Congratulations on choosing the Silent Night ZEPA-500 and its patented electrodynamic
air purification technology.
The technologies have been validated by leading university scientists, and reported in
respected scientific journals.
The Silent Night ZEPA-500 air purifier is unmatched for effectiveness , operating cost
and noise level. In fact, Silent Night’s virtually silent technology will prove time and time
again to outperform most HEPA products, effectively capturing most particle sizes
including EPA required PM 2.5 reduction and with minimal energy usage.
Measurement with an accurate laser particle counter indicates that across the particle range of (0.1
to 20 microns) that contaminant-free air is exiting from the Silent Night ZEPA-500 Air Purifier. The
smallest viruses and the hard-to-capture particulate components of cigarette smoke are at the
bottom end of this range. At the upper end, in the 1.0 to 20 micron range, we find are pollen, mold
IBR Labs who tests air cleaners for AHAM (American Household Appliance
Manufacturers) has tested SILENT NIGHT at 6 air exchanges per hour for an average 12
x 12 American bedroom (240 square feet) and 3 air exchanges per hour for an average
16 x 16 American master bedroom (256 square feet). This means now you can Breathe
with Confidence® knowing that you can count on Silent Night® to bring you and your
family virtually ultra-pure air 24/7….. And, do it SILENTLY!
Silent Night® is scientifically proven to capture billions of airborne viruses, bacteria,
mold spores, dust, skin flakes, dust mites, pet dander, smoke, allergenic particles,
bacteria, germs, fumes, toxins –all occurring SILENTLY on a single pass as practically
zero particles exit the front grill. No other air purifier including the best HEPA systems
with huge noisy fan motors and wind-speeds can make this claim.
The ZEPA-500 has been tested by Electrical Testing Labs (ETL) at Intertek Laboratories.
Ozone results per UL-867 were virtually zero.

Words from the Inventor about Silent Night’s Capabilities
Did you hear a rattle in your shipping box? No problem. Anytime the unit is inverted,
you will hear Silent Night’s wire-cleaning beads slide up and down which
effectively removes the unit’s internal particulate that may have accumulated during shipping.
Note: For General Operation and Installation, refer to pages 5 and 6 or the “Quick Start” included in your shipping box.

spores and motes of household dust.
According to IBR Laboratory testing, Silent Night gently diffuses virtually pure air into a room at a rate
of 6 air exchanges per hour for an average 12 x 12 American bedroom (240 square feet). Silent
Night’s turbulent-free laminar air flow eliminates noise, is ultra-energy efficient and reduces the
reintroduction of particles that are held in rugs, walls, storage areas and furniture, while the
turbulence of fan systems are more apt to stir up particles inside a room. Silent Night does not have
this problem because its capture ability does not require a fan.
The ZEPA-500 advanced technology always runs at its highest capture efficiency. It removes virtually
100% of the most dangerous airborne pollutants –from viruses to much larger particles. HEPA
manufacturers always publish impressive claims but their nature of their fans products are costly to
operate. And in real world environments, new pollutants are stirred back into the breathing zone by
this turbulence. Turning down a HEPA type unit to avoid the noise loses its effectiveness as the air
exchange rate falls to nearly zero.
1. Use only as directed by User’s Manual.
2. Do not open or disassemble the unit. No user-serviceable parts inside.
3. Not for outdoor use. Keep away from moisture, heat, fireplace, etc.
4. Observe caution when using air purifier in close proximity to children.
5. Use only the adapter provided. A substitute adapter may harm the unit and will also
void your warranty.
6. For maximum air flow, place the unit 18” from any wall.
7. Operating closer than 12” from your body can cause a harmless static discharge when
you touch a grounded surface.
8. Do not operate within 12” from metal or computer equipment.
9. As with any manufacturer’s filter, smoking or wood fires will shorten the filter life.
10. If you hear an internal noise such as crackling turn off your unit, invert six times, and
after 10 seconds, reset by pressing the rocker switch to the ON “O” position.
11. Extension cords are safe to use with your unit but can become a tripping hazard.
ELECTRODYNAMIC STATUS SENSOR LIGHT USER INSTRUCTIONS (ESL SYSTEM):
To assure that the unit is functioning properly check the Blue Neon Electrodynamic
Status Light (ESL). If for any reason it is off, turn the rocker switch off, wait ten
seconds and then on again to reset the system. Keep doing this until the system resets.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY: Certified low voltage class 2 wall universal wall adapter have been
incorporated (UL/CSA/CE). The Department of Energy classifies static charge potential
below 250 mJ (millijoules), the level of carpet static, as safe for humans. The ZEPA-500
model is well below this level at 5 mJ.
OZONE: The Silent Night ZEPA-500 exceeds ozone safety standards in California,
Canada and around the world as it tests at virtually zero –at ETL Intertek Laboratories,
an official Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory (NRTL).
General Operation
6
1. Review the General Operation instructions before operating your unit.
2. Two ZEPA filters are already installed located at the base of the unit.
3. Make sure the ON/OFF reset rocker switch is OFF (“O” position”). Insert wall adapter
into an AC outlet and wait until green light turns on.
4. At the end of the 9 foot adapter cord, the DC power plug is then inserted into the DC
input jack into the receptacle located at the bottom right of the machine.
5. Press “|” for ON and “O” for OFF. When ON (|), a low intensity blue electrodynamic
status light is visible inside the front grille.
6. Running your unit 24/7 is suggested for maximum effectiveness.
7. As long as the BLUE light can be your Silent Night is working properly.
8. With a new installation it can take a day or two for the Silent Night to settle down and
be completely quiet.
9. If for some reason your unit does not turn on initially, keep resetting a few times by
turning off the unit and waiting 10 seconds each time before turning it back on.
A Word About Filter Service Life for any Air Cleaner: All air purifier with filters at some
point fill up with particles and contaminants. This results in their useful filter efficiency to
go from 100% capture to zero really fast especially if placed by a fireplace, near smokers,
or high pollen counts or a lot of dusty surroundings.
Most air purifier companies do not rate their filters for continuous 24/7 operation at the
highest speed, which allows them to claim very long service life if set on low speeds as
this processes lower airflows and lower particle content so filters last longer. They also
rate their filtration systems for multiple pass airflows so a 50% efficient filter can still clean
the air. It just takes a lot longer.
SILENT NIGHT has only one airflow speed; maximum. A fresh (EF) filter has an incredible
single pass efficiency at virtually 100% against the smallest most hazardous to human
health size particles like virus and bacteria. Over time, like all filters the efficiency
drops off.
Installation
Internal Cleaning System: An internal cleaning mechanism works at your bidding. If
you hear a crackling sound inside your machine (caused by internal dust), this is normal
and it should go away on its own. For faster results, unplug the machine and invert six
times in succession. Wait 10 seconds and reset the unit to the “ON” position.
Filter Maintenance: To extend filter life, remove the (aqua colored) ZEPA-500 pre-filter
and the exit filter ZEPA-500 filters and vacuum weekly for the first month, then twice a
month thereafter. With each filter, use a vacuum brush attachment upward then
across the entire filter material. Changes are recommended every 6-12 months or as
required (see page 9). The permanent ozone filter just behind the front grille requires
no maintenance.

ZEPA-500’s Four Functional Stages
A
Noteworthy Features
FComparison
Points
1. Billions of particles including contaminants are pulled into and captured by the ZEPA-
500 anti-microbial rear ZEPA pre-filter.
2. Airflow is accelerated fanlessly by an electrodynamic air motor. This proprietary system
draws only 45 watts of power.
3. And then airflow passes through a second high efficiency filter for further purification.
4. And finally, airflow passes through the immediate front ozone filter that converts any
ozone produced into pure oxygen, thus, virtually zero ozone exiting the machine.
The result from the ZEPA-500’s Four Functional Stages is that purified air is silently
diffused into your room - achieving 6 air exchanges per hour of virtually ultra-clean
contaminant-free air so you can Breathe with Confidence®and sleep restfully.
Note: Noise, turbulence and light are known sleep interrupters. All of these issues are
minimized with Silent Night’s with ambient light tracker (light dims in a darkened room);
and unlike noisy air purifiers (that create a turbulent air flow and cause particles to stir
around in your environment), ZEPA-500’s virtually ultra-pure air is gently and silently
diffused into your room.
Billions of particulate that are at rest in carpet, drapes, furnishings, etc. are stirred up into
our breathing space by high speed fans or environmental factors, such as occupants, open
windows or nearby traffic. This "kitchen mixer effect” should be avoided as much as
possible. This recommendation is applicable to all air purification systems.
Why would you want less than maximum efficiency?
Did you know that standard air cleaners must be run at their maximum (noisiest) setting to
produce top results? The fact is that their Air Exchange Rate is tested at the maximum fan
speed, noise and turbo mode.
The ZEPA-500 always runs on maximum effectiveness. With its patented
electrodynamic advanced filtration, Silent Night captures nearly 100% of
particulate.
Therefore, if standard air cleaners are turned down to bearable noise levels, they
lose most of their Air Exchange Rate and do not clean the air very effectively. The
ZEPA-500 does not have these limitations.
ZEPA-500 Four Functional Stages
Silent Night’s ZEPA Filtration
Factoid: An average adult’s normal breathing is 12 inhalations per minute—
about 6 liters of air. Every HOUR, we inhale 12.7 cubic feet of air (and its
pollutants). Children have smaller lungs but their breathing much higher.

1. To remove or to insert the filters (Fig. 1),
turn the power switch to OFF (O) and
unplug the cord from the wall.
2. To remove either the front filter or back
filter, lay the unit on its back and pull
either the front or back filter straight out
of the unit.
3. To insert a new filter, reverse this
procedure while making sure both
filters are secured and flush with the
base of the unit when you set it upright.
(See Fig. 2)
4. Turn the rocker ON/OFF reset switch to
the ON position (|). (See Fig. 3)
Filter Benefits and Life Expectancy: ZEPA-500 filters protect the unit’s interior while also
protecting the unit’s electrodynamic air motor. Six months of solid performance is
normal. However, as with all air filters, if you smoke, or place near a fireplace or wood
burning stove, your filter life will shorten. To extend filter life, vacuum the front and back
grilles weekly, and vacuum both filters weekly for the first month, then twice a month
thereafter. (See page 10, ZEPA Filter Club)

ISSUE 1 - You are not sure if your Silent Night is running.
1. Check that your power supply is plugged into an active circuit and has a green ON
light. Some plugs are dead. Others are controlled by a wall switch.
2. Check that the power supply cord is plugged tightly into your Silent Night
3. Check to see if the rocker ON/OFF Reset switch is in the ON (I) position.
4. Just above the ON/OFF reset switch you will notice a low blue electrodynamic status
light. When your unit has power and electrical continuity, this light operates while also
confirming the electrodynamic system is operating properly - even in the dark.
5. To check for airflow, affix a strip of tissue to the front grille.
OTHER POSSIBLE PROBLEMS
If the green low voltage wall adapter flashes on and off, contact the company to obtain
a pre-paid label for return shipping. If everything is functioning but there is no blue light,
you will have to send your unit in for repair.
ISSUE 2 - Crackling, ticking or buzzing
1. Turn the power off and unplug your unit. Invert 6-12 times to perform internal
cleaning.
2. Remove the filters and vacuum them carefully on both sides. Sweep your vacuum
from left to right and up and down. Do not open the Silent Night unit. Doing so will void
warranty.
3. Leaving the filters out, put your unit upright, reconnect the power and turn it on.
Vacuum the front and rear grilles with up/down and left/right care. Thorough cleaning
will improve performance and extend filter life. Even if you do not hear any noises, take
these maintenance stops twice monthly.
ISSUE 3 - Carpet type discharge.
Bear in mind that static shocks are normal in homes, workplaces and hotels based on
carpeting materials, low humidity and other factors. To reduce static build-up by making
sure your unit is at least 12” from any metal.
Troubleshooting
12
The Silent Night ZEPA-500 is not a medical product and no claims are
made or implied that it can prevent, mitigate, treat, or cure any human
disease.
Lowering the concentration of toxic, allergenic, infective –inhalable
particles…including germs, pollens, dust, smoke and mold spores; also
lowers the probability of inhaling an infective or toxic allergenic dose of
these airborne contaminants.
“The expected number of cases among a given number of susceptible
persons is proportional to the average concentration of infectious
droplet nuclei in a room and the probability of inhaling an infective
dose.”
(Dr. Janet M. Macher, Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).
