Introducing the USB 2.0 2.5" Enclosure
The 2.5" USB 2.0/eSATA to SATA Enclosure is
designed to support USB or eSATA equipped
computers. Thisenclosureprovideslargecapacity
mobile storage using 2.5" SATA hard disk drives
through hot-swapping USB 2.0 or eSATA
interface.

Hardware Installation
The following section guides you through the
installation of your drive kit.
Installing a 2.5" Hard Drive
1. Remove the 2 screws in each side, see Figure
3. Slide the top cover out of the case, then
slide the lower cover out of the case, see
Figure 4.

2. Take off the PCB and connect it to the hard
disk drive, see Figure 5 and Figure 6.

3. Put the installed PCB with hard disk drive
into the hard disk drive tray, see Figure 7.

4. Hold onto the hard disk drive and turn the
hard disk drive tray over. Secure the hard
disk drive with four mounting screws, see
Figure 8.

5. Slide the lower cover back into the case and
secure it with the two mounting screws,
then slide the upper cover back into the case
and secure it with the two mounting screws.
6. Connect the enclosure to the computer via
USB or eSATA.
USB cable: Use the included USB 2.0 data
cable to plug the 2.5" USB 2.0/eSATA to
SATA Enclosure into the computer. Plug the
optional USB power cable into a reliable
USB port.
Note: The optional USB power cable is
only needed when the USB data connector
doesn't provide enough power to power
up the enclosure.
eSATA cable: Use the included eSATA data
cable to plug the 2.5" USB 2.0/eSATA to
SATA Enclosure into the computer. Plug the
optional USB power cable into a reliable
USB port at all times.
7. The 2.5" USB 2.0/eSATA to SATA Enclosure
will turn on automatically. Make sure that
the LED is lit.

Go to Driver Installation to complete the
installation in the next page.
Driver Installation
Windows will automatically detect and install
drivers for the 2.5" USB 2.0/eSATA to SATA
Enclosure. No additional driver installation is
needed.
Using the 2.5" USB 2.0/eSATA to SATA
Enclosure
An additional drive icon will appear in My
Computer or Computer when the enclosure is
plugged into a USB or eSATA port. The drive
acts just like a conventional hard drive in your
system.
eSATA hot-plugging: If your eSATA controller
does not support hot-plug, the enclosure will not
getrecognized.Followtheinstructionbelowwhen
you hot-plug the enclosure.

1. For Windows 7: Right click Computer, click
Manage, click Device Manager.
For Windows Vista: Right click Computer,
click Manage, click Continue, click Device
Manager.
For Windows 2000 / XP / Server 2003: Right
click My Computer, click Manage, click
Device Manager.
For Windows Server 2008: Right click
Computer, click Manage, double click
Diagnostics, click Device Manager.
2. Right click Disk drives, then click Scan for
hardware changes.
3. Your HDD should now appear.
Disconnecting From The Computer
Before unplugging the 2.5" USB 2.0/eSATA to
SATA Enclosure from the computer, follow the
steps below for your version of Windows. The
same rule applies when turning off the Enclosure.
Not following the instructions may result in data
corruption or damage to the hard drive.

USB Connection
Windows 7
1. Verify that the LED is not flashing before
proceeding.
2. Click Show hidden icons, click the Safely
Remove Hardware and Eject Media icon
located in the system tray by the system
clock.
3. Click Eject USB to Serial-ATA bridge.
4. You can now unplug or turn off the 2.5"
USB 2.0/eSATA to SATA Enclosure.
Windows Vista / Server 2008
1. Verify that the LED is not flashing before
proceeding.
2. Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon
located in the system tray by the system
clock.
3. Click Safely remove USB Mass Strorage
Device,then click OK.
4. You can now unplug or turn off the 2.5"
USB 2.0/eSATA to SATA Enclosure.

Windows XP / Server 2003
1. Verify that the LED is not flashing before
proceeding.
2. Double click the Safely Remove Hardware
icon located in the system tray by the system
clock.
3. Highlight Mass Storage Device, click Stop,
OK, OK then Close.
4. You can now unplug or turn off the 2.5"
USB 2.0/eSATA to SATA Enclosure.
Windows 2000 SP4
1. Verify that the HDD LED is ON or not
blinking.
2. Double click the Unplug or Eject Hardware
icon located in the system tray by the system
clock.
3. Highlight USB Mass Storage Device, click
Stop, OK, OK, then click Close.
4. You can now unplug or turn off the 2.5"
USB 2.0/eSATA to SATA Enclosure.

eSATA Connection

is determined to be defective, an RMA number will be issued.
Step 2: After obtaining an RMA number, ship the product.
• Properly pack the product for shipping. All accessories that came with the
original package must be included.
• Clearly write your RMA number on the top of the returned package. SIIG will
refuse to accept any shipping package, and will not be responsible for a product
returned without an RMA number posted on the outside of the shipping
carton.
• You are responsible for the cost of shipping to SIIG. Ship the product to the
