Selva dealers and their trained mechanics when performing maintenance procedures and
r epairs to Selva equipment. It has been written to suit the needs of persons who have a
basic understanding of the mechanical and electrical concepts and procedures inherent in
the work, for without such knowledge attempted repairs or service to the equipment could
render it unsafe or unfit for use.
Because the Selva S.p.A. has a policy of continuously improving its prod-
ucts, models may differ in detail from the descriptions and illustrations given in this publica-
tion. Use only the latest edition of this manual. Authorized Selva dealers are notified peri-
odically of modifications and significant changes in specifications and procedures, and these
are incorporated in successive editions of this manual.

kern in einem einzigen Handbuch
zusammenzufassen.
Darum werden in diesem Handbuch
Grundkenntnisse des mechani-
schen und elektrischen Aufbaus
und der zur Wartung nötigen Ar-
beitsmethoden vorausgesetzt. Ver-
suchte Wartungs- und Reparaturar-
beiten ohne solche Kenntnisse
könnten den Außenbordmotor un-
sicher und/oder verwendungsun-
fähig machen.
Die Selva S.p.A.
ist immer danach bestrebt, alle von
Selva hergestellten Modelle zu
verbessern. Spezifikationen oder
Verfahren werden allen Selva-
Vertragshändlern mitgeteilt und

mientos mecánicos y eléctricos inhe-
rentes a dichos trabajos de manteni-
miento y reparación, ya que de no po-
seer tales conocimientos, las posibles
reparaciones o mantenimiento del
equipo podrían afectar adversamente
su seguridad y operatividad.
Puesto que Selva S.p.A.
sigue una política de mejora continua
de sus productos, puede que las es-

ence that contains comprehensive explanations of all disassembly, repair, assembly, and
inspection operations.
In this revised format, the condition of a faulty component will precede an arrow symbol and
the course of action required will follow the symbol, e.g.,

To assist you in finding your way through this manual, the section title and major heading is
given at the top of every page.

SERIAL NUMBER
The outboard motor’s serial number is
stamped on a label which is attached to the
port clamp bracket.
NOTE:
As an antitheft measure, a special label on
which the outboard motor’s serial number
is stamped is bonded to the port clamp
bracket. The label is specially treated so
that peeling it off causes cracks across the
serial number.

Le numéro de série du moteur hors-bord
est estampé sur une étiquette qui est
fixée du côté bâbord du support de ser-
rage.
N.B.:
A titre de mesure antivol, une étiquette
spéciale sur laquelle est estampé le
numéro de série du moteur hors-bord est
attachée au support de serrage bâbord.
L’étiquette a subi un traitement spécial
de sorte qu’en la décollant le numéro de
série se fissure.

Die Seriennummer des Außen-
bordmotors ist auf ein Etikett ein-
gestanzt, das auf der Backbord-
Seite der Klemmhalterung ange-
bracht ist.
HINWEIS:
Als Diebstahlsicherung ist die
Seriennummer des Außenbord-
motors auf ein Spezialetikett ein-
gestanzt, das auf der
Klemmhalterung auf der Back-
bordseite angebracht ist. Das Eti-
kett ist speziell behandelt, so daß
das Abziehen Risse über der Seri-
ennummer hinterläßt.

The procedures given in this manual are
those recommended by Selva to be fol-
lowed by Selva dealers and their
mechanics.
FIRE PREVENTION
Gasoline (petrol) is highly flammable.
Petroleum vapor is explosive if ignited.
Do not smoke while handling gasoline and
keep it away from heat, sparks and open
flames.
VENTILATION
Petroleum vapor is heavier than air and is
deadly if inhaled in large quantities. Engine
exhaust gases are harmful to breathe.
When test-running an engine indoors,
maintain good ventilation.
SELF-PROTECTION
Protect your eyes with suitable safety
glasses or safety goggles, when grinding or
when doing any operation which may
cause particles to fly off. Protect hands and
feet by wearing safety gloves or protective
shoes if appropriate to the work you are
doing.
OILS, GREASES AND SEALING
FLUIDS
Use only genuine Selva oils, greases and
sealing fluids or those recommended by
Selva.
