English - WARRANTY
The products manufactured at our factories in Skelmersdale carry a warranty of 12 months (unless stated otherwise) for
parts, labour and return to site. The warranty period runs from the date of purchase by the end user. (Proflow2 SC 120 = 36
months or 1800 hours.)
These products are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship at the time of delivery. Scott Safety will
be under no liability for any defect arising from wilful damage, negligence, abnormal working conditions, failure to follow the
original manufacturers instructions, misuse or unauthorised alteration or repair.
Evidence of purchase date will need to be provided for any claims arising during the warranty period. All warranty claims
must be directed through Scott Safety Customer Services and in accordance with our sales return procedure.

1. General
oProflow is a respirator system designed to supply filtered air for use in dangerous environments.
oThe device consists of a waist-mounted battery-driven blower and two filters.
oAir is drawn through the filters by an electronically-controlled fan and led through the breathing hose
into the facepiece.
oModel SC: The operation data can be read at a service center by a computer programme.
2. Limitations of use
2.1 This product must only be used by trained persons fully aware of workplace hazards.
2.2The filtering device must not be used if the environment and contamination is unknown. In case of
doubt, isolating respirators (air supply) which function independently of the atmosphere must be
used.
2.3The filtering device must not be used in confined spaces (e.g. cisterns, tanks) because of the risk of
oxygen deficiency or presence of heavy oxygen-displacing gases (e.g. carbon dioxide).
2.4The filtering device may be used only if the oxygen content of the air is 1823 vol.%.
2.5Gas filters do not protect against particles. Similarly, particle filters do not provide protection against
gases or vapours. In case of doubt, use combined filters.
2.6 Normal filtering devices do not protect against certain gases such as CO (carbon monoxide), CO2
(carbon dioxide) and N2(nitrogen).
2.7Particle filters are only allowed for single use if they are applied against radioactive agents or micro-
organisms (virus, bacteria, fungi and spores).
2.8It is likely that adequate protection cannot be guaranteed
or clothing intrude into the face seal.
2.9When a breathing protector is used in potentially explosive atmospheres, please follow the
instructions given for such areas.
2.0The blower must be running while using the respirator. If the blower turns off by accident, the
device ceases to function as a respirator, and carbon dioxide levels may instantly rise. This is
considered an exceptional situation
2.11 At a very intense working pace, the pressure in the facepiece can change into negative pressure at
peak inhalation.
2.12 Protection levels may be reduced if wind speed exceeds 2 m/s.
2.13 Recommended operation conditions -10...+40 C, relative humidity (RH) under 95 %.
2.14Filters must not be fitted directly to the the face shield or breathing hose.
2.15 Working with open fire or molten metal splashes poses a risk of ignition for filters containing
activated carbon (gas filters and combined filters), whereby hazardous toxic concentrations can
rapidly build up.

3. Technical information
oThe complete blower unit consists of a blower body, a blower, a breathing hose, a belt, a battery,
and a recharger.
Two thread filters must be attached to the blower device. The connection thread of the filters and the
breathing hose of the blower device conforms to the standard EN 148-1.
With the Proflow2, always use 2 filters of the same type and class.
oDisplay and alarm buzzer.
oRechargeable NiMH battery 9,6V/power. Battery can be recharged 400-500 times.
oAccessory: Instead of the battery, one can use a power supply (230 VAC), or a lighter socket cable
(12 VDC) for vehicles. In case the optional power supplies are used, the battery (snap coupling)
must be detached.

4. Battery
General
oCharge the battery before use. The recharging time of an empty battery is about 7 hours. The
temperature of the battery to be recharged must be +10...+ 30 C.
oRecharging should always take place at a room temperature of about +20 C, in a dry place shielded
from dust and direct sunlight.
oThe recharger
performs a battery test at start of each charging to detect defective batteries.
oOptimum performance with new battery packs is achieved only after they have completed three
charge-cycles.
Note!
oA new battery or a battery stored for a longer period or an over-discharged battery may not
function stably, which will terminate the recharging prematurely. Monitor the red signal light
(=charging in operation) after e.g. 30 or 60 minutes and initiate the recharging several times if
needed.
oIn too cold/warm an environment the battery will not be charged.
oNever recharge in a potentially explosive environment!
oWhen not in use, prevent over-discharge of battery by keeping the blower device always on
recharge. Overcharging of battery is automatically prevented.
Recharging
Connect the recharging device to the main power supply (100-240 V/ 50 Hz). When not connected
to the blower device, the signal light will not start burning.
Push the recharging plug into the charging connector and turn the plug slightly clockwise until it sits
fast, otherwise the battery will not be charged. The charging will start automatically.
o red signal light remains on. The time needed depends
on the battery status.
oRecharging is complete when the red signal light goes out, and the green signal light starts burning
and stays on (standby level).
oThe recharging plug will come off when you pull the locking and simultaneously turn the plug
counter-clockwise. Then close the protective lid.

5. Display and buzzer
The blower device contains a display which indicates the battery status
and the fan motor power. The device will provide full protection in the
range A9-A0 and P9-P0 as long as the alarm does not go off.
Symbol A (green) = battery status
oThe display shows A8-A9 when the battery is fully charged, and A0 when the battery is empty.
oFor low battery the device gives a warning sound and A0 will start blinking on the display. After the
warning the blower device will operate normally another 510 minutes, after which the air flow will
deminish under the minimum flow rate.
Symbol P (green) = power indicator
oThe power needed is very much dependent on the filters and facepiece used. A low P-range does
not itself indicate any defect on the blower.
oWhen the display shows P9, the blower device will easily reach the minimum flow rate. When the
display shows P0, the blower device reaches the minimum flow rate only with full motor power. This
makes the battery run down rapidly.
oIf the blower device no longer reaches the minimum flow rate, the buzzer will sound and P0 will flash
on the display. Decreased P-status can be caused by clogged filters or for instance a throttled
breathing hose. Check the filters and free air flow to the facepiece.
6. Use

Always use 2 filters of the same type and class.

no loose components/contents. The filter shall be replaced if it has been exposed to strong press or
impact. It may be damaged, also by a fall on a hard surface, also when attached to a blower device.

Check adequate air flow and state of the battery
Assemble all items ready for use (facepiece connected) but do not don the unit.
Start the blower by switching to position | so the buzzer will sound.
Battery status A8-A9 indicates a fully charged battery. Lower A-indication is safe to use but indicates
that the battery is not full. Full duration time will require a fully charged battery.
Donning instructions for the facepieces are given in the respective Instructions for Use.

7. After use
Stop the blower device by switching to position 0.
The blower device must always be turned off from the switch, also if the
device has stopped due to low battery.
Doff the unit. Carry out the necessary maintenance for the blower device
and recharge the battery.
Decontamination
In applications where this equipment is exposed to or in contact with a
hazardous material, national or local regulations specific to that material must be
followed when decontaminating the equipment before cleaning and maintaining
it.
Under shower
No need to detach any components.
Stop the blower device.
Filters face down. Do not spray water into the filters (=air channel).
Filters must always be replaced after shower-cleaning.
After showering during exit procedures and before further cleaning of the
blower, disconnect the hose and seal the blower outlet and remove the filters
and seal the blower inlets, using the screw caps provided (2023305). Take care
during this operation to prevent materials entering these areas. See page 2.
Cleaning
Clean with a damp cloth or sponge. When necessary, a ready-for-use device (breathing hose
connected) can be cleaned under shower, with the filters facing down. Do not spray water into the
filters. Filters must be replaced after shower-cleaning.
Do not use solvents (e.g. acetone, turpentine). Never clean with compressed air or compressed
water.
Storage
Store protected from direct sunlight, at -10...+30 °C and relative humidity (RH) under 75 % (sealed
filters RH max. 95 %).
Interim recharging
Deep discharge of the battery during long-term storage can be prevented by keeping the blower device
on recharge.
However, if standby charging is unpractical, batteries can be interim-recharged e.g. three times a year.
Prior to use, at least one cycle of discharge and charge should be carried out.
Disposal
See WEEE.
A very contaminated blower device as well as used filters are special refuse and shall be disposed
of according to the filtered substances (gases or particles).
Discarded batteries are hazardous waste. Make sure that they are disposed of according to waste
treatment regulations.

8. Maintenance
The blower device shall be serviced at least once a year by a Service Center authorized by Scott
Safety (http://www.scottsafety.com).
Replace worn-out filters. Always replace all filters at the same time.
Check that the breathing hose is undamaged and replace a broken one. Replace other parts when
necessary.
Only use original spare parts.
Maintenance of the facepieces is described in the respective Instructions for Use.

Replacing the battery (see picture series)
1 Detach breathing hose.
2 Detach body tensioner and adaptor.
3 Remove blower from its body by turning it towards yourself with your fingertips (using your thumb
to grip the blower).
4 Carefully take hold of the battery leads and pull the battery out of the blower body.
5-6 Open the connector and replace the battery. (The rubber band included with the battery will secure
the connector in the proper position.) Reattach the connector. Press the battery in to its base.

2. Käyttörajoitukset
2.1 Tämän suojaimen käyttäjän tulee tuntea suojainten käyttö ja olla selvillä työpaikan vaaroista.
2.2Suodatinsuojaimia ei tule käyttää, mikäli ympäristöolosuhteet ovat tuntemattomia. Epävarmoissa
tapauksissa tulee käyttää eristäviä hengityksensuojaimia, jotka toimivat ympäristön ilmasta
riippumatta.
2.3Suodatinsuojaimia ei tule käyttää ahtaissa tiloissa (esim. säiliöt, tankit), joissa voi esiintyä
happivajausta tai raskaita happea syrjäyttäviä aineita (esim. hiilidioksidi).
2.4Suodatinsuojaimia saa käyttää vain, mikäli epäpuhdas ilma sisältää 1823 tilavuus-% happea.
2.5Kaasunsuodattimet eivät suojaa hiukkasilta. Vastaavasti hiukkassuodattimet eivät suojaa kaasuja
eivätkä höyryjä vastaan. Epäselvissä tapauksissa tulee käyttää yhdistettyä suodatinta.
