Description of appliance Before using for the first time
Operating modes
Exhaust-air mode:
❑The extractor-hood fan extracts the kit-
chen vapours and conveys them through
the grease filter into the atmosphere.
❑The grease filter absorbs the solid
particles in the kitchen vapours.
❑The kitchen is kept almost free of grease
and odours.
Before reading these instructions, please fold out the illustrated back pages
Note: When assessing the air pressure, the
entire ventilation system in the house/apart-
ment must be taken into account. If using
cooking appliances, e.g. hob and/or gas
cooker, this rule does not apply.
Government regulations must be observed
for the conveyance of exhaust air.
If the extractor hood is used in circulating-air
mode – with activated carbon filter –, there
are no operating restrictions.
Circulating-air mode:
❑An activated carbon filter must be fitted
for this operating mode (see Filters and
maintenance). The activated carbon filter
can be purchased as an optional
accessory FROM YOUR DEALER.
❑The extractor-hood fan extracts the
kitchen vapours which are purified in the
grease filter and activated carbon filter
and then conveyed back into the
kitchen.
❑The grease filter absorbs the grease
particles in the kitchen vapours.
❑The activated carbon filter binds the
odorous substances.
If the extractor hood is switched from
exhaust-air mode to circulating-air mode,
the exhaust-air opening must be sealed to
prevent a hazardous situation (see optional
accessories in the Instructions for use).
Important information:
This extractor hood complies with the
relevant safety regulations.
Repairs may be carried out only by
qualified technicians.
To prevent a hazardous situation, a
damaged connection cable must be
replaced by the manufacturer or his
customer service or a similarly qualified per-
son.
Improper repairs may put the user at
considerable risk.
DIf the extractor hood is in exhaust-air
mode and a flue-type heater is running
at the same time (e.g. gas, oil or solid-fuel
heaters, continuous-flow heaters, water
heaters), ensure that the fireplace has an
adequate air supply for combustion.
Safe operation requires that the low air
pressure in the room in which the fireplace
is located does not exceed 4 Pa (0.04
mbar).
This low air pressure can be obtained,
provided combustion air can escape
through non-lockable openings, e.g. in
doors,
windows, air-intake/exhaust-air wall boxes
or by other technical procedures, such as
reciprocal interlocking, etc.

The appliance is not intended for use
by young children or infirmed persons
without supervision.
Young children should be supervised to
ensure they do not play with the appliance.
The appliance may only be connected
and operated by a qualified technician.
Dispose of packaging materials in an
environmentally friendly manner.
Operate the extractor hood only with
screwed on lamps.
Never operate the extractor hood
without a grease filter.
Overheated fat or oil can easily ignite.
Food which is being prepared in fat or oil,
e.g. chips, must never be left unattended.
Do not flambé under the extractor
hood.
Risk of grease filter catching fire
!catching fire from rising flames.
Certain restrictions apply if the extrac-
tor hood is to be installed over a fireplace
which burns solid fuel (coal, wood, etc.)
(see Installation instructions).
Always use gas hotplates correctly.
Important:
The flames of the gas hotplates must
always be covered with a cooking utensil.
The intensive heat development of the
naked gas flames could damage the
!extractor hood.
The kitchen vapours are best elimina-
ted by:
❑Switching on the extractor hood
at the start of cooking.
❑Switching off the extractor hood
several minutes after cooking has
ended.

Different grease filters can be used to
absorb the grease particles in the
kitchen vapours.
Fleece grease filter:
The filter mat consists of highly flammable
material.
Warning:
A build up of greasy residue increases
flammability, and the function of the
extractor hood may be impaired.
Important:
Replace the fleece grease filter in good time,
otherwise there is a risk of fire from the heat
which accumulates during deep-fat frying or
roasting.
Replacing the fleece grease filter:
❑During normal operation (daily 1 to 2
hours) the fleece grease filter must be
replaced every 8 to 10 weeks.
Replace printed fleece grease filters at
the latest when the coloured print
dissolves.
❑Use only original filters.
These comply with the safety regulations
and ensure optimum function.
Disposal of the old fleece grease filter:
❑Fleece grease filters do not contain any
harmful substances. They can be
disposed of as bio-degradable waste.
Removing and installing the fleece
grease filter:
1. Press in the interlocks on the left and
right sides of the filter grille. Fig. 1/1.
2. Remove the filter grille. Fig. 1/2.
3. Remove the wire grille and the saturated
filter mat. Fig. 2.
4. Clean the filter grille and insert a new
filter mat Fig. 2.
5. Clamp the filter mat with the wire grille.

6. Re-insert the filter grille. Fig. 1/2.
The interlocks must lock into position
on the left and right sides. Fig. 1/1.
Metal grease filter:
The filter mats consist of non-flammable
material.
Warning:
A build up of greasy residue increases
flammability, and the function of the
extractor hood may be impaired.
Important:
Replace the metal grease filter in good time,
otherwise there is a risk of fire from the heat
which accumulates during deep-fat frying or
roasting.
Cleaning the metal grease filter:
❑During normal operation (daily 1 to 2
hours) the metal grease filter must be
replaced every 8 to 10 weeks.
❑The metal grease filter can be cleaned in
the dishwasher.
Slight discoloration may occur.
Important:
Do not clean heavily saturated metal
grease filters with other dishes.
❑If cleaning by hand, soak the grease
filters in a hot soapy solution.
Then brush off any residual grease, rinse
thoroughly and leave to dry.
❑Use only original filters.
These ensure optimum function.

Removing and installing the metal filter:
1. Press in the interlocks on the left and
right sides of the filter grille. Fig. 1/1.
2. Remove the filter grille. Fig. 1/2.
3. Remove the wire grille and the saturated
metal filter. Fig. 2.
4. Clean the filter grille and the metal filter.
5. Re-insert the cleaned metal filter and
clamp them with the wire grille. Fig. 2.
6. Re-insert the filter grille. Fig. 1/2.
The interlocks must lock into position
on the left and right sides. Fig. 2/1.
Activated carbon filter:
For binding the odorous substances in
circulating-air mode.
Installing:
1. Press in the interlocks on the left and
right sides of the filter grille. Fig. 1/1.
2. Remove the filter grille. Fig. 1/2.
3. Insert the activated carbon filter from
below into the extractor-hood housing
and lock into position and turned clockwi-
se.(fig.3)
4. Re-insert the filter grille. Fig. 1/2.
The interlocks must lock into position
on the left and right sides. Fig. 1/1.
Removing:
The activated carbon filter is removed in
reverse sequence.
Replacing the activated carbon filter:
❑During normal operation (daily 1 to 2
hours) the activated carbon filter must be
replaced approximately 1 x year.
❑The activated carbon filter can be
purchased FROM YOUR DEALER.
❑Use only original filters.
These ensure optimum function.
Disposal of the old activated carbon
filter:
❑Activated carbon filters do not contain
any harmful substances. They can be
disposed of as residual waste.

Cleaning and care
Isolate the extractor hood by pulling out
the mains plug or switching off the fuse.
❑When cleaning the grease filters, remove
grease deposits from the accessible side
of the housing.
This will prevent a fire hazard and will
ensure optimum function.
❑Clean the extractor hood with a hot
soapy solution or with a mild window
cleaning agent.
❑Do not scratch off dried-on dirt, but wipe
off with a moist cloth.
❑Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents
or scouring sponges.
❑Note: Do not apply alcohol (spirit) to pla-
stic surfaces, as they may tarnish.
Caution! Provide adequate ventilation in
the kitchen. No naked flames.
Clean the switch only with a soft, moist
cloth (mild soapy solution).
Do not clean the switch with a stainless-
steel cleaning agent.
Stainless-steel surfaces:
❑Use a mild, non-abrasive stainless-steel
cleaning agent.
❑Clean only in the direction of the ground
surface.
Do not clean stainless-steel surfaces
with scouring sponges or with cleaning
agents containing sand, soda, acid or
chlorides!
Replacing the lamps
1. Switch off the extractor hood and isolate
the extractor hood by pulling out the
mains plug or switching off the fuse.
2. Remove the grease filter
(see Filters and maintenance).
3. Replace the lamp (commercially
available candle lamps, max. 40 watts,
E14 lampholder). Fig. 4.
4. Reconnect the power by inserting the
mains plug or by switching on the fuse.

Before installation
❑Gas hobs
Load of one hotplate max. 03.9 kW
Load of all hotplates max. 11.3 kW
❑Gas ceramic hob
The specifications for nominal heat load
do not apply to closed gas ceramic
hobs.
Always comply with the specifications of
the hotplate manufacturer.
The smaller the distance between the
extractor hood and hotplates, the greater
the likelihood that rising water vapour will
condense under the extractor hood.
The extractor hood may only be
installed over a fireplace which burns solid
fuel (fire hazard due to flying sparks) if the
fireplace has a closed, non-detachable
cover and national regulations have been
observed. This restriction does not apply
to gas cookers and gas hobs.
Exhaust-air mode. Fig. 6
The exhaust air is conducted upwards via a
ventilation shaft or directly through the
outside wall into the atmosphere.
DThe exhaust air must not be conveyed
into a functioning smoke flue or exhaust-
gas flue or into a shaft which vents a room
with a fireplace.
Conveyance of exhaust air in a non-func-
tioning smoke flue or exhaust-gas flue
requires the prior consent of an appropriate
heating engineer.
DIf the extractor hood is in exhaust-air
mode and a flue-type heater is running
at the same time (e.g. gas, oil or solid-fuel
heaters, continuous-flow heaters, water
heaters), ensure that the fireplace has an
adequate air supply for combustion.

Important information:
Old appliances are not worthless
rubbish. Valuable raw materials can be
reclaimed by recycling old appliances.
Before disposing of your old appliance,
render it unusable.
You received your new appliance in a
protective shipping carton. All packaging
materials are environmentally friendly and
recyclable. Please contribute to a better
environment by disposing of packaging
materials in an environmentally-friendly
manner.
Please ask your dealer or inquire at your
local authority about current means of
disposal.
The extractor hood can be used in
exhaust-air or circulating-air mode.
Always attach the extractor hood
centred above the hotplates.
Minimum distance between hotplates
and lower edge of the extractor
hood: 650 mm.
Additional information for gas
cooking appliances:
Comply with the currently valid
installation regulations and the installation
instructions supplied by the gas appliance
manufacturers.
The extractor hood may be installed
with only one side next to a high-sided unit
or a high wall. Min. gap 50 mm.
The extractor hood must be installed at
a minimum distance of 650 mm above
gas hotplates – Fig. 5 – provided the fol-
lowing nominal heat loads (Hs) are not
exceeded:
❑Gas cookers
Load of one hotplate max. 03.0 kW
Load of all hotplates max. 08.3 kW
Load of oven max. 03.9 kW

Before installation
Safe operation requires that the low air
pressure in the room in which the fireplace
is located does not exceed 4 Pa (0.04
mbar).
This low air pressure can be obtained,
provided combustion air can escape

the exterior wall, a telescopic wall box
should be used. Fig. 7.
Connection options between the
extractor hood and telescopic wall box:
❑Exhaust-air hose or exhaust-air pipe.
❑Direct connection.
Optimum performance of the extractor
hood:
❑Short, smooth exhaust-air pipe.
❑Minimum number of pipe bends.
❑Largest possible pipe diameter
(100 mm dia. recommended) and large
pipe bends.
❑Round pipes:
Short discharge pipe:
Inner diameter at least 100 mm,
❑Flat ducts must have an inner cross-
section equivalent to round pipes with
an inner diameter of 100 mm.
100 m dia approx. 178 cm2
❑If pipe diameters differ:
Insert sealing strip.
❑Ensure an adequate air supply for
exhaust-air mode.
Exhaust air upwards:
Pipe diameter: 100 mm
❑Take care that the air-deflector is fitted
(Fig.8/1).
❑Insert the exhaust-air connection
(Fig.8/2)

❑The air purified by an additional
activated carbon filter is conveyed back
into the room.
❑For insertion of the activated carbon
filter see Instructions for use.
❑If the extractor hood is switched from
exhaust-air mode to circulating-air
mode, the exhaust-air opening must be
sealed to prevent a hazardous situation.
Electrical specifications:
Electrical specifications can be found on
the rating plate – remove the filter frame
inside the appliance to reveal the rating
plate.
Before carrying out any repairs,
isolate the extractor hood.
Length of connection cable: 1,50 m.
To prevent a hazardous situation, a
damaged connection cable must be
replaced by the manufacturer or his
customer service or a similarly qualified
person.
If a permanent connection is required:
The extractor hood may be connected only
by an electrical engineer who is registered
at the relevant electricity supply company.
A disconnecting device must be fitted on
the installation side. Switches with a
contact gap of more than 3 mm and
all-pole disconnection are regarded as a
disconnecting device. This includes LS
switches and contactors.
This extractor hood complies with the EC
radio interference suppression regulations.
Electrical connection
THIS APPLIANCE IS EARTH INSULATED,
DO CONNECTED TO EARTH.
-If the supply cord of this appliance is
damaged, it must be replaced. Take
care to shock azard. Do never change
the fuse without rettifing the cover; if you
have lost the cover, do not use the plug
until the cover is replaced, call your dea-
ler for spare parts.
- If the appliance is supplied with UK plug
(BS 1363) than it's protected by a 3A
fuse or if any other type of plug is used,
by a 5A fuse either in the plug or
adaptor or at the distribution board.

Fitting the extractor hood
To the wall
60 cm wide extractor hood:
With 4 screws. Fig. 10.
90 cm wide extractor hood:

1. Mark mounting boreholes.
Dimensions can be found in Fig. 10
or use template.
2. Drill 6 mm dia. holes and insert wall
plugs flush with the wall.
3. Screw in the upper screws (on left and
right) until there is a gap of approx. 7
mm between the screw head and the
wall.
4. Remove the filter grille
(see Instructions for use)
5. Attach the extractor hood.
6. If the cooker hood is not in perfect hori-
zontal level (fig. 11/1), adjust it by using
the adjusting screws (fig. 11/2).
7. Tighten the lower screw (with washer)
inside the extractor hood. Fig. 12.
To a wall-hanging cupboard
60 cm wide extractor hood:
With 4 screws. Fig. 13.
90 cm wide extractor hood:
With 4 screws. Fig. 13.
1. Dimensions for the mounting boreholes
can be found in Fig. 13, or place a tem-
plate on the base of the wall-
hanging cupboard.
2. Mark the mounting holes and make pilot
holes with a bradawl. Fig. 13.
In exhaust-air mode (upwards) mark the
exhaust-air opening and saw out.

3. Remove the filter grille
(see Instructions for use).
4. Screw the extractor hood to the base of
the cupboard. Fig. 14.
