6.) Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two
blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding
prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not
fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
7.) Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
8.) Only use attachments / accessories specified by the manufacturer.
9.) Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
10.) Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has
been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled
or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture,
does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

the year2099!Leap Yearstoo!And bestofall,the long lifelithiumbatterybackup
batteryisalreadyinstalled inyourradio.You don’thavetoremembertoputanew
9-voltbatteryinyourradioevery6months.Undernormalcircumstancesthe lithium
batterycan lastforup to5years,and when itdoesneed tobe changed,alow
batteryindicatorwill comeontoletyouknow.TheCR2430lithiumbatteryisavailable
almostanywherethatbatteriesaresoldand itcostsaboutthe sameasanormal
9-voltbattery.
The E-ZSetalsogivesyou dualalarmsthatcan be settogo off on weekdays only,
weekendsonly,orall 7days.You can setone alarmtowakeyou up tobuzzer
Mondaythrough Fridaywhen you havetogetup early,and usethe second alarm
towakeyou up tosoft musicon Saturdayand Sundaywhen you can sleep in.

UNPACKINGAND SETUP
•Removethe radiofromthe carton and removeall packing materialfromthe
radio.Wesuggestthatyou savethe packing material,ifpossible,inthe unlikely
eventthatyourradioeverneedstobe returned forservice.The originalcarton
and packing materialisthe onlysafewaytopack yourradiotoprotectitfrom
damage intransit.
•Removeanydescriptivelabelsorstickerson the frontortop ofthe cabinet.
Donotremoveanylabelsorstickersfromthe back orbottomofthe cabinet.
•Notethe serialnumberon the bottomofyourradioand writethisnumberinthe
spaceprovided on Page 20 ofthismanual.
•Placeyourradioon alevelsurfacesuchasatable,desk orshelf, convenient
toan ACoutlet, outofdirectsunlight, and awayfromsourcesofexcess heat,
dirt, dust, moisture,humidity,orvibration.
•Unwind the ACpowercordand extend ittoitsfull length.The FMantenna is
builtintothiscord.It mustbe fullyextended toprovide the bestFMreception.
PREPARATIONFORUSE
PROTECT YOUR FURNITURE
Thismodelisequipped withnon-skidrubber'feet'topreventthe productfrom
moving when you operatethe controls.These'feet'aremade fromnon-migrating
rubbermaterialspeciallyformulated toavoidleaving anymarks orstainson your
furniture.Howevercertaintypesofoil based furniturepolishes,wood preservatives,
orcleaning sprays maycausethe rubber'feet'tosoften,and leavemarks ora
rubberresidue on the furniture.Topreventanydamage toyourfurniturewestrongly
recommend thatyou purchasesmall self-adhesivefeltpads,availableathardware
storesand homeimprovementcenterseverywhere,and applythesepadstothe
bottomofthe rubber'feet'beforeyou placethe producton fine wooden furniture.

Thisradioisdesigned tooperateon normal120V60HzACpoweronly.Donot
attempttooperatethe radioon anyotherpowersource.You couldcausedamage
tothe radiothatisnotcovered byyourwarranty.
Thisradioshouldbe connected toanACoutletthatisalways ‘live’.Donotconnect
ittoan outletthatiscontrolled byawall switch.When the powertothe radiois
interrupted,the builtinlithiumbatterytakesovertomaintainthe timeand alarm
settings.Tomaximizethe lifeofthe lithiumbatterykeep the radioconnected toa
‘live’ACoutletatall times.
You will notethatthissystemisequipped withapolarized ACpowerplug having
one blade widerthan the other.Thisisasafetyfeature.If thisplug doesnotfitinto
yourexisting ACoutlet, do nottrytodefeatthissafetyfeaturebyfiling the wide
blade tomakeitfitintoyouroutlet. If thisplug will notfitintoyouroutlet, you
probablyhavean out-dated non-polarized ACoutlet. You shouldhaveyouroutlet
changed byaqualified licensed electrician.

SETTINGTHETIME,THEFIRSTTIME
IMPORTANT:The firsttimeyou connectyournewE-ZSetclock radiotothe AC
outletthe internalcomputerwill automaticallysetthe timecorrectlyforthe
EasternTimeZone,whichisthe initialdefaultsetting.
The displaywill scan forafew
secondsand then setthe correct
Month,Date,Dayand Timeinthe
Easternzone.
If you liveinthe EasternTimezone,there’s nothing elsetodo.Yourclock isset
correctlyand running.
If you do notliveinthe EasternTimezone you mustchange the defaultzone
displaytoyourownzone.You onlydo thisone timeand the E-ZSetwill remember
the newdefaultzone setting and will always returntothatsetting afterapower
interruption.
Thereare7timezonesprogrammed intoyourE-ZSetclock radioasfollows:
Zone 01 —AtlanticTime
Zone 02 —EasternTime(DefaultSetting)
Zone 03 —CentralTime
Zone 04 —MountainTime
Zone 05 —PacificTime
Zone 06 —Yukon Time
Zone 07 —Hawaiian Time
Tochange the defaulttimezone display,depress the TIMEZONEbutton.
The word“ZONE”appearsinthe
maindisplay,and thenumber“2”will
appearon the small display,
indicating thatthe defaultzone is
Zone 2,EasternTime.
Holdthe TIMEZONEbutton and then press eitherthe UPorDOWNbuttonsuntil
yourowntimezone appearson the display,then releasethe buttons.The clock
displaywill change tothe correcttimeinthe timezone you selected.The clock will
always returntothe correcttimeinthe zone you selected aftereverypower
interruption.If you movetoadifferenttimezone,simplychange the defaultzone

DATEDISPLAY
The correctmonthand dateappearinthe small display.The monthand date
areexpressed numericallyinthe MM/DD format.
Forexample,May21stwill be displayed as(5.21).Thisdisplayadjusts
automaticallyformonthsofdifferentlengths.
Forexample,atmidnighton February28th(2.28),the displaywill automatically
change toMarch1st(3.1),unless itisaLeap Year,inwhichcasethe display
will change toFebruary29th(2.29).
YEAR DISPLAY
Tosee the correctyear,depress the TIMEand DATEbuttonstogether.The
small displaychangesfrom‘month/date’to‘year’.
When you releasethe TIMEand DATEbuttonsthe small displayreturnsto
monthand date.
DAYLIGHTSAVINGAND LEAPYEAR ADJUSTMENTS
All DaylightSaving and Leap Yearadjustmentsaremade automaticallybythe
E-ZSetinternalcomputerasfollows:
•StartofDaylightSaving Time:
At“2:00AM”on the firstSundayinApril,the clock will automaticallyadvance
to“3:00 AM”.
•End ofDaylightSaving Time:
At“3:00 AM”on the lastSundayinOctober,the clock will automatically
resetto“2:00 AM”.
•LeapYear:
At“12:00 Midnight”on February28th,the calendardisplaywill change
to“2.29”.

Asaresultofthe newEnergyBill thatwaspassed byCongress inAugustof2005,
DaylightSaving Timeisscheduled tobe extended starting in2007.ThisE-ZSet
Clock Radiohasbeenprogrammed toadjustitselfautomaticallyforDaylightSaving
Timethrough 2006.Wehavealsoprovided instructionstoallowyou tochange
theDaylightSaving starting and ending datesfor2007 and beyond.You onlyneed
tomakethisadjustmentonceand then thisclock radiowill automaticallyadjust
itselfforthe newDaylightSaving Timethrough the year2099.
The instructionsforadjusting theDaylightSaving starting and ending dateswill be
found on aseparateaddendumsheetincluded withthisInstruction Manual.

MANUALTIMEADJUSTMENTS
Somepeopleliketosettheirclocks 5to10 minutesfasttomakesurethattheywill
always be on time.Even though the E-ZSetsetsthe timebyitself, you still have
the option ofadjusting the timemanuallyifyou wish.
Tomanuallyadjustthe timedisplaydepress and holdthe TIMEbutton,and press
eitherthe UPorDOWNbuttonstoadjustthe timedisplayahead orback asdesired.
Eachpress ofthe UPorDOWNbuttonswill change the displaybyone minute.
If you holdthe UPorDOWNbuttonsthe displaywill continue tochange.The display
will change slowlyatfirst, one minuteatatime.Butifyou continue holding the UP
orDOWNbuttonsthe displaywill change rapidly.
Note:If you manuallyadjustthe time,yournewsetting isentered intothe
E-ZSetmemory.If the powerisinterrupted,the displaywill returntoyournew
setting,notthe originalsetting,when the powerisrestored.
ADJUSTINGTHEWAKEUPTIMES
YourE-ZSetclock radiohastwoseparatealarmsthatcan be setand used
independently.You mayusethe alarmstowaketwopeopleatdifferenttimes,or
you mayuseone alarmforweekdays and the otherforweekend wakeup times.
The procedureforadjusting the wakeup timeisthe sameforbothAlarm1and
Alarm2.
1.)Depress and holdeitherthe ALARM1orALARM2setting button.The main
displaywill change fromthe correcttimetothe Alarm1orAlarm2wakeup
time.
2.)Whileholding the ALARM1orALARM2setting button,depress eitherthe UP
orDOWNbutton tomovethe displayahead orback toyourdesired wakeup
time.
3.)When the desired wakeup timeappearson the display,releasethe UPor
DOWNbuttons.
Note:Besurethatyou havesetthe wakeup timecorrectlybyobserving
the AMindicator.If the AMindicatoris‘On’the wakeup timeis“AM”.If the
AMindicatoris‘Off’,the wakeup timeis“PM”.
4.)When the desired wakeup time(AMorPM)appearson the display,release
the ALARM1orALARM2setting buttons.

SELECTINGTHEALARMMODE
YourE-ZSetclock radioallowsyou toselectfromamong three differentalarm
operation modesforeitheralarm.The alarmmodesare:
•Weekdays only-the alarmwill onlyturnon Mondaythrough Friday;
•Weekendsonly-the alarmwill onlyturnon Saturdayand Sunday;
•Everyday -the alarmwill turnon all 7days.
Tocheck theAlarmMode setting forAlarm1,depress theALARM1setting button.
The displaywill showtheAlarm1wakeup timeand the dayofthe weekindicators
will showyou whichalarmmode isselected.
•If all 7indicatorsare‘On’,the Everydaymode isselected.
•If onlythe Mondaythrough Fridayindicatorsare‘On’,the
Weekdays onlymode isselected.
•If onlythe Saturdayand Sundayindicatorsare‘On’,the
Weekendsonlymode isselected.
Tochange the AlarmMode setting forAlarm1,holdthe ALARM1setting button
and press the ALARMMODEbutton until the dayindicatorsshowthe desired
mode setting,Weekdays only,Weekendsonly,orEverydayoperation.Release
the ALARMMODEand ALARM1setting buttonsand the displaywill returntothe
correcttime.
Followthe sameproceduretoselectthe desired AlarmMode forAlarm2if
necessary.
CHECKINGTHEWAKEUPTIMES AND ALARMMODE
Wheneveryou wanttocheck the wakeup timeorthe alarmmode settings,simply
press eitherthe ALARM1orALARM2setting buttons.The displaywill change
fromcorrecttimetowakeup timeand the dayindicatorswill showyou whichalarm
mode iscurrentlyselected.
Releasethe ALARM1orALARM2setting buttonstoreturntocorrecttime.

1.)Setthe Band selectortothe desired band,AMorFM.
2.)Setthe VOL(Volume)controltoalowsetting.
3.)Press the RADIOON/OFF button toturnthe radio‘On’.

5.)Adjustthe VOLcontroltothe desired setting.
6.)When you arefinished listening,press the RADIOON/OFF button toturnthe
radio‘Off’.
ANTENNA INFORMATION
AM-TheAMbarantenna isinside the cabinet. IfAMreception isweak,change the
position ofcabinetuntil the internalantenna picks up the strongestsignal.
FM-The FMantenna isbuiltintothe ACpowercord.If FMreception isweaktry
varying the position and direction ofthe powercorduntil you find the strongest
signal.

WAKETORADIO
1.)Turnthe radio‘On’and selectthe band,station,and volumelevelthatyou wish
tohearwhen the alarmcomeson,then turnthe radio‘Off’again.
2.)Reconfirmthe wakeup timeand alarmmode settingsforthe alarmyou are
using,Alarm1,Alarm2,orbothalarms.
3.)Setthe ALARMselectorswitchforone orbothalarmstothe RAD (Radio)
position.The appropriateAL1and/orAL2indicatorswill lightup toconfirm
thatthe alarmsareset.
4.)Atthe selected wakeup timethe radiowill turn‘On’.It will playforone hourand
then shutoff automatically.
5.)Tostop the radiosooner,press eitherthe appropriateALARM1orALARM2
button,orpress the RADIOON/OFF button.The radiowill stop butthe alarm
remainssetand will turnthe radioon againatthe sametimeon the following
day(depending on the AlarmMode setting).
6.)If you do notwantthe alarmtoturnthe radioon the following day,setthe
appropriateALARMselectortothe “OFF”position.

WAKETOBUZZER
Note: Alarm 1 and Alarm 2 have different buzzer sounds.
•Alarm 1 is a “Single beep” sound.
•Alarm 2 is a “Double beep” sound.
You will be able to tell which alarm is going off by the sound that it makes.
1.)Reconfirmthe wakeup timeand alarmmode settingsforthe alarmyou are
using,Alarm1,Alarm2,orbothalarms.
2.)Setthe Alarmselectorswitchforone orbothalarmstothe BUZ(Buzzer)
position.The appropriateAL1and/orAL2indicatorswill lightup toconfirm
thatthe alarmsareset.
3.)Atthe selected wakeup timethe buzzerwill sound.It will continue forone hour
and then shutoff automatically.
4.)Tostop the buzzersooner,press eitherthe appropriateALARM1orALARM2
button.The buzzerwill stop butthe alarmremainssetand will turnthe buzzer
on againatthe sametimeon the following day(depending on theAlarmMode
setting).Tostop the buzzerand turnon the radioimmediately,press the
RADIOON/OFF button instead ofthe ALARM1orALARM2button.
5.)If you do notwantthe alarmtoturnthe buzzeron the following day,setthe
appropriateALARMselectortothe “OFF”position.
RADIO AND BUZZEROPERATION
You mayalsosetone alarmfor“WakeToRadio”andtheotherfor“WakeToBuzzer”.
Justsetthe ALARM1and ALARM2selectorswitchestothe desired positions.
SNOOZEALARM
Afterthe radioorbuzzeralarmsoundsinthe morning you maypress the SNOOZE
Barforafewmoreminutessleep.The appropriateAL1orAL2indicatorwill
‘flash’.
The alarmwill stop forapproximately9minutesand then turnon again.You may
repeatthe Snoozeoperation up toseven timesifdesired,butafterthe seventh
timethe alarmwill notturnon again.

SLEEP TOMUSICTIMER
You can programthe sleep timertoplaythe radioforup to90 minutesand then
shutoff automatically.
1.)Press the SLEEP button.
The small displaywill show“10”
and the radiowill begintoplay.
After10 minutesthe radiowill
shutoff automatically.
Eachtimeyou press the SLEEP button the sleep timerwill startat10 minutes.
Thisisthe sleep timerdefaultsetting.
2.)Toincreaseordecreasethe amountoftimethatthe radiowill playbefore
shutting off, holdthe SLEEP button and press eitherthe UPorDOWNbutton
tochange the displaytothe desired sleep time,up toamaximumof90 minutes
oraminimumof2minutes.
Note:When you change the sleep timerfromthe 10 minutedefaultsetting
toadifferentsetting,the newsetting becomesthe defaultsetting.Whenever
you activatethe sleep timeritwill beginwithyournewdefaultsetting and
countdowntozerofromthatpoint.

CHANGINGTHELITHIUMBATTERY
Likeall batteries,eventuallythe builtinlithiumbatterywill need tobe replaced.A
numberoffactors,suchas,the lengthoftimebetween the datethe radiowas
manufactured and the dateyou plugged itinforthe firsttimedetermine the amount
oftimebeforereplacement.During thisinitialstorage period,the lithiumbatteryis
supplying powertothe E-ZSetcomputermemory.Onceyou plug the radioin,
yourhouseholdoutletsuppliesthe power,and the batteryisnotbeing used.A
freshlithiumbatterycan supplypowertothe E-ZSetcomputerforatleast3years
even ifitisneverconnected toanACpowersupply.If yourradiowasconnected to
yourACsupplywithinafewmonthsafteritwasmanufactured,and you experience
onlythe normal,nuisancetype,shortduration powerinterruptions,yourbattery
maylastforup to5yearsoreven longer.
When the batterypowerdropsbelowacertainlevel,the BATT.LOWindicatorwill
‘flash’.When you see thisindicator,you shouldchange the batteryassoon asitis
convenientforyou todo so.Tochange the batteryproceed asfollows:
1.)Purchaseareplacement3Vlithiumbatterywhereverbatteriesaresold.The
batterytype isCR2430 orequivalent.
2.)Removethe batteryfromitspackage soitisreadytoinstall.
IMPORTANT:Leavethe radiopowercordconnected toyourACoutlet.
Thiswill provide powertothe E-ZSetcomputermemorywhilethe original
lithiumbatteryisremoved.
3.)Useasmall screwdrivertoremovethe twosmall screwssecuring the battery
holderon the back cabinet.
BECAREFULNOTTOLOSE THESE SMALL SCREWS!
4.)Removethe batteryholderfromthe cabinet. Then removethe originalbattery
fromthe holderand insertthe newbatteryintothe holderthe sameway.
5.)Slide the holderwiththe
newbatteryback intothe
opening inthe cabinet.
6.)Replacethe twoscrews
thatsecurethe battery
holderinthe cabinet, and
confirmthatthe BATT.
LOWindicatoris‘Off’.
7.)Savetheseinstructions.

RESETTINGTHECLOCK AFTERATOTALMEMORYLOSS
If you do notchange the builtinlithiumbatterywithinareasonableperiod oftime
afteryou see the BATT.LOW‘flashing’warning indicator,the lithiumbatterymay
becomeexhausted and will no longerbe abletosupplyback up powertothe E-Z
Setinternalcomputer.If the unitisdisconnected fromtheACoutletafterthe battery
isexhausted,orifapowerinterruption occurs,the E-ZSetmemorywill be lostand
the clock will need tobe resetwhen the powerisrestored.Besuretoinstall afresh
lithiumbatterybeforeyou resetthe clock,otherwisethe clock will need tobe reset
eachtimethe powerisinterrupted.
If the lithiumbatteryisexhausted and you experiencean interruption inthe AC
powersupply,the clock will resetitselftoitsinitialdefaultsetting when the poweris
restored.
The initialdefaultsetting is“AM12:00,Saturday,January1st(1.1),2005”.
If you noticethatthe Timeon yourE-ZSetclock radioiscompletelyincorrect, the
Month/Dateand Dayindicatorsarealsowrong,you probablyexperienced atotal
memoryloss.
Toresetthe clock afteratotalmemoryloss,proceed asfollows:
1.)Followthe instructionson page 17 and install anewCR2430 lithiumbatteryin
the batterycompartment.
2.)Connectthe radiotoyourACoutletand letthe clock setitself.
3.)Depress the TIMEand DATEbuttonstogether.The small displaywill change
from‘month/date’to‘year’.
Whileholding the TIMEand DATEbuttons,press the UPorDOWNbutton to
setthe small displaytothe correctyear,then releasethe buttons.
4.)Depress the DATEbutton and the UPorDOWNbutton tosetthe small display
tothe correctmonthand date.The Dayindicatorwill change automaticallyas
you adjustthe month/datesettings.When the correctmonthand dateappear
on the display,releasethe buttons.
Depress the TIMEbutton and the UPorDOWNbutton tosetthe maindisplay
tothe correcttime.Besuretoconfirmthatyou havesetthe timecorrectlyto
“AM”or“PM”byobserving the AMindicator.

5.)Afteryou setthe time,reconfirmthattheDayand Month/Datedisplays arestill
correct. Makefinaladjustmentsifnecessary.
The E-ZSetclock memoryisnowresetand the newlithiumbatterywill maintainit
forthe next5to8years,depending on the numberand duration ofthe power
outagesyou experience.
IMPORTANTNOTE:
Afterresetting the clock,don’tforgettoresetyourwakeup times,and alarm
mode settings,and sleep timersettingsaswell.
