III.Operation
Usethe[FUNCTION]key to cyclethrough the
fourmain menus:
(1)thegreeting menu which appearsupon power
up, thetop lineofwhich printsthenameofthe
paging service provider,whilethebottomline
printsthecurrenttimeand date.
(2)&(3)thepublicmessagemenu, listofpublic
messagesavailable.

1.ReadingPrivateMessages
1.1 Reading Messages
Press the[READ]key whileatgreeting menu.
Thehighlighted numberrepresentsthemessage
isunread.
Press [READ]again to read thewholemessage
and otherearliermessages.

You may also usethe[UP]and [DOWN]key to
navigatethrough themessages. Attheend of
every message, thereceiving timeand dateare
appended along-sidethecall tone('A', 'B', 'C', or
'D')whoseuseisassigned by thepaging service
provider. To savememory, messageswith the
samecontentbutwith differentcall tonewill be
stored asonemessagewith aremindertag
appended.(i.e. repeated/duplicated call, theset-
ting dependson service provider)
1.2 Protecting OrDeleting Messages
Privatemessagescan bedeleted to free the
memory space they occupy. Importantmes-

sagescan beprotected to avoid accidental
deletion. Usethe[READ]/[UP]/[DOWN]
key to locatethemessageto beprotected /
deleted and then press the[FUNCTION]key.
Three optionsareavailable:(1)to protect( )
themessage;(2)to delete( ) themessage;
(3)to deleteall ( ) messages. Usethe[UP]
/[DOWN]key to choosean option and then
the[READ]key to confirmorthe[FUNCTION]
key to exit withoutchoosing any option.
When thedangerousdelete-all option ischosen,
theuserwill beasked to confirmagain.

1.4 NewAnd UnreadMessages
Amessageisregarded asunread iftheuserdoes
notpress any key when it isjustreceived.
Themessagenumberforunread messageswill be
marked in reversevideo mode. (Do notconfuse
with messagecontentreceived with errorwhich
isalso marked in reversevideo.)When ames-
sagejustarrives, it isdisplayed and thepagerwill
givean alerttone. Thealertcan bestopped by
pressing any key. If it isnotstopped during
alerting (thealerttimeissetby theservice
provider), themessageistreated asunread
message. (N.B. When anewmessagearrivesand
thememory isfull, thelastunprotected mes-

sagewill besqueezed outto makeroomforthe
newone.)
1.5 Power Management
To savepower, theLCDscreen will go back to
theOpening Screen ifthereisno key activity
for8 seconds(thetimedependson service
provider). If thepagerstill doesnotdetect
any key activity foranother4seconds(the
timedependson service provider), theLCD
screen will bepowered off. In thispowersaving
modethepagerisstill ableto receivemessages
asusual. If anewmessagearrives, thescreen
will beturned on automatically and themessage
will bedisplayed. Theusermay also turn on
thescreen explicitly by pressing any key.
2.ReadingPublicMessages
Press the[FUNCTION]key whileatgreeting
menu to go to thepublicmessagemenu and then

usethe[UP]/[DOWN]key to choosetheex-
pected item, press the[READ]key atlast.
Thehighlighted numberrepresentsthemessage
isunread. Press [READ]again to read thewhole
messageand othermessagesdown.
Theusermay also usethe[UP]and [DOWN]
key to navigatethrough themessages. Atthe
end ofevery message, thereceiving timeand
dateareappended. Publicmessagesmay notbe
protected ordeleted. Notethatthepaging ser-

vice providermay ormay notbroadcastpublic
messagesand thenumberofpublicmessagesde-
pendson theservice provider.
IV.UtilitesMenuOperation
1.AdjustingTheReal-TimeClock
Usethe[FUNCTION]key to go to theutilities
menu and then choosetheclock option ( )
using the[UP]/[DOWN]and then the[READ]
key.
Theusermay changethehour, minute, time
format(AM/FMormilitary), day, month and
yearin sequence. Usethe[DOWN]key to in-
creasethefieldsand the[UP]key to decrease.

fields, atlastsavetheexchangesand exit; exit
withoutchangeby pressing [FUNCTION]key.
2.ChoosingAudio,VibrationOr
QuiescencyAlert
Usethe[FUNCTION]key to go to theutilities
menu and then choosethealertoption using
[UP]/[DOWN]and then [READ]to toggle
among theaudio (), vibration (), and
mute()mode.

3.SettingTheAlarm
Usethe[FUNCTION]key to go to theutilities
menu and then choosethealarmoption ( )
using the[UP]/[DOWN]and then the[READ]
key.
Theusermay changethealarmon /off, hour,
minuteand timeformat(AMorPM). Usethe
[DOWN]key to increasethefield and the[UP]
key to decrease. [READ]key to sequence
through thevariousfields, atlastsavetheex-
changesand exit; exit withoutchangeby press-
ing [FUNCTION]key. When thealarmis
activated, abell icon ( ) will appearatthe
bottomrightcornerofthegreeting screen.

4.AdjustingTheLCD Contrast
Usethe[FUNCTION]key to go to theutilities
menu and then choosethecontrastoption
( ) using the[UP]/[DOWN]and then the
[READ]key.
Adjustto thedesired contrastusing the[UP]/
[DOWN]key and completeby pressing [READ],
exit withoutchangeby pressing [FUNCTION]
key.
5.ZoomFunction
Usethe[FUNCTION]key to go to theutilities
menu and then choosetheenlarging fontsop-
tion ( ) using the[UP]/[DOWN]key and

then confirmby pressing the[READ]key. The
fontsdisplayed on screen will beenlarged asfol-
lowing picture:
6.TurnPager Off
Usethe[FUNCTION]key to go to theutilities
menu and then choosethepower-off option
( ) using the[UP]/[DOWN]key and then
confirmby pressing the[READ]key. Unlike
thepower-saving mode, thepagerwill notre-
ceiveany messagewhen it isswitched off this
way. Press the[READ]key foronesecond to
turn on thepageragain.

V.ChangingBattery
When thebattery icon isshown and the"LOW
CELL"notice isgiven, and theicon ( ) will
appearon leftsideofthegreeting screen. It
meansthatthebattery almostrunsout.
Changeanewbattery by switching off thepager,
releasing thebattery doorlock, opening thebat-
tery door, removing theold battery, replacing
thenewbattery, closing thebattery door, and
then locking thedoor. Themessageswill be
keptforminimum15 minuteswhen thebattery
isremoved.
