1.4 General safety instructions
1.4.1 Explosion protection

When used in potentially explosive atmospheres:
Preclude possible ignition sources (e.g. hot surfaces, open flames, hot
gases or liquids, mechanically produced sparks, adiabatic compression,
shock waves, exothermic chemical reactions, thermal reactions, the
spontaneous combustion of dust, electric arcs or the discharge of static
electricity or propagating brush discharges).
Never strike the dust filter with objects or tools (spark discharge).
1.4.2 Fundamental safety instructions

The operating instructions contain important information on using the dust filter.
Read the operating instructions thoroughly and keep them for later reference.

Do not connect the filter or start operations until after you have read and
understood the operating instructions fully.

Use only the connections, mounting holes and attachment materials that have
been provided.

Carry out mounting or removal only when the device is in an idle,
depressurized state.
►
Only qualified specialist personnel, mechanics and electricians are permitted to
perform the installation. Qualified specialist personnel are persons who have
received technical training and have the knowledge and experience –including
knowledge of applicable regulations –necessary to enable them to recognize
possible dangers and implement the appropriate safety measures while
performing tasks. The same applies to maintenance!

General safety regulations, European standards and VDE guidelines must be
observed and complied with.

It is not permitted to make changes to system components.

Protect the components from damage of any kind.

The dust filter must not be started or used until the operating instructions have
been read and understood.
These operating instructions are an integral part of the dust filter. They must accompany it wherever it
is transported.
1.5 Intended use
This dust filter is intended solely for filtering mechanical components in air. This device must not be
used to filter other media or liquids.
The vacuum must not exceed -500 mbar. Overpressure is not permissible. The dust filter is classified
as follows according to ATEX directive 2014/34 EU:
II 3G IIB T4
II 3D T135° C
The classification for the overall system is determined based on the component with the lowest
classification.

1.6 Non-intended use

1.7 Requirements and instructions for installation, maintenance and
operating staff

The operator must ensure that the personnel employed receive special
training for performing work in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Comply with the applicable national regulations.
All personnel working with the product must be familiar with basic mechanical and pneumatic
principles as well as the appropriate technical terminology.
To ensure safe operation, this work may only be performed by qualified personnel or trained persons
working under the supervision of qualified personnel.
Qualified specialist = an employee who has received technical training and has the knowledge and
experience –including knowledge of corresponding regulations –necessary to enable him or her to
recognize possible dangers and implement the appropriate safety measures while performing tasks.

2 Product Description
2.1 Versions
The dust filter is available in two different versions. The basic model STF 50 is included in delivery with
the hoist for explosion protection zones. The model STF 60 is available as a retrofitting kit for older
hoist models for explosion protection zones from year of manufacture 5/2017 or later.

3 Installation and Operation
Installation may only be carried out by qualified specialist personnel.
(See chapter 1.8, Requirements and instructions for installation, maintenance and operating staff).

Ensure that a potentially explosive atmosphere is not produced during
installation.
3.1 General operating information
Operating temperature between -40°C and +80°C
The filter must be watertight
Do not draw in warm air.
The unit must be easily accessible. (Checks, cleaning and replacing the filter cartridge)
For the tube lifter Jumbo, holes for mounting the filter are located on the
components used for blower attachment.
The tube lifter must not be operated without the dust filter.
3.1.1 Installation position for the dust filter
The dust filter can be installed vertically or horizontally. When mounting the unit vertically, ensure that
the dust collecting system (5) is at the bottom.

3.1.2 Mounting the dust filter
1. Prepare the holes in the crane column or wall bracket for attaching the dust filter.
If the product came with a blower console (1.1), there are
already mounting points for the dust filter.
2. Ground the dust filter (see chapter 3.2.1).
3. Screw the dust filter onto the mounting bracket (8) using two
M8 screws.
4. Prepare the vacuum hoses for grounding (see chapter 3.2.2).
5. Attach and ground the vacuum hoses with the hose clamps
(see 3.3).
3.2 Establishing equipotential bonding

Before replacing the filter cartridge, ensure that the vacuum generator is
switched off and that there is no residual vacuum.

Before blowing out the filter cartridge, put on eye protection and a respiratory
mask.

Grounding connections must be checked regularly to ensure explosion
protection.

All grounding wires for equipotential bonding must be provided with a green and yellow
cable. Minimum cross section 4 mm².
The equipotential bonding consists of an electrically conductive connection from the suction cup via
the operator handle, lift tube, rotary union, supply hose, dust filter, blower, and crane system to the
customer-supplied connection point for equipotential bonding. Additional grounding wires should be
installed on all moving parts.
3.2.1 Grounding the dust filter
The dust filter is grounded by three spring clips between the filter
cartridge and the filter housing.
1. Open the filter housing.
2. Insert the filter cartridge (6).
3. Ensure that the filter cartridge (6) is grounded with the housing
using three spring clips (6.1).
4. Close the housing cover.
3.2.2 Grounding the vacuum hoses
The vacuum hoses are grounded by the hose clamps and wire spirals.
During preparation, observe the relevant parts of the operating instructions for the hoist.
3.3 Attaching the hoses
The filter connections are optimized for the internal diameter of the vacuum hoses.
Attach the hoses using the hose clamps SSD (2) included in the delivery.
3.4 Resistance measurement
Measure the total resistance once the installation is complete.
In this process, observe the relevant parts of the operating instructions for the hoist.

4.1 Removing and cleaning filter cartridges

1. Open the filter housing.
2. Remove the filter cartridge (6) from the housing.
3. Replace heavily contaminated or damaged filter cartridge.
4. Blow the filter cartridges from the inside out (never wash or brush it).
Filter cartridges must be blown from the inside out using dry
compressed air (max. 5 bar) until there are no more dust formations.
5. Before installation, check the clean filter cartridge for damage to the
paper bellows and the rubber gaskets.
Damaged filter cartridges must not be reused.
If you are not sure, install a new filter cartridge.
6. Insert the filter cartridge (6).
7. Make sure that the filter cartridge is grounded (see chapter 3.2.1).
8. Close the housing cover.
To blow out the unit, set a pipe on a compressed-air gun that is bent at the end by
approx. 90°. The pipe must be long enough to reach the bottom of the cartridge.

5 Disposal
After replacement or after final decommissioning, the system, as well as the components and
assemblies that were replaced, are to be disposed of in accordance with country-specific guidelines.
