GENERAL OVERVIEW

VOLUME AND ALARM CONTROLS
VOLUME - Adjust volume up and down.
ALARM ON/OFF - Toggles alarm on or off and resets alarm
when sounding.
SNOOZE/LIGHT - Press 1 to 3 times to delay alarm for
10 to 30 minutes. Also activates screen
backlight.

POWER REQUIREMENTS 2
The Travel Soother 20 can be powered by batteries or an
optional AC adapter: • FOUR AA ALKALINE BATTERIES
• 6V AC ADAPTER (MODEL SM917)
Using batteries:
• Makes traveling light.
• Automatically shuts the
LCD screen backlight
off after Þve seconds.
The battery compartment is
located at the back.
The AC adapter is available
from The Sharper Image.

Using an adapter:
• Saves on batteries.
• Allows the LCD screen
backlight to remain on
when LIGHT is pressed.
Plug the AC adapter into the
jack at the side of the unit.
Inside the battery compartment (hidden behind batteries)
is a switch for use in some countries outside the United
States. Switch from the 10K to the 9K position when using
AM radio in areas where tuning requires this setting.

DESCRIPTION OF FEATURES

The Travel Soother 20 has many useful features
and operational options:
•User selectable display for either:
12-hour (AM/PM) or 24-hour (Military) time.
•Ramp-up alarm with user selectable choices:
Buzzer, Church Bells, Radio or Sound Soother.
•Calendar Display
•Dual-time clock that can be set to independently
display the time for a different time-zone.
•User selectable temperature display in either:
Fahrenheit or Celsius (°F or °C).
•Backlit LCD display that can be set to remain on
when the unit is powered by optional AC adapter.
•Timer button that turns the radio/sound soother
power on for a user-programmed amount of time,
then automatically shuts the sound off.
•Display button that allows the user to select what
secondary information is displayed on the screen.
•Easy one-touch recall of up to six AM and six FM
user deÞned preset radio stations.

ADJUST SETTINGS
The same basic procedure is followed to set any of the
Travel Soother 20 features:
Press MODE repeatedly to
select the setting you want
to change.
• CLOCK • ALARM TIME • ALARM SOUND
• CALENDAR • DUAL TIME • °F / °C DISPLAY
The name of the selected
setting is displayed and the
actual setting ßashes.

to change and adjust the
selected setting.
NOTE: In clock setting mode press
DIS (display) to change
between 24 hour (military)
time and 12 hour (AM/PM)
time display.

ALARM OPERATION
The alarm is activated by pressing the ALM ON/OFF
button on the top of the Travel Soother 20. When the alarm
is on/activated the small ALARM icon will be visible under
the clock time. By default, the secondary display will show
the alarm time setting but can be changed by pressing the
DISPLAY button.
ALARM icon indicates alarm is
active and will sound at set time.
When the alarm is
activated, the display
changes to show the set
time for the alarm.
At the set time, the alarm sounds by ramping up in volume:
•Press ALM ON/OFF once to reset it for the next day.
•Press ALM ON/OFF twice to deactivate the alarm.
•Press SNOOZE one to three times to delay the alarm ten
to thirty minutes (each press equals a ten-minute delay).

OPERATION TIPS
The Travel Soother 20 advanced Aluminum Cone Driver
Technology produces rich crisp sound through a small but
powerful speaker system.
The quality of FM radio reception can be enhanced by
selectively tuning the retractable FM antenna, making it
shorter or longer and changing its direction.

FM ANTENNA
The quality of AM radio reception can be changed by
slightly turning the entire radio to tune the built-in AM
antenna. AM reception is not affected by the FM antenna.

Basic operation problems can often be Þxed by using an
unbent paper clip (or similar) to press RESET, located just
under the battery cover tab, inside the battery compartment.

What Is Not Covered
This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse or use other
than as intended and described in the product instruction manual.
What The Sharper Image Will Do
The Sharper Image will either repair any defects in materials or work-
manship, or exchange the defective unit with a reconditioned unit. In the
event repair or exchange is not possible, The Sharper Image will either
replace this product with one of similar features and price, or refund the
full purchase price of the product, whichever you prefer.
