GB051.Thiswayyou aregettinga high-classandtechnicallyhighlymodernproduct.
GSMRemoteSupervision GB 051 allowsfirst-class and highlyeffectiveprotection ofcars
or properties. Itprovidesprotection which cannotbeeasilydisabledby cutting the phone
line, protection which sends an ALARM messagewithin3seconds and which allowsalso
continuouscontrolofprotectedarea.Informationaboutdisturbanceissentinaformof
phonecall withwarning signalor inaformofSMSmessage toyour cell phoneor by fax,
even by e-mail if required.
GB 051 also allowsmonitoring ofprotectedareaand remotecontrolofhousehold
appliancesbycellphoneorbye-mail.
Cell phoneconnectedtoGB 051 can beusedsimultaneouslyfor outgoingand incoming
callswithoutrestriction of theunit’s security function.

1.1. Description ofFunction
GSMRemoteSupervisionGB 051 consistsof plasticbox, which isfirmlyjoinedto
thebattery ofcell phone. Communicationcablewithconnector getsout ofthisbox
intocell phone,which isusedby GB 051 for realization ofphoneconnection and
reception and sending ofSMSmessages.
Ontheuppersideoftheboxthereisacut-off terminalboard withterminalsfor
powersupply,forinterfacetoPC, controlinputsand 8 input/output cablestoalarm
switchboard,todetectorsor toswitchingelectronics.
Cablewithaconnectoron thelowersideofthebox isintendedfor connectinga
mobilephoneSiemens (oneof those:C35i,M35,S35).Thereisalso aconnector
fordatacableforconnectiontoaPC thatenablescomfortablesetup ofrequired
configuration data.Allconfiguration parameters canalsobesetusing SMS
messagessentfromamobilephoneorInternet.
Redlightemitting diode(LED)on theleft side signalizes basicoperationalstates,
e.g.: correctfunction,function frombackup power supply,GSM connection in
ready mode, action inprogress, etc.
It ispossibletoprepareseparatetextofSMSmessageand tospecifytwo
numbersofcell phones, towhichmessageshallbesentfor each ofthe 8 inputs.
PreparedtextofSMSmessageissenttospecifiednumbersby activation ofone
ofthe 8 inputsand phonecallwithwarning alarmsignaliscarriedout toa
predefined number.Incaseitisnotpossibleto send SMSmessage or call,the
attemptisrepeated10 times intheintervalsof5minutes.
Each inputcan beusedatthesametimeas outputand itispossibletosetup
requestedvalueof inputs using SMSmessagesentfromcell phoneorInternet.
It ispossibletorequestcallwithadditional sound monitoring oftheroomby
incomingSMSmessage.
It isstill possibletousecell phoneconnectedtoGB051 tocarry out outgoing and
incomingcalls.
GB051 isself-controlled – itsends information aboutfailureofpowersupply,
messagesaboutreset, initialization,aboutconfigurationchangebutalso
informationmessagesaboutoperationinsetintervals.

• GB051 is conformablewithtechnicalstandardsforoperationinour mains.
• Powersourcewithvoltage10–16 V DC must beusedforpowersupply.Dimension
forpeak current is 500mA.
• Whilecoverisremovedpartsundervoltagecan beexposed.Devicemustbe
disconnectedfromallpowersourcesincluding backupbatterybeforemaintenance
or exchangeofpartsor filledboards.
• Whilefitting togetherand assemblingtheequipment avoidcut-offofinterconnecting
cablesortheirdamagebyedges.
• Nofluidsmustenterthedevice.Dangeroffire,destructionofdeviceor injuryby
electriccurrentimpend.Incaseitoccurs pullpowersourceoutoftheplug
immediatelyandconsultspecialist.
• Avoidforcefulmechanicstress ofdevice.
• Donotplacedeviceintoroomswithhightemperatures,strong vibrationsorhigh
humidity.
• Incaseyou moveddevicefromcooltowarmroomdo notsetitintooperation
immediately.Watercondenseson deviceand operation underthesecircumstances
can causedamageofdevice. Letdevicewarmup totemperatureofroom.Wait
untilcondensedwaterevaporates.

TheGB051 unitmustbestockedalwayswiththemobilephoneconnector
disconnected – whendisconnectedfromexternalpowersupply,theGB 051 is
suppliedfromthemobile phonebattery and thebattery can be damagedby getting
completelyflat.
3. InstallationandSettingintoOperation
3.1. AssemblyofGSMRemoteSupervision
GSMRemoteSupervision byLEVEL isdesignedfor operation indry places.
Duringassemblyavoidhotplacesand placeswheredevicewouldbeexposedto
directsolarradiationorplacesclosetoheating elements.
DonotplaceGSMRemoteSupervisionoraerialmastclosetophoneexchange
or otherelectronicdevicesorlines.Duetohigh-frequency electromagneticfield
thesedevicescouldbeinterfered.
Duetointerferenceit isnotadvisabletooperatedeviceclosetootherpoweror
high-frequency devices.
Beforeassemblyproveby cell phoneif thereissufficientlevelofsignalrequired
by GSMnetwork inselectedplace.Pay attention todelay inindicating ofsignal
level.
When using forprotectionofproperty,arrangeprotectionof areaagainstbreak-in
by detector.

Professionalsolutionofswitchingelectricaldevicesonand offisprovidedby the
230 V/5 Adoublepowerswitch ED 050 300 thatcan bepurchasedasoptional
accessory.
For connection withaPCusealways theED 051 011 converterwithcablethat
connectsintotheconnectoratthebottomsideoftheunit and intotheRS232
interfaceinyour PC. IfyouneedtoconnectthePCusing theolder ED 050 001
converter, usethenewoptionalaccessory ED 051 050 (cablewithreduction,
ControlPanel softwareincluded).
The GB 051 deviceisabletowork fullywithoutexternalpowersupplyfor
approximately12hoursbeingsuppliedfromthemobilephone battery.
3.3. Inserting the SIMCardandConnecting to the Cell Phone
GSMRemoteSupervision canbeusedonlywithcellphones Siemens C35,M35
and S35.Donotattempttoconnectotherphones, itmaycause device or phone
damage.
AlwaysuseonlyNiMH battery withtheGB051.Using aLi-Ionbattery mightresult
inunstablefunction oftheGSMRemote Supervision; thistypeofbattery can
causethemobilephonetoturn off withoutthepossibilityofstarting up
automatically
RESET
By connectionclips no. 2and 3(ground and reset) theunit reset will
berun, whileall theset configurationvaluewillremaininplace.
Thevalueof daysinservicewillbeset to0.
INIT Detaileddescription ofhowtocarry on theinitialization can befound
inChapter 4.1. The GSM RemoteControldevicewillbesetinto
default manufacturer’s settingsby theinitialization.

Cell phonemustbeinbasicconfiguration,onlyparametersspecifiedfurthercan
bechanged.
ASIMcardinsertedintheGB051 devicemustbeconfiguredinoneofthetwo
ways describedbelow:
a) If SIMisnot blockedby PINcode, thenthePINvalueinGB 051 isirrelevant –
inthiscaseyoucanskipthis instruction and continue to
assemblytheGB051andthecellphone.
b) If SIMisblockedby PIN, and thenthePINinGB 051 mustbethesamewith
thePINattheSIMinmobilephone.ThedefaultPINcodeintheGB051unit
issetfromproductionas “0000” (Thiswillalso bethePINvalueafterunit’s
initialization).
HowtochangePINcodeintheSiemens mobilephones:
Inmenu selectSetup – Security – Codes – ChangePINand thephonewillask
you toenterfirst thecurrentPINandthentoenterand verifythenewPINcode –
enterPIN “0000”.
Descriptionoffirstassembly:
1. InserttheSIMcardandbatteryintothecellphone,put onthebackcover.
2. SticktheGB 051 unittogetherwiththeback coverofthemobilephone,
connectorsmustbefaceddown.
3. InterconnecttheGB051withconnector inthecell phone.
4. Connectthe12 Vexternal powersupplyconnector.
5. Afterthepowersupplyisconnected,theGB051willautomaticallyturn on
thephoneand if thePINcode isrequestedby thephone,theunit will
automaticallyenterthePIN predefinedinconfiguration.
6. Waittosee thecell phonetoconnecttotheGSMnetwork,theLEDshould
start blinkingslowly.
7. Followingthisitisrecommendedtosend acommand SMSas described
belowtoset anewPIN(otherthan 0000) inthe GB051 and theSIMcard for
securityreasons.Thiswillalso verifythecorrectfunctionalityoftheGB051
device – by confirming itcan receivethecommand SMSand setreply
messageback.
After theinquiry on the phonedisplayenterPINwithphone keyboard and wait
until phonelogs in. FromthismomentGSMRemoteSupervision isabletoaccept
controlSMSmessages.

If thePINcodeon theSIMcardisthesameasthePINinGB051 andSIMis
blockedby PIN,thenaftersetting newPINtotheGB051unit thePINwill be
changedinboth – theSIMandGB051 unit.
GB051 repliestothisSMSmessageand drawssender’sattention tonecessityof
unification of PIN inRemoteSupervision and phoneand tonecessityof switch-off
ofcellphone.
Afterreception ofthisSMSmessage verify correct PIN codechange by switching
thephone off with theredphonebutton. If PINisset correctlyand external power
supplyisconnectedGB051 automaticallyswitcheson thephone,setsPINand
LED startstoflash inslowrhythm.It signalizes readiness ofRemoteSupervision
forreceptionand sending messages.AtthesametimenewPINisenteredinto
memoryofGB051.
It ispossibletosetup volumeofcell phoneringing according toyour needin
mainmenu.Ringing ofthephonecan beeventuallyswitchedoff completely.Itis
possibletochangeor switch off thesound indicating reception ofSMSmessage
either.Furthermore,volumeofconversation can bechanged (onlythevolumeof
speakerisconcerned).
If SMScentreisnotcorrectlyseton SIMcarditisnecessary tosetitup incell
phonemenu.

4. ProgrammingbySMSMessages
Numberoffunctions and parameters,whichallowadjustmentofGSMRemote
Supervision toenvironmentand user’srequirementscan beconfiguredby
programming. Atthesametimeprogramming allowscontroloffunctionsbyuser.
Programming can becarriedouteitherremoteby SMSmessagefromcellphoneor
Internet if available - orcomfortably using theControlPanelsoftwareand theED
051 011communication converterwithcableconnectedtothe serialportofyourPC.

4.1. PIN inGSMRemoteSupervision
So as GSMRemoteSupervisionworkscorrectlyitisnecessary thatPINon SIM
card corresponds withPINofGSMgateand isdifferent from0000.Inphonemenu
SIMcardmustbeblocked,tm.control ofPINafterswitch-on must beactivated.
If theSIMcard isblockedby aPINcode, connect theGB051tothemobilephone
only afterthePINinGB051 wassettothesamevalue – otherwisethereisa
greatrisk oftheSIMcardgettingblocked.

IncasethePINcodeisthesameon theSIMcardand intheGB051 unit and the
SIMisblockedby PIN,then afterentering anewPINintoGB051 thePINcode
on theSIM cardwillbechangedaswell.

ValueofPINof GSMgatesetfromproduction andafter initialization is0000.PIN
0000 shallnotbesetintocellphonefromgateso thatblockageofphoneisnot
causedduringfirst contactswithgate.
Example:
OriginalPIN ofGSMgateis0000.SIM card,which you use incellphone inGSM
gatehasPIN 1234 andisblocked byPIN.
InserttheSIM cardintothe mobilephone,butdonotconnectthe GB051
connector yet.Inserttherequired PIN inthe mobilephone (e.g. 1234).Gointothe
mobilephone menu and selectSettings – Security – Codes – Change PIN then
insert the oldPIN and the new PIN according tothemobilephone instructions.
Send acommand SMS messagewithtextXX0000PINV1234fromcellphone or
Interneton cellphone numberin the unit.
As soon as aconfirmation SMS message comes back tosender’scellphone the
newPIN is set tovalue “1234”
User canverifythePIN changebyswitching the phoneoff.
Initialization:
Incaseyou forgetcurrentPINofGSMRemoteSupervisionyou haveno choice
than tocarryout initialization ofparameters tooriginalset-upfromproduction.It
shallbecarriedoutinfollowingsteps:
1. Disconnect external powersupply.(throwuppoweradapter)
2. Disconnect themobilephoneconnector.
3. InterconnectinputsGROUND and INIT(terminalsNo. 1 and 2, see Chapter
3.2.)on terminalboard
4. Connect external powersupply.(throwinpoweradapter)
5. RemoveconnectionGROUND – INIT
6. Disconnect external power supply.(throwuppoweradapter)
7. ConnectthemobilephonetotheGB051unit – thePINmustbepresetto
value“0000”.
8. Connect external powersupply.
9. PINandotherrequiredparameters havetobeset-upagain
4.2. RESET of GSMRemoteSupervision
Ifyou want tocarryout remoteresetofcounters of daysandmonthsinoperation
thensend SMSmessagewith Command RESET. Command isrejectedifGB051
runsfrombackupbattery.

4.5. MCALL – MonthlyCalling
SomeGSMoperatorsrequire requirestocarryoutatleastonepaidphone
connectionin3months fromthiscard inordertokeeptheSIMcard working –
otherwisetheprepaidcreditmightexpire. Inordertopreventthisfromhappening
it ispossibletoenteranumberintoGB051,which theunit willautomaticallycall
every monthofoperation,thephonecall willbe hungup10 seconds after pickup.

report alarmon fixedphonelineswhereSMS messagescannot bereceived. After

Intervalfor sending regular SMSmessagestoINFOSMSnumber,whichinclude

configuration programand serial cablewithconvertercan beused. Programand cable
can beboughtadditionallyassetforconfigurationfromPC – supplyNo. ED051 011.
Programshallbeinstalledunder MS WINDOWS bycommand A:\setup.Connect
GB 051 through interconnecting cablewithconverterED051 011.Programallows
reading ofactualconfiguration fromGB 051,changingofconfigurationand exporting of
newconfigurationintoGB 051.Configuration canalso besavedand read fromfiles.
6. Operationduring FailureofExternalPowerSupply
DuringfailureofexternalpowersupplyGB 051 operates,withunchangedoutput, for
approx.12 hoursfrombattery.However,itisnotabletoswitch on thecell phone
withoutexternal powersupplyandtherefore command RESETisignored.
Configuration,which you enterinGB 051,willbesavedinmemory – typeEEPROM –
forarbitrarilylongtimeevenduring disconnectionortotaldischargeofbackupbattery.
