Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your MicroSound device. This unit is widely used for applications
requiring playback of voice-recorded audio upon detecting motion. It has a built-in PIR (Passive Infrared)
wide-angle sensor that detects motion from up to 13 feet (4 meters) and works day or night, as it does
not rely on light. The unit requires 3x AAA 1.5V battery for power. To get the most out of your device,
please read through this manual. Please note that we test all units after manufacturing by pre-recording
a human voice, this is normal and does not indicate unit is used

Buttons & Description
Name Function
Indicator Light Recording and Playback Indictor:
1. When motion is detected, light turns on and stays on for duration of playback
2. Light will also turn on when recording audio
Button A To Start recording:
Press and hold for 3 seconds until you hear a beep, then start recording while
keeping the button pressed. Release button to stop recording.
Once time is up, you will hear another beep
Button B Playback Button:
Press once to start playback, press again to stop playback
Power/Volume
Switch
Has 3 settings:
High Volume: Set switch to top position
Low Volume: Set switch to middle position
Power off: Set switch to lowest position

At the top right corner of the device, there are openings that resemble a microUSB port and a
microSD card slot. Those openings are for different variations of this product and have no
function or use on this unit.
Installation Instructions
This unit is designed for indoor use only. External use will result in moisture damaging internals
of the device and void the warranty. For best performance and to avoid false triggers, do not
install in areas that have direct sunlight, areas with large temperature variation, or near air
conditioners and heaters. The induction window (area where motion can be detected) is as
illustrated below:
STEP 1: Attach to Wall
There are two methods to attach the unit to the wall, directly or through included ball mount.
Using the ball mount method allows you to adjust the detection area while the unit is in place.
The back of the unit has 3 screw holes; regardless of installation method chosen, only the
bottom 2 holes are used, the upper one is left unused
Directly to wall:
 Screw 2 screws provided into wall and attach unit by the bottom 2 screw holes
OR
Using ball mount:
 Insert part #3A into bottom 2 screw holes at back of unit
o Pongs should be pointing up when inserted and pushed up firmly into place
 Screw part #3B into wall using 2 screws provided
 Firmly push unit into part #3B attached to wall until the ball snaps into socket
 To detach from wall, pull unit firmly to detach part #3B from part #3A
STEP 1: Adjust Sensor Angle (Optional)
This step is optional and only applicable to “ball mount” installation method described above.
 Swivel/rotate unit to adjust area targeted for detection

Recording Audio
1. Turn device on by sliding power/volume switch to middle setting (low volume) or highest
setting (high volume)
2. Press the “A” button and hold for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. Start recording after the
beep. Keep button pressed to record and release once done recording. If you hear another
beep while recording, it means time is up.
3. To hear back recorded audio, press the B button. To stop playback, press B button again
TIP:
Once motion is detected and audio is being played, the unit will not interrupt audio playback. It
will keep playing recording until completion, after which it will wait approximately 3 seconds
and start detecting new motion again
Powering the Unit
The unit can only be powered by batteries (3xAAA). When the unit is turned on, it goes through
an initialization process where it may take 5-10 seconds after power up for it to start detecting
motion. If you notice the performance of the unit degrading, such as lower sound volume or it
is not detecting motion, this indicates the battery is low and needs replacing. The factors
dictating how long the unit lasts on a single charge are:
o Activity in the room (how often unit triggers)
o Duration of recordings
o Volume setting selected

o “Check that you have your keys, wallet, and cell phone before leaving”
o “Turn off oven before leaving”
 Door Greeter/Notifier for entrances and storefronts
o Senses people coming in and plays greeting, uses at shops, events, parties
 Point of Sale Advertising:
o Place on a shelf, automatically plays advertising material when customers pass
by
 Safety Reminder
o Plays a reminder as soon as personnel enter a restricted area
o Use to instruct pets to avoid certain areas when you are away
 Exhibits /Trade Shows
o Pre-record material and have it played automatically to visitors at your booth

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I increase playback time?
Playback time is fixed. If you need longer recording time, check out our “SmartSound” device,
details are on our website at www.sierrateck.com
Q: During use, playback gets interrupted then continues to play and this repeats
This is caused by an unstable voltage and indicates that the battery is low. Replace the battery
Q: After the unit is powered on, there is a period of time where there is no response or
delayed response.
After power on, there will be 5-10 seconds of power initialization time. During this period, it is
normal to have no or slow response. After this time, the unit will work normally
Q: How do I delete what I recorded?
Every time you do a new recording, it automatically overwrites your old recording.
Q: Can I record multiple recordings instead of 1 long recording?
No, only 1 recording is supported. This feature is available in our “SmartSound” device, details
are available on our website at www.sierrateck.com
