SHAKS S2i/S3i/S5i/S5b supporting four (4) modes, Android / Windows / iOS, and Mapping, each mode
of which is recognized as individual device by its corresponding host game device. For example,
when SHAKS is in android mode, it will connect to your android smartphone/tablet, it works like an
“android Gamepad”. But, if you connect it to a windows PC, it does not work correctly (for example, haptic
no function), because SHAKS says “I am in android mode”, but the PC can’t hear it, although its Bluetooth
connection is made.
First, please note that S3i can be paired to one device with an exactly matched mode. It is auto re-pair to
the same device once paired, but If you wish to switch from one device to another, please delete

Compatible Device & Service
S3i is Android, iOS portable mobile game controller for "on-the-go" gaming play, but it support also
Windows PC, Notebook, MaC PC, Chromebook, Apple TV, and Android TV box.
It is compatible for down-load gaming, Steam Epic Games as well as most of major cloud game
service such as Stadia, X-cloud, Geforce, Luna.
One step more, by our own SHAKS GameHub app, S3i let you to play AAA touch-gaming by console
grade controller, name a few, Garena Free Fire, CoD, PUBG, Genshin Impact, Roblox, Slamdunk etc.

Note) Please select exact mode matching to your device for 100% compatibility according
to each protocol. Otherwise, some feature is not supported fully although it looks like
connected!

Tips) S3i mode is initialized by booting. On power off status, the mode change is not validated. Once
you change mode, please reboot it by power off and on again.

Connect your device to controller
Mode change can be done by pressing the "Select+L1" button or "hotkey". Please the LED
indication in the below table. Click to Video
3 Step setup: In power-off status, press two keys simultaneously until booting. This setup is
available from xxx 13 (Dec. 21, 2020) firmware. If you have older version, please upgrade it via
SHAKS Gamehub app. See below how to do 3 step setup.

2. Change mode of gamepad by key or press “Hot Key* ” The default is Android mode. S3i
remember the last selected mode until you change it.
3. Press the 'Select + Start' button for more than 3 seconds and find ‘SHAKS S3i xxxx ’ on the
device & click to pair.
Tips)
- S3i is not supporting Xbox, Switch, PS4 console.
- In a same device, S3i is automatically pairing again whenever you use it again without
pairing process again (Auto-reparirng)
- S3i can be paired to one device per an exactly matched mode. If you wish to switch from
one device to another,
please delete previously log data from your device to de-activate its automatic repairing
feature. And make a new pairing process.
- Mode can be initialized by booting. During power on status, the mode change is not
validated. Once you change mode,
please reboot it by power off and on again.
How to use mode change in a sequential way: Press "Select+L1" button key together until LED on.
Then, automatically its power becomes off. Power on again, press "Select+L1" button again for
booting. And check the mode. If not it is not in right model, repeat this process until you see the right
LED position to match the mode you want to match. The mode will change sequentially from
Android→Windows, Mac→ iOS→ Android Mapping.
How to connect per each mode in detail process
Connecting with an Android Device
1. Mode Set-Up: When the power is off, press [ Power + L1] button simultaneously for booting.
2. Check Mode: Check if LED signals #1, #2 are off, #3, #4 are on. If yes, it is connecting to an
Android device. if no, please repeat the step above.
3. Bluetooth Pairing: Press [Select + Start] button simultaneously for 3 seconds. On your device,
select “SHAKS S3i xxxx Android”. Once paired, the gamepad will remember and will
reconnect automatically.
💡
Note) If you want to play mapping mode at the same Android device, please
delete “SHAKS S3i xxxx Android” from your device BT setting, then newly
connect it in Mapping Mode (for Android only)”. It is same vice versa.
Connecting with a Windows, Mac OS, Chromebook
If your PC do not support Bluetooth, please use “Wired Mode” or install Bluetooth dongle (any
standard BT 4.1 or higher) additionally.
1. Mode Set-Up: When the power is off, press [ Power + Select] button simultaneously for
booting.
2. Check Mode: Check if LED signals #1, #2, #3 are off, only #4 is on. If yes, it is connecting to
an Windows/Mac device. if no, please repeat the step above.

3. Bluetooth Pairing: Press [Select + Start] button simultaneously for 3 seconds. On your device,
select “SHAKS S3i xxxx Win-MAC”. Once paired, the gamepad will remember and will
reconnect automatically.
Tips)
- In case of Windows 10 or later, do not install any driver, already W10 has it. In case of
Windows 7, please install “Xbox 360 driver” driver first
on your PC downloadable from our website.
- While it is not required, we highly recommend to download utility application on our website (
Windows Shaks Application Manual ).
You can use our advanced features such as turbo, sniper (for shooting gaming) including FW
update.
- S3i support Mac OS Big Sur or later of Mac OS
- S3i cant be used in two OS devices by turn. It can be paired automatically to one device if the
other device is not available (power off, out of distance or BT disabled). But if two OS is on at the
same time, it can auto-matically paired to only one device. Once it paired into one device, S3i
can't pair another.
Connecting iOS device
1. Mode Set-Up: When the power is off, press [ Power + Start] button simultaneously for
booting.
2. Check Mode: Check if LED signals #1, #2, #4 are off, only #3 is on. If yes, it is connecting to
an iOS device. if no, please repeat the step above.
3. Bluetooth Pairing: Press [Select + Start] button simultaneously for 3 seconds. On your device,
select “SHAKS S3i xxxx iOS”. Once paired, gamepad will remember and will reconnect
automatically.
Playing on Mapping Mode (for Android only)
1. Mode Setting: When the power is off, press [ Power+ L1 + Select] button simultaneously for
booting.
2. Check Mode: Check if all LED signals are off. If not, please repeat step above.
3. Bluetooth Pairing: Press [Select + Start] button simultaneously for 3 seconds. On your device
select “SHAKS S3i xxxx Mapping”. Once paired, gamepad will remember and will reconnect
automatically.
4. Now you are ready to play games with mapped keys on your device! Only when you are in
the mapping mode you can use touch keys as gamepad controllers that you set up.
💡
Note) If you want to play mapping mode at the same Android device, please
delete “SHAKS S3i xxxx Android” from your device BT setting, then newly
connect it in Mapping Mode (for Android only)”. It is same vice versa.
Wired connecting with a USB Cable for Windows, Android device

1. Mode Set Up: When the power is off, press 'Start' button and connect to the host device
using USB cable (Sequence Important - 1st pressing and then power connect). Host device
will detect gamepad automatically.
2. Check Mode: Check if all signals are off while 'Power' button is on.
Tips)
- Recommended to use Windows 10 or later. If you are using Windows 7, please install “Xbox 360
driver” driver first on your PC that you can find on our website.
- With USB C to USB C cable, you can use “wired mode” with smartphone, connecting as
"Xbox compatible gamepad". It follow X-input protocol.
Reset & Initializing to recover setup process
If any issue during setup, please reset gamepad and your device as below.
1. Press “Select+Start” button for 6 second longer to delete the stored BT profiles
2. On your device’s Bluetooth setting, delete all paired profile regarding gamepad completely to disable
auto-searching trial.
3. Booting your device again to confirm all cached log deleted or waiting for a while (3 seconds,
automatically deleting process)
4. And repeat normal 3 step connection. 99.9% will be success !!
Tips)
- Reset key on gamepad is powered off by force in any emergency case.
- At any stage, you can go pairing status by pressing “Select+Start” button by pressing 6 seconds more
- The last paired profile will be tried to re-connect (auto repairing feature). If fail, next one is being tried in
a sequence.
- “Cached log data” can be cleared by OS by 2-5 minutes automatically. You can wait this auto clearing
process

How to find compatible game information
SHAKS is actively testing, verifying the compatibility with each game in each OS, device. Please visit our
compatible game list for searching relative information. Or install our Android GameHub app. Here is
example of tips you can find there ;
Play Call of Duty
- In iPhone/iPad, COD is playable by S2i/S3i/S5i without any setting change. In the case of Android
phone/tablet, two way is possible.
: 1st, By using the “Touch-mapping” by ‘SHAKS GameHub" App. Please download this app from
Google store, and refer to our manual.
2nd, or rename Shaks gamepad ID to “Xbox Wireless Controller” via ‘SHAKS GameHub" App.
renaming feature.
- COD’s tutorial stage is not supported but in the main gaming, it should work without any issue.

- This was originally designed to be touch-only game, not supporting game controller. This is not
something we can help you with.
- For Android, you can play by using our mapping service in SHAKS GameHub app downloadable
from Google Playstore.
Note and Useful tips
Charge battery by charging cable from a computer or USB power charging device.
- Low battery status : Fast blinking
- Under charging : Slow blinking
- Fully charged : Stop blinking
- It is recommended to be charged by USB cable. But you can charge it by power bank or general
power charger(5V-1A) as well. When you use ‘higher charger and fast speed charger’, please do it in
a short time, because this might shorten the life of the battery
iOS, iPad OS or mac OS (Apple), Android device connected via wire, all are not compatible with
mapping service. Also, all consoles such as Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch is not supporting
mapping mode.
In Wired connection, SHAKS Gamehub app is not working. This is under development now.
Mouse Mode works only on Android Mode. In other mode, it is not working.
iOS, iPad OS is not allowing any mapping application by their official policy.
Windows is not supporting mapping. Alternatively, you can use each game setting - key re-
assignment program. For example, in the Steam game, you can edit key mapping in the controller
setting menu. or try to use x360ce, Xpadder program.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE like old version OS (6.0.1 lower) can allow only S-pen. So, not able
to use multi-touch funciton

FQA in troubles in initial setup
I can't connect S3i to PC.
In most cases, this happens because the correct sequence is not followed. Do not insert the cable
first. Keep pressing "Start button" then connect the cable
Bluetooth connection is not established, interrupts or lost .
Quite often, BT scanning takes time and causes trouble. In most cases, rebooting your device will
solve the problem. You can reset the gamepad by pressing "Select+Start" button for more than 6
seconds. This will cause the gamepad to enter into pairing mode with default values (i.e deleting all
previous pairings in memory).
Please check following trouble shooting by yourself.
1. Pair the gamepad with other 2-3 devices to compare
2. Check the driver is installed as per below section
3. Check any RF obstacles between device and gamepad as per below section

4. Reboot the computer and check the steps 1-3 again.
→ After all if gamepad still can't be seen on the bluetooth window, it may have a hardware
defect, please contact our AS center for immediate service.
When Bluetooth connection, the game play is slow down and frame drop.
This may be due to the overload in CPU resources by your device. please release cache data in the
device.
or the application running at back-ground in your device, clear unwanted background applications.
or it can be generated by the game itself, example is 'Assassin's Creed: Valhalla", which shows a 20-
30 fps drop with BT controller on the trial version, while 'Assassin's Creed: Odyssey" dropped only 5
fps.
To check it if using other gamepad, there is not such issue, please contact us to check it in deep
technically.
I am not able to pair Bluetooth
In a lot of cases, RF interference with WiFi router can cause the problem. Please set WiFi RF band
from 2.4GHz to 5GHz. or manually select unused channel band among 1-13 channels in your WiFi
router setting.
Delete unused BT device from your device BT setting menu, because generally there is limitation of
max BT device connection (example, Galaxy 10, 15 BT device can be paire)
Single Mac ID is recognized as a single BT device. If you switch gamepad mode (for example,
Mapping mode ↔ Android), please delete the previously paired log. This is to avoid confusing one
Mac ID with two-mode.
Windows connection is made correctly, but I am not able to play game
1. Check the mode is in Windows
2. Initializing the connection referring to this link
3. Go to your game setting menu, enable gamepad setting
4. Go to Shaks Windows app, do the key test
5. Check your BT dongle or power feeding
6. Go to BT setting and check BT on status : Mosue, Keyboard, Pen must be "On" connected.

How do I connect Mac PC ?
Support from MacOS "Catalina and Big Sur", please set the mode as Windows Mode (Xinput).
Lower version of Mac is not supporting properly due to driver conflict issue
Can I use Mapping and Andriod at the same time?
Mapping and Android mode are two different modes. Android phones can pair each one of two-
mode. Switching between two-mode (Android ↔ Mapping), please DELETE the previously paired
log, and pairing newly once again.
Folder phone such as Samsung Fold2 is being supported ?
With its latest upgrade to Android 11 (One UI 3.0 later), it support. Please note out and inside
screen should be mapped separately
Model : Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Fold (v1), Galaxy Z Flip / Z Flip 5G
Not able to do mapping again
Delete that game from the list and add again can be solved. For example, Genshin Impact
1. Go to mapping service menu
2. Select Genshin Impact from the registered list
3. Select "Delete" option - then it will be disappeared
4. Add again Genshi in "new game list"
5. Do again mapping edit mode
Connected to my device but not able to play or pairing
99% case, this is due to mode miss-matching. Do reconnect by initializing your device and S3i and
pair again as above process.

The SHAKS Gamehub application is designed for a better gaming experience using SHAKS higher-end
series S2i, S3x, and S5x, including the sniper, turbo, mouse setting, calibration of the analog stick,
mapping feature, self-test, and FW remote update, etc. Also, it provides a compatible game list, its
playing tips, manual, tutorials. Please note that SHAKS has different application per each OS, and its
feature is different each other according to OS & device.
SHAKS keeps developing new features, updates via firmware or app release. Please keep updating your
gamepad and app up to date always for 100% using SHAKS feature sets.

Android SHAKS GameHub application is supporting S2, S2i, S3i, S5i, and future models.

This application is only for Android, not working with the Android TV OS series.
Any time, if disconnection appears, please check auto-sleep mode. When the gamepad get into sleep
mode to save battery, it also disconnects its BT connection with the phone and its companion app. .
Simply power on again, it will be paired again automatically

Installation and connection
It shows the model name, ID, FW Version of the connected
gamepad.
If it needs to update to the latest FW or any trouble in
connection, the below pop message appears.
Any connection error
This message pop-up in case that the mode of gamepad is
different from what the phone remember. In 99% of the case,
this happens, without deleting the connection log at the phone
BT setting, it connects with the different modes of gamepad. It
can be solved, release BT connection by pressing gamepad
icon 2-3 seconds on the screen, and reconnect it.
💡
Although is it the same Android phone, mapping
and android mode is different from each other. If you
use both by turn, please delete the pairing log and
make newly pair again.
Low firmware version of gamepad
Touch the menu and you can enter into the firmware update
feature.
Connect additional new gamepad
Click ‘+ Add gamepad' is to move to the new BT setting
screen.
Select the model name you want to connect.
The name of gamepad is different by model and mode.
Gamepad mode is changed but the phone connects it with the previous
mode.
If gamepad firmware is out-of-data, this message pops up.

How to use utility feature
This is for setting the feature, function over the gamepad and

Function key setting
Set function key as per your gaming style. Reach the
location of function key in each model. .
Function off : Disable Function button
Turbo
Pressing the selected button longer. then turbo action is
being activated. You can select turbo button by clicking
each box and then OK to store.
‘Option is used same meaning as function.

By pressing the function button, make LED #2 on (turbo
stand-by), then push the selected button for turbo action.
Sniper
When you want to control precisely L/R joystick, you can
set sniper enabled. Adjust the sensitivity upon each game
scene and your skill.
By pressing the function button, make LED #2 on (sniper
stand-by), then move the joystick.
Mouse (available only on Android mode, no support in
mapping mode)
By pressing the function button, make LED #2 on, then
control the below button and keys for the cursor control
- L stick : mouse cursor moving
- A button: left click
- B button: right-click
- R stick : wheel scroll (up/down/left/right direction)
Available button assignable to turbo: A, B, X, Y, LB(L1), RB(R1),
LT(L2), RT(R2)

- R stick: press the wheel button to click
Camera activation key (available only on Android mode, no
support in mapping mode)
When the camera application is running over the phone,
click this function key to do the camera capture feature. No
in the camera app, it works volume up key.
Call receive and media control (available only on Android
mode, no support in mapping mode)
By function button, you can receive incoming calls, or
music/video playing, pause, resume feature.
The setting of gamepad value
You can set power-save sleeping time, LED brightness,
calibration stick & trigger keys, and naming of gamepad
Sleeping time: 30 min is the default value, can adjust it to
5,10, 60 min.
LED Brightness: Adjust 15 steps, but no allow to switch off
completely
Calibration of a stick, trigger
[ Calibration] When you using a gamepad sometimes or
heavily, the position of the analog stick or trigger could be non-
centered. In such a case, this calibration app can adjust the
position accordingly again to be centered.
1. Select stick icon (LS/RS)
2. Draw stick and release it, move it to the center point

3. Calculating center value, waiting until complete.
4. Move the stick to each direction and wait until completed.
Up→ down→ left→ right direction by turn.

[Calibration of trigger (LT/RT or L2/R2) ]: If the trigger value
is not O when it is idle status without moving, or if it is not
reaching the max value when the triggered is fully pulled.
1. Start trigger calibration (LT/RT)
2. Pull it maximum and release slowly
3. Calculating center value, waiting until complete.
4. According to pop-up, push trigger, and wait the progress
bar moves.
5. After calibration complete, check its function and save to
exit

Release the connection of Gamepad: Release the
connection of gamepad with the Android device.
Rename gamepad: Select one of pre-set names or put
your own name on gamepad
- Basic
- Xbox Wireless Controller

- Customize the name

Once the name is changed, the connection will
be released. Please make a new pairing under
the new name. (BT profile initializing : S2/S3
press "Start+Select", S5 "BT trigger" key for more
6 seconds.
Initializing gamepad: Delete all stored data including
connection log. Please use this option in a critical case. To
activate this feature, press the button for long seconds.
Factory Reset: Come back to the factory value set.

Can do self-testing of each key and button. If the gaming
playing is abnormal at any time, please use this test tool.

Firmware Update
SHAKS keeps developing a new feature, please use this
feature to get your gamepad up-to-date. If there is a new
release, a pop-up guide appears.
💡
For safety updates and to protect the device, update
allow only in case of power plug-in by cable to an
external power source.
FAQ related Firmware (FW) update
1. is it possible to install again latest FW although already
it is installed?
Yes, possible. Press "FW update" longer, then you will
see the "Install again FW" popup.
2. Problem is occuring during FW update, how I can
solve?
After rebooting gamepad, it keep waiting for
connection.
It maybe in re-booting process. So, suggest wait 2-
3 min. if not solve, go to BT setting of gamepad,
connect it from there.
If you see"...connection was made but
communication is nor proper....” message
- please power off the gamepad and on again
(rebooting)
- click ‘try again’ button
- go to your phone BT setting and delete the
connected log and pair it again.
