INTRODUCTION
The SECOPAGE 35E or SECOPAGE 35E7 connect to most burglar alarm
control panels or any communications device with identifiable outputs when
triggered.
The SECOPAGE 35E and SECOPAGE 35E7 security pagers consist of two
parts: a transmitter which includes trigger and timing circuitry, and the
matching receiver (the "beeper"). The transmitters have a maximum output
power of 4 Watts. The compact ultra-sensitive pager receivers can sense the
transmitted signals up to 2 miles away, depending on antenna and
environmental conditions.
The transmitter is mounted inside the premises to be protected. A page
signal is sent by the transmitter upon an unauthorized entry attempt or a
manual page. The receiver beeps and the alphanumeric LED lights when it
receives the page signal. The receiver can also vibrate for silent paging
(included with the SECOPAGE 35E7, optional on the SECOPAGE 35E.
The receiver can be programmed to receive page signals from 3 separate
premises. The two 1.5V AAA-sized batteries in the receiver last up to one
month with normal use.

first connected to power. The LED display shows which car or building is
sending the signal (A, b, C).
!Receiver power-up — Beeps twice each time the receiver is turned on.
!Unattended indicator — Beeps once every 60 seconds if the user
ignores a page signal. Press the ON/OFF switch to stop the beeping and
display the new signal.
!Low battery indicator — Beeps twice every 5 minutes when the batteries
are low and need replacement. The LED display shows "L" if the ON/OFF
button is pressed.
!Viewing the page memory — The receiver remembers the last 6 pages
(ignores consecutive duplicates). Scroll through the memory history by
repeatedly pressing the ON/OFF button. The page signals are shown one
by one, starting with the most recent. Keeping the ON/OFF switch
depressed repeatedly displays the currently-shown signal. The LED
display shows "-" to indicate either you have seen all the pages in

CODE-LEARNING THE RECEIVER
The included receiver must learn the transmitter's page code before it
can receive signals from that transmitter. The receiver can learn the
page codes of up to 3 transmitters using the following procedure:
1. Turn the receiver OFF. Then press and hold down the ON/OFF
switch, and slide it to the ON position. The LED display will show "≡".
Continue pressing and holding the button for about 3 seconds until
the receiver beeps once. The LED display will flash "A" every 2
seconds. This means the receiver is ready to learn the page code
from the "A" transmitter.
2. Trigger the transmitter (or press the manual page button). This sends
the page signal to the receiver. The receiver will beep 5 times and
the LED display will turn OFF to confirm it has received and learned
the code. The receiver will return to the standby state in about 4
minutes if it did not successfully learn the code.
3. To learn the page code from the "B" (second) transmitter, press the
receiver's ON/OFF switch once so that the LED display turns to "b."
Then repeat step 2. Repeat steps 3 and 2 again for the "C" (third)
transmitter if needed.
NOTE — The receiver stores the transmitter codes in EEPROM. This
memory is maintained even without power for a long period of time
(over 1 year). The receiver does not need to re-learn the transmitter
codes after battery replacement.
The stored transmitter codes cannot be erased. They can only be
written over by another code learning sequence.
USING THE RECEIVER (BEEPER)
!Trigger duration — The pager transmits the page signal for about 30
seconds, whether or not the triggered zone is reset. If the same zone
stays triggered, the transmitter will not start a new transmission cycle.
However, a new cycle will start once another untriggered zone is
triggered.
!Trigger beeps — Beeps continuously for 3 minutes, at 9 beeps per
group, when it receives a triggered signal from the transmitter. The
digital LED display shows which premises is sending the signal (A, b, or
C). Press the ON/OFF button once, and the LED display shows which
REQUIREMENTS
The pagers connect to a burglar alarm control panel or any device with an
output which can be triggered for communication purposes. Please note:
!Output timing — This output can be momentary or latching. However,
note that once the pager is triggered, it will reset about one minute later.
This means any page signal will not trigger the pager until at least one
minute after the preceding page signal.
!Output signal — This output can be positive or negative. The pagers are
compatible with single wire outputs or relay outputs.
!Steady vs. pulsing output — Steady outputs are prefered. Pulsing outputs
will work only if the output lasts less than one minute. If a pulsed output
lasts more than a minute, the pager may be triggered more than once.
(Note: For the SECOPAGE 35E, an individual pulse must be a minimum
of one second, or the pager may not be triggered. A 100msec. pulse is
enough to trigger the SECOPAGE 35E7.)

supplied adhesive tape, secure the antenna to a nearby wall or window,
depending on where you get maximum range. Do not secure this
antenna to metal.
3. Regular car AM radio antennas are convenient, and generally offer
sufficient range. Just plug the antenna's plug into the transmitter's
“ANTENNA” jack.
Tuning the antenna for maximum range
The transmitter should be adjusted with a field strength meter to get the
strongest signal for its antenna. These meters can be purchased from most
electronic component shops. Or contact SECO-LARM (model X-PDC2).
1. Connect the antenna, and turn the field strength meter ON. Apply power
to the transmitter, and trigger it with the manual page button or any zone.
2. Tune L1 to get maximum power reading.
3. Then tune C1 to get maximum power reading.
4. Then tune C2 to get maximum power reading.
5. Fine tune by repeating steps 2, 3, and 4.

TRANSMISSION RANGE TEST
One person should trigger the pager while another is in a house, office, or
wherever the page signal should reach. This will assure that the user will
receive a signal for his/her particular application.
Press the ON/OFF button each time the receiver beeps. This returns the
receiver to the standby state, ready to receive the next page signal.
Maximum range is up to 2 miles. However, range can vary depending on
terrain, environmental conditions, type of antenna used, and so on.
When using the pager inside a building (especially a high-rise), keep the
receiver near a window or a telephone to help increase the effective range.
NOTE — For the transmission range test, stand at least 3 feet (1 meter)
away from the transmitter. Otherwise, you may experience erratic
operation.

MOUNTING THE TRANSMITTER
Carefully study how and where you will install the transmitter before you
start. For best results, please note the following:
!Mount near the alarm control panel or communications device to which it
will be connected (if applicable).
!The transmitter is NOT waterproof. Mount indoors, away from possible
moisture.
!Make sure the transmitter location is suitable for connecting an antenna.
!Do not mount in the path of heater or air conditioning vents.
!Mark locations where the bracket mounting holes will be drilled. Take
care the area to be drilled is free from wiring, trim, or other obstructions.
!Drill holes at your location marks. However, permanently mount the unit
until only after all connections and tests are made.
!Mount the remote manual paging button (if used) in a location were it
can be easily accessed when needed.
IMPORTANT — THE WARRANTY MAY BE VOIDED IF COMPONENTS
OR ACCESSORIES ARE NOT MOUNTED PROPERLY.
IMPORTANT — DO NOT POWER UP THE TRANSMITTER UNTIL THE
ANTENNA IS CONNECTED, OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE UNIT.
NOTE:
1. This method is suitable for the SECOPAGE 35E and SECOPAGE 35E7.
Only the red and black wires are used.
2. Use only if the panel outputs a STEADY siren/bell signal for a minimum
of 30 seconds when triggered.
3. Pager requires 1A of power during transmission.
4. The manual page button will not operate.
5. NOTE the pager is powered up only when the panel is triggered.

CONNECTING AND TUNING AN ANTENNA
You must connect the antenna before powering up the pager. Otherwise,
the unit will quickly burn out.
Antenna jacks (on the back of the transmitter)
1. "ANTENNA" — Connect to a car or CB antenna. The unit has an
impedance of 50 Ohms.
2. "RADIO" — Not used in this application.
Types of antennas:
The pagers can use one of three types of antennas:
1. CB radio antennas — Offer the longest range, but require a special
connector which can be purchased at Radio Shack or similar electronics
shops. Plug the CB antenna into the adapter, and plug the adapter to
the transmitter's “ANTENNA” jack.
2. Strip antennas (SECO-LARM model E-35ANT) offer convenience and
small size, but range is drastically reduced. Insert the strip antenna's
lead cable into the transmitter's “ANTENNA” jack. Then, using the
Alarm control panel or
communications panel
