ENGLISH

h) The capacity of the removable disk decreases
• Connect the player to the computer. Right click on “Removable Disk“ and select Format. The For-
mat dialog box appears. Select FAT32 from the file system options, click the Start button, and then
follow the prompts to complete the operation.
I) Why is the displayed nominal capacity of the player different from the actual capacity?
• Solution: The player utilises flash memory as its storage medium, and the capacity is taken from
flash memory specifications. The difference relates to the terminology in use. When the chips leave
the factory, there are differences between the actual capacity and the nominal capacity. This is be-
cause chip manufacturers and computer manufacturers use different ways of calculating capacity.
For example, the chip manufacturer calls 1024 bytes 1KB, this is the actual capacity. Computer ma-
nufacturers often call 1000 bytes 1KB, this is the nominal capacity. Furthermore, equipment needs
to use some memory to store its file systems and the programs it uses to display menu options etc.
So the nominal usable capacity is smaller than the actual capacity.
