BEFORE YOU START
You should fully charge your pen before rst
use.
Unscrew the top of the pen from the bottom.
e pen separates at the gold band.
Inside, be sure the power control is set to
OFF - away from the Red Dot.
Carefully insert the USB cable as shown, with
the silver side UP. Please do not force the
cable into position.
Connect the other end of the cable to your
PC or Mac. Your computer may install
standard drivers the rst time you connect -
this is normal.
Let charge for several hours. en, eject your
pen as you would any other external drive
and disconnect the cable.
You are now ready to use your pen!
NOTE: Your pen is meant to be charged via
your PC USB port.
Alternative adapters must not exceed 5 Volts
and 500 milliamps. / .5 Amp.

RECORDING
To record with this pen, you rst need to
turn on the main Power switch. is is
located inside the pen.
Separate the pen by unscrewing it at the
gold ring.
Push the Power Switch to the ON position,
which is Towards the Red Dot.
e Status Light under the clip will blink a
few times as your pen starts up.
Screw the pen top and bottom back
together. You are now ready to record.

RECORDING
Under the clip is the Status Light, which is
Red when the Power Switch in ON.
To RECORD, press the button at the top of
the pen IN.
e Red Status Light will blink while
recording. It will take a moment for your
recording to start.
To Stop Recording, press the button again.
Your recording will be saved and the pen is
ready to record again.

PLAYBACK VIA CONTROLLER
You can listen to your recordings with the
included Controller and ear buds.
To use the Controller, the Power Switch on
the pen must be in the ON position.
en, plug in the connector with the silver
side of the connector facing UP as shown.
Plug the ear buds into the top of the
controller.

e Controller has a small joystick.
PRESS the center of the joystick to begin
playing your les.
PUSH le or right to choose another le,
NEXT and PREVIOUS.
PUSH up and down to adjust the volume of
playback.
PRESS the center to stop a le.

PLAYBACK ON PC
To listen to your recordings on a PC, be
sure the Power Switch in the pen is OFF.
Connect the USB cable to the pen.
Connect the other end to your PC or Mac
via a USB port.
In a few seconds, your PC will connect to
your pen and a window may open showing
you the contents.
Your Pen will appear as an External Drive
or Removable Disk such as in this picture:

Your Recordings
Save your les on your PC by COPYing them into a folder.
You can then DELETE them from your Pen. Note to Mac Users - please EMPTY your
TRASH aer Deleting les, before you remove your pen from your computer.
To remove your pen, EJECT it from your PC as you would any external drive, then pull it
from your USB port.

Your Windows PC or Mac has built-in soware that will play most of the les created by devices
like yours. However, if you are having problems playing your les, or need more options, please
download and try these programs.

and tutorials for these programs on their respective websites. SafetyBasement can not provide

As with ANY les you download from the internet, be sure to scan them for viruses using your
particular virus scanner. While most users report no issues using this soware, we can not be

to this link, and choose the download for your version of Windows. Please
note: Movie Maker is part of the Windows Essentials package.

iMovie is a simple video editing program from Apple. It comes installed with
your new Mac. e latest version is also available at the Mac App Store at

professionals to edit simple and complex audio projects. You can use
Audacity to convert your audio les to another format, such as MP3. ere
