1.1. legal regulations governing installation.
The heaters of the MH-series are type-tested and approved in accordance with the ECE Directives ECE R122
with the EG permit number: 000517 (ECE R122).
Installation is governed above all by the provisions in Annex VII of the ECE Directives.
Note:
The provisions of these Directives are binding within the territory governed by ECE Directives and
should similarly be observed in countries without specic regulations.

4. The heater must have a manufacturer’s label showing the manufacturer’s name, the model number and
type together with its rated output in kilowatts. The fuel type must also be stated and, where relevant, the
operating voltage and gas pressure.
7.1. A clearly visible indicator light within the operator’s eld of view shall inform when the combustion heater
is switched on or o.

5.3. Regulations for installing combustion heaters and electrical heaters in vehicles.
5.3.1. Scope
5.3.1.1. According to section 5.3.1.2. heaters must be installed by the requirements of section 5.3..
5.3.2. Location of the heater
5.3.2.1. Parts of the vehicles body and other components in the immediate vicinity of the heater must be
protected against excessive heat and the danger of contamination by fuel and oil.
5.3.2.2. The internal combustion heater must not pose a re hazard even when overheated. This requirement
is deemed to have been met if care is taken during installation to ensure an adequate distance from all parts, as
well as adequate ventilation and if re-resistant materials or heat shields are used.
5.3.2.3. In class M2 and M3 vehicles must not be installed in the passenger cabin. A device in a sealed cover,
which also meets the requirements set out in section 5.3.2.2, may be used, however.
5.3.2.4. The plate or a duplicate of the plate mentioned in Annex 7 section 4 must be still tted in such way that
it is still clearly legible when the heater has been installed in the vehicle.
5.3.2.5. When positioning the heater, all reasonable precautions must be taken to minimize the risk of personal
injury or damage to items in the vehicle.

The discarded device must be disposed of at the end of its service life in accordance with national regulations.
It is recommended to contact a company specialized in disposal or to contact the disposal department of your
municipality.

Warning and safety instructions (explanation)
Switching on the heating system without heating water can destroy the heating system!
WARNING!
Note:
The feed temperature of the heated heating water can be freely selected before commissioning.
To avoid frost damage, the heating system must be lled with an anti-freeze liquid.
The heating system must be drained of service water as necessary.

The following table explains the used colors, words and their meaning used in this manual.
CAUTION! It is essential to note with the micro variants:
1. The max. ow rate of heated domestic water must be set with the key supplied before commissi-
oning. After that the opening must be closed with the cover that is also supplied. (See photo of the
MH-Micro set-up on p. 10)
2. When heating the machine (option), the user must controll that the heating system does not
reach temperatures higher than 75 ° C
3. For the purpose of equipotential bonding, a connection must be established between the hea-
ting system and the vehicle body. The connection must be made using a cable connection to the
screw marked on the heating system and a cable of at least 2.5mm².

The device may only be operated on properly installed single sockets with protective contact.
Do not pull the power cord out of the socket by pulling the cable.
Always grasp the housing of the power plug.
The burner elements and connections have 230 V voltage.

Repeated emtying of fueltank can cause damage to the burner!
If the heater is operated without fuel it can cause damage (e. g. on the oil nozzle).

Not following the required installation conditions will lead to the loss of all warranty and liability
claims!
• Installation must comply with governing statutory regulations listed on page 4.
• If the water heater is to be operated in a separately installed heating system, prior to installation an
installation planning report must always be submitted to SCHEER for approval. If this approval is not
obtained, all warranty and liability claims will be void.
NOTICE Cancelation of all warranty and liability claims!
Improper installation or improper repair can cause a re or the leakage of deadly carbon monoxide
leading to serious injury or death.
• The person to install and repair the heating system must have completed a SCHEER training course.
• Always follow all installation and repair instruction.
• Heed all warning and safety signs.
• All required technical documentations, tools, and equipment must be available in the vehicle for
installation and repair.
DANGER! Death or serious injury due to improper installation or repair.

Refer to the safety instructions in the operating and maintenance manual!
Read and understand all operating and maintenance instructions before starting the heater.
After installing the heater bleed the water system and the fuel supply system carefully. Follow the instructions
supplied by the vehicle manufacturer for this purpose.
Check the electrical connections for the correct polarity.
Conduct a test run of the heater to check all the water and fuel connections for leaks and ensure that they are
tight and secure. In case of an error during the test run or normal operation refer to the trouble-shooting table
and x it.
Tighten all pipe union connections after the rst full heat up operation. Please send a copy of the start-up pro-
tocol to SCHEER.
NOTICE

Installation position:
The heater must be installed in as low a position as possible to allow the heater and circulating pump to be
bled automatically. This is particularly important as the circulating pump is not self-priming.
The heater may also be installed in a box. The installation box must have sucient external ventilation to
ensure that a maximum temperature of 85 °C (185 °F) is not exceeded inside the box.
Keep in mind the space required for servicing accessibility (for instance for removing the combustion cham-
ber).

The MH water heaters are approved for the fuels„diesel“ and„heating oil“ as well as GTL/BTL. Other fuels must
be approved by the manufacturer SCHEER before use. The heaters are designed for 230 volts.
The connection in the vehicle is to be fed by the vehicle‘s battery via an inverter approved for road trac within
the scope of the ECE regulations.
Alternatively, the heater can also have a 230 V direct feed (e.g. direct feed from the campsite).

The pipe group is congured by SCHEER according to customer requirements.
All materials used for the plate heat exchanger comply with the denition of DIN 1988 to be suitable for
fresh water. The copper and solder used in the production is Alloy 316 quality.
To minimize the possibility of corrosion we recommend to stay within the following quality limits of the hot
fresh water:

Hybrid process
1. The 230V power supply for the electric heater must be supplied with power.
2. For each switch, 1kW or 2kW (see label) are activated together, the corresponding switch lights up.
The burner is blocked.
3. The electric heating is controlled via the heat request signal from the thermostat.
The indicator LEDs above the switch indicate whether the electric cartridge is currently heating.

As long as the electric heater is switched on, the burner remains blocked, even if the power supply to the
electric heater is interrupted. If the electric heater is switched on, the boiler thermostat indicates a heat
request, but the LED indicator does not light up, the power supply to the electric heater is interrupted.

Failure to observe the installation condition can lead to malfunction or damage of equipment.
• Automatic bleeders always have to be installed above the level of the oil pump.
• At least 50% of the length of the fuel line should be ascendingly mounted.
• Do not interchange the feed and return connection!

Note:
To maintain warranty the fuel burner must be equipped with an oil lter for a
one-pipe system with return line, an automatic bleeder, and a micro lter. (see
below)
The supplied silicone hose for the ventilator leads the air to the burner for com-
bustion. This avoids diesel odors.
The fuel is taken from the vehicle fuel tank or from a separate fuel tank.
Use fuel lines with a internal diameter of 6 mm (max. 10 mm) for the connec-
tion between the fuel tank and the oil lter.
Dierent diameters with the approval of the manufacturer only.
Unsupported fuel lines must be secured to prevent them from sagging.

Repeated emtying of fueltank can cause damage to the burner!
If the heater is operated without fuel it can cause damage (e. g. on the oil nozzle).

Permitted dimension for the combustion air supply:
- inner diameter: 50 mm (MH 30 and larger: 80 mm), micro: 75mm
- maximum permitted line length: 10 m
- maximum bends: 270 °
exhaust pipe
The exhaust pipe opening must not point in the direction of travel.
The exhaust pipe opening must be located so that it cannot become clogged with mud or snow.
Use exible or rigid alloyed steel pipes that are heat and acid resistant for the exhaust system. Secure the
exhaust pipe with a hose clamp, for example. Read the statutory regulations for other requirements.
•
The exhaust line must be insulated, if it is installed near heat-sensitive parts of the vehicle or inside a box.
The exhaust opening can not be located underneath the combustion air intake! Do not install the exhaust
pipe opening in a proximity of less than 50 cm to the combustion air intake.
CAUTION!
Under no circumstances may the combustion air be taken from areas occupied by people. It must be
located so that it can not become clogged with dirt or snow and can not suck in splash water.

The combustion air intake must not be installed above the exhaust or closer than 50 cm. In case of the
operation of the burner dependent on the ambient air (i.E. inside a box), ensure adequate fresh air supply
to the heater box of the vecicle. Concentric air / exhaust system (LAS) is possible.
If the heater is installed in an enclosed box a ventilation opening measuring at least 50 cm2is
required.
If the heater is installed in a general installation space near the vehicle‘s fuel tank, the combustion air
must be taken in from the outside and the exhaust fumes discharged into the atmosphere. The openings
must be splash-water-proof.

The air pressure switch controls the burner fan and is connected to the solenoid
valve of the oil pump. The solenoid valve opens only when there is sucient air
pressure provided by the fan to start the combustion process.
The ame detector evaluates the burner ame condition by its icker fre-
quency through the light detector tube of the mixing cartridge.

The lockout reset button is the key operating element for resetting, activat-
ing / deactivating, and diagnostics.
The multi color signal lamp behind the clear cover of the lockout reset
