SatStation Desktop Dock for Iridium® 9575

The SatStation Desktop Dock is an accessory designed to adapt the Iridium®
9575 handset for convenient private and speaker-phone desktop communication.
Features:
Speaker and private handset operation.
Rapid Charging facility
External antenna for improved coverage and reception
Recording facility for both incoming and outgoing audio.
Data transmission
Setting up the SatStation Desktop Dock
1. Place the SatStation Desktop Dock in a convenient position within easy reach of an
AC power outlet.
2. Attach the plug at the end of the coil cord of the Privacy Handset into the
corresponding port on the back of the SatStation Desktop Dock.
3. Plug the power supply into the wall AC power outlet and the round barrel plug at the
end of the cord of the power supply into the corresponding plug on the back of the
SatStation Desktop Dock

4. At this point the LED will turn RED.
IMPORTANT NOTICE! Read the following prior to inserting the phone into the
SatStation Desktop Dock

Installing the phone into the SatStation Desktop Dock
1. Place the phone into the cradle with the connector at the bottom of the phone aligned
with the connector in the cradle.

2. Press the phone back into the cradle as shown in Diagram 5, make sure phone snaps
securely into place.
3. If the phone is OFF, the LED LIGHT RED.
4. If the phone is ON, the LED will light GREN.
Removing the Phone form the Cradle
1. To remove the phone from the cradle press the release button at the top of the cradle,
above the phone.
2. Pull the phone forward and then up and out.
NOTE: Batteries of the phone will charge within the temperature window of -10 C to +40 C (50 F to 104 F). If the battery is
outside this temperature window, no charge current will be supplied to the battery.
Installation of External Antenna

1. The antenna connection on the SatStation Desktop Dock has a mini UHF connector.
For convenience a Mini UHF to TNC connector is included with the SatStation Desktop
Dock.

2. An antenna suitable for use with the Iridium 9555 phone must be purchased and
properly installed in accordance with the requirements of the antenna manufacturer/
supplier.
NOTE! Use an approved antenna only. Unauthorized antennas, modifications, or
attachments could impair reception quality, damage the phone, or result in non-
compliance to United States FCC Regulations for RF exposure.
3. Position the antenna in such a way to maintain a separation distance of at least 8
inches (20cm) between the antenna connected and the body of any user, or nearby
person, to assure compliance with the United States FCC regulations on RF exposure.
Making and Receiving calls in Speaker Mode.
1. To make a call in speaker mode, dial the desired number on the phone’s keypad and
press SEND (GREEN) button. Speak towards the Microphone on the lower right corner
of the SatStation Desktop Dock as indicated in Diagram 5 above.
2. The voice of the person you are calling will be heard via the built- in speaker of the
SatStation Desktop Dock
3. To receive a call in speaker mode press the SEND (Green) button on the Phone’s
keypad and speak towards the microphone. The caller’s voice will be heard via the built-
in speaker of the SatStation Desktop Dock
4. To end a call in speaker mode press the END (RED) button on the phone’s keypad.
Making and Receiving calls via the Privacy Handset.
1. To make a call using the SatStation Desktop Dock Handset, dial the desired number
on the phone’s keypad and press SEND (GREEN) button. Pick up and use the handset
as you would with a regular desktop phone.
2. To receive an incoming call with the Handset, lift the Handset as you would with a
regular desktop phone.
3. To end a call while using the handset, place the handset back into the cradle.
4. To switch from a private call using the Handset to a speaker mode call, press and
hold the round button on the back of the Handset and then return the handset to the
cradle. The round button on the back of the handset must be kept depressed until the
handset is returned to its cradle or the call will be terminated.

Volume Control
The volume of the SatStation Desktop Dock can be increased or lowered with the
volume buttons on the side of the phone
Recording Feature
The SatStation Desktop Dock will allow the recording of incoming and outgoing audio
traffic to an external recording device via the 3.5mm plug on the back of the SatStation
Desktop Dock. See Diagram 1 above.
Data transmission
1. To transmit data, connect a USB cable into the computer and then into the
corresponding receptacle on the phone in the bottom left side of the cradle..
2. Select the appropriate driver for the Iridium® 9575 on the computer.
3. The LED on the desk top will flash RED/GREEN indicating that the phone is in Data
mode.
Summary of LED Indicators
RED: Phone not connected to the Base
GREEN: Phone connected with power ON
Flashing GREEN: Handset lifted
Alternating RED & GREEN: In Data mode
Charging the battery
With the phone turned off, the SatStation Desktop Dock will charge the battery to 60% in
approximately 1 hour. The charge time will be longer if the phone is operational during
charge time.
Maximum Voltage and Current
The SatStation Desktop Dock can be connected to a fixed power supply with a
maximum of 15VDC and a minimum of 2A
