1 Safety Instructions
The Charger SICO 5006 is to be used exclusively according to the description in this manual.
! Warning !
Never try to charge p r i m a r y c e l l s (batteries)!
There is risk of explosion!
The charger needs not to be opened; there are no serviceable parts inside! If you open
it anyway, pull the main plug before opening the charger!
When the device is opened by the customer, the warranty given by the manufacturer
expires.

2 Working Principle
The Charger SICO 5006 is a microcontroller-based charger intended for quick-charging
C-size (baby) NiCd and NiMH rechargeable batteries with a 1.2V rated voltage. Batteries of
any capacity may be charged.
A Power cord
B and C Charging terminals for 2 batteries
D Charging condition indicator
2.1 Power Supply
The device can be operated on power supply units with the nominal voltage of 230V ±10% /
50 to 60Hz.
Note: If the charger is not intended to be used for a longer period, pull the mains plug to
save energy!
Also remove the batteries from the charging terminals to keep their charging.

3 Start-Up
With the mains plug connected, insert the batteries into the terminals B and C. The charging
of each battery is monitored separately. One battery instead of two at a time can be charged,
and also two batteries of different rated capacities or charge conditions can be inserted.
Insert the batteries correctly according to the polarity markings. The positive pole of the bat-
tery should point to the lamps. Batteries which have been inserted inversely will not be
charged.
You can also insert the batteries first and connect the charger to the mains supply then.
The red LED flashes:
The flashing of the red LED indicates the preparation of the charging. To make full use of the
battery capacity, the inserted batteries are discharged before the charging begins. First, a low
pre-charging current is applied to partly discharged or pole-reversed batteries.
The red LED lights permanently:
The main charge of the cell takes place.
The green LED lights permanently:
The charge is complete.
In this case, the unit has either identified that the batteries have full charge (-∆V method) or
the maximum charge time of app. six hours is over.
The exact charging time can not be given due to its dependence on the battery capacity.
A low pulsed current is now applied to the charged battery for trickle charge until the battery
is removed from the charger.
The green LED flashes shortly after inserting the accumulators:
A battery fault was detected. Please check if the battery has been inserted inversely. Make
sure that the plus pole points to the lamps. There will be no battery damage with reverse
poles.
If the green lamp flashes and the battery poles are not reversed, this indicates a defect. In
this case, take the battery out and dispose of it.
A preventive maintenance of the device is not needed. Just take care of the undamaged con-
dition of the power cord and housing.
