in
the side panel.
 Ensure the power switch on the side panel is
On (the Sarspec logo on the top will illuminate
when the equipment is on).
No light output
 Ensure the optical fiber is correctly connected
and not broken.
 Verify that a Trigger signal is present on the
REMOTE connector.
 Replacement of the lamp.

Internal adjustment of HV reference voltage (refer to Fig.2)
The discharge capacitor voltage level of the LS-XeF is controlled by a reference voltage (Vref) which
may be applied externally or generated internally. The internal or external mode is selected by the
position of the INTENSITY SWITCH located on the back panel. When the unit is configured to use
the internal reference (INT position), voltage can be adjusted over the full 400 – 600 V range via the
INTENSITY POTENTIOMETER which is accessed through the hole adjacent to the Intensity switch.
All units are shipped with the intensity (Vref)
set to internal (INT position) and adjusted for maximum
output (INTENSITY POTENTIOMETER turned completely in the clockwise direction).
External adjustment of HV reference voltage (refer to Fig.2)
With the INTENSITY SWITCH set to EXT position the discharge capacitor voltage can now be adjusted
from 400 to 600 volts by applying an external reference voltage of 3.15 – 4.73 Vdc to pin 7 and pin
8. This reference voltage can be the output of any source such as digital-to-analog converter (<5K
ohms), a divider network from the main DC power source, or a variable DC power supply.
