Your Silent Night ZEPA-500 air cleaner is unmatched for

REAL-WORLD PURIFIED ROOM AIR PERFORMANCE
Silent Night’s non-turbulent laminar ow silently diffuses at the rate of
12,000 cubic feet per hour, or the equivalent of exchanging the air inside
a 400 sq ft room more than 4 times per hour with Quiet/Pure/Air.
This example reects how the EPA denes CLEAN AIR DELIVERY RATE
for residential air cleaners.
Your Silent Night eliminates virtually all airborne particulate: from the
smallest airborne virus and bacteria to toxic, infectious and allergenic
contaminated air which includes mold spores, pollens, fumes, smoke
and house dust. Billions of air pollution particles can be drawn into the
ZEPA-1 Filter, but virtually nothing comes out the Front Grille except
contaminant-free, puried air. We prove it with our laser Particle Testers!

WORDS FROM THE INVENTOR
Silent Night’s turbulent-free air ow technology eliminates noise, is ultra
energy-efcient and reduces the reintroduction of particles that are held
in rugs, walls, storage areas and furniture. In contrast, the turbulence of
fan motor systems is more apt to stir up particles inside a room. Silent
Night does not have this problem because its capture ability does not
require a fan.
The ZEPA-500 advanced technology always runs at its highest capture
efciency: maximum capacity. It removes virtually 100% of the most
dangerous airborne pollutants – from viruses to much larger particles.
HEPA manufacturers always publish impressive claims but all of
their motorized fan products are costly to operate. And in real-world
environments, new pollutants are stirred back into the breathing zone by
this turbulence. Lowering the fan speed of a HEPA-type unit to avoid the
noise diminishes its effectiveness because the air exchange rate falls to
nearly zero.

SILENT NIGHT ZEPA-500
ANY SOUND? If you hear a rattle in your
shipping box it is Silent Night’s unique cleaning
beads, sliding up or down the internal wires. If
you hear a tick or crackle when your Silent Night
is cleaning your air, it is pollution which has
adhered to the internal wires. Simply turn it off
and invert it 6 times or more so the beads can
clean away the particulate. When you turn it on
again it should be silent.
ANY SMELL? The Permanent Ozone Filter, just
behind the Front Grille, is treated with a catalyst
that converts ozone to oxygen and breaks down
volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). If an odor is
present, you are smelling the catalyst and it will
fade away.

Review the General Operation instructions before operating your unit.
1. Make sure the On/Off switch is OFF (O). Insert wall adapter into an AC outlet and wait until green light turns
on, indicating that your adapter has power.
2. Insert the DC input plug into the jack at the bottom right side of the Silent Night. Make sure it is inserted
securely before turning on the power switch.
3. The ElectroDynamic status light, a low intensity blue light, will turn on when you press ON (|).
4. Two replaceable ZEPA Filters are already installed in the base of the unit.
5. Running your unit 24/7 is suggested for maximum effectiveness.
6. As long as the blue light can be seen your Silent Night is working properly.
FILTER BENEFITS AND LIFE EXPECTANCY
ZEPA-500 lters protect the interior and ElectroDynamic air motor. Six
months of solid performance is normal. However, as with all air lters,
if you smoke, or place your air cleaner near a replace or wood burning
stove, your lter life will shorten. To extend lter life, vacuum the Back
Grille weekly, and vacuum both lters weekly for the rst month, then
twice a month thereafter. (Do not vacuum Front Grille.)
ZEPA® FILTER CLUB
Becoming a member of the ZEPA Filter Club increases your standard
1-year limited warranty to 3 years. The purpose of this program is to
ensure your unit is working at its optimum performance. And, you will
never have to worry about forgetting to order lters - because you
will automatically receive your replacement lters every six months.

1. To remove or to insert the lters (Fig. 1), turn the power switch to OFF
(O) and unplug the cord from the wall.
2. Lay your Silent Night on its back and slide out either lter for cleaning
or replacing. No tools needed. (Fig. 2)
3. To insert a new lter, reverse this movement. Be sure the lters are
inserted far enough into the unit that it is level when you turn it right-
side up. (Fig. 3)
4. Turn the power switch to ON (|).

1. Use only as directed.
2. Do not open or disassemble the unit. No user-
serviceable parts inside.
3. Not for outdoor use. Keep away from moisture,
heat, replace, etc.
4. Use only the adapter provided. A substitute
adapter may harm the unit and will void your
warranty.
5. Do not operate closer than 12” from any walls,
computers, electronics or metal.
6. Operating closer than 12” from your body may
cause a harmless static discharge when you
touch a grounded surface.
7. If you hear an internal noise such as ticking
or crackling, simply invert your unit 6 times or
more so the beads can clean the wires.
8. As with any manufacturer’s lter, smoking or
wood res will shorten the lter life.
ELECTRODYNAMIC STATUS LIGHT: Check the
blue ElectroDynamic status light that is located just
above the On/Off switch. If it is not illuminated, turn your
Silent Night OFF (O), wait 10 seconds and then turn it ON
(|) again.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY: Your Silent Night comes with
a certied low voltage class 2 universal wall adapter
(UL/CSA/CE).
OZONE SAFETY: Silent Night ZEPA-500 meets
ozone safety standards in California, Canada and
around the world. Tested at zero output as shipped from
the manufacturer.

Internal Cleaning System
An internal cleaning mechanism works at your bidding. From time to time you may hear a ticking, crackling or
hissing sound. This is proof that your unit is working and can easily be managed. Simply invert your unit 6 times or
more so the beads can clean stray particles off the wires.
Filter Maintenance
To extend lter life, turn the power switch to OFF (O), remove both lters and vacuum front and back (twice
monthly is recommended). Clean the Front Grille with a damp cloth only. DO NOT vacuum the Front Grille.
Replace the two ZEPA lters at 6 months or sooner if conditions are harsh.
A Word About Filter Service Life for any Air Cleaner
All air lter systems eventually ll up with particles and contaminants. Their efciency goes from 100% capture
capability to zero. Filters get clogged more quickly near a replace, in a smoker’s home, or in high pollen, high mold
or very dusty surroundings.
Most air purier companies do not rate their lters for continuous 24/7 operation at the highest speed. This allows
them to claim a longer service life because less air is processed when operating at medium to low speed.
Silent Night always operates at maximum air ow speed and with ZEPA Filters, has virtually 100% air cleansing
ability.
GENERAL OPERATION
GENERAL MAINTENANCE

ZEPA FILTRATION
An average adult’s normal breathing is 12 inhalations
per minute—about 6 liters of air. Every hour, we inhale
12.7 cubic feet of air, including its pollutants. Children
have smaller lungs but their breathing rate is higher.
Billions of microscopic particles that are at rest in
carpeting, drapes, furnishings, etc. are stirred up into
the breathing zone by high speed fans and human or
pet activity. Additional pollution—from trafc, industry,
etc.—enters through open windows and as we pass in
and out through doors.
Why would you want less than maximum efciency?
Standard air cleaners must be run at their maximum
(noisiest) setting to produce top results. Tests to
establish their “air exchange ratings” are done at the
highest, noisiest, most costly fan or turbo settings.
If standard air cleaners are turned down to bearable
noise levels, they lose most of their Air Exchange
Rate and do not clean the air very effectively. The
ZEPA-500 does not have these limitations and
uniquely, always runs on maximum effectiveness.
With its ElectroDynamic advanced ltration, Silent
Night captures nearly 100% of pollutants and airborne
contaminants thereby lowering the risk of infectious,
toxic or allergenic conditions.

TESTING AND CERTIFICATIONS
ELECTRICAL AND OZONE SAFETY: In compliance with
worldwide regulations CSA/CE/UL867. Ozone output
tested at zero as shipped by the manufacturer.
IBR TEST LABS CLEAN AIR DELIVERY RATE (a certied
independent AHAM lab) tested Silent Night at 197.2
Smoke CADR cubic feet per minute, or the equivalent of

SOUND LEVEL TESTING: Virtually zero dBA for the
fanless Silent Night using patented 21st century
ElectroDynamic air propulsion.
4 FUNCTIONAL STAGES
1. Airow is created by an ElectroDynamic air
motor (not by a power-hungry fan). This proprietary
system operates at full capacity on only 45 Watts.
2. In every 24-hour period of operation, hundreds
of millions of invisible particles are pulled into and
captured by the anti-microbial ZEPA-1 Filter.
3. Air then passes through the high-efciency
ZEPA-2 Filter for further purication.
4. At the very front of the unit is a Permanent
Ozone Filter that converts ozone to ultra-pure,
breathable oxygen.

ElectroDynamic Air Cleaning Technology Virtually silent,

ZEPA Filtration Technology
ZEPA (Zephyr ElectroDynamic Particulate Arrestment).
The ZEPA-500 has two replaceable lters. The ZEPA-1 Back
Filter substantially reduces larger particulate. The ZEPA-2
Front Filter produces Silent Night’s contaminant-free air.

Star requirement by a wide margin. In compliance with
worldwide regulations CSA/CE/UL867. Input, 90V-240V
26v (class 2) ultra-protection all country low voltage wall
adapter.
CADR Clean Air Delivery Rate IBR, a certied AHAM
Independent Lab, tested Silent Night at 197.2 Smoke CADR
cubic feet per minute, the equivalent of 12,000 cubic feet
per hour. Silent Night delivers 4 air exchanges per hour in a
400 square foot room.

Permanent Ozone Filter At the very front of your unit is the
Permanent Ozone Filter that converts ozone into oxygen.
It does not need to be replaced because catalysts are not
depleted as they function.
Important Note: DO NOT vacuum the Front Grille. To clean
it, wipe with a damp cloth.
Ionizer The Ionizer is an optional carbon ber emitter
designed for commercial/extended area use, where you
can place the Silent Night 6 feet from any wall. The Ionizer
tube is at the top left of the Front Grille.
Warranty 1 year ltd. warranty; optional 3 year ltd. warranty.
Maintenance Weekly or when needed, activate the unique
internal cleaning mechanism by inverting your unit 6 or
more times to allow the beads to clean the internal wires.
Twice a month, remove front and back lters and vacuum.
1. Check that your power supply is plugged into an
active circuit and has a green ON light. Some
plugs are dead. Others are controlled by a wall
switch. If no green light, call your 800PA Rep for
a new low voltage adaptor.
2. Check that your wall adapter is securely plugged
into your Silent Night.
3. Check that the On/Off switch is ON (I).
4. Check that the blue light is ON.
5. If all of the above checks out, but there is no
power to your Silent Night, call your Rep for
additional help.
1. Turn the power off and invert your unit 6 times or
more to perform internal cleaning.
2. Remove both lters and vacuum well. Sweep your
vacuum from left to right and up and down.
3. DO NOT vacuum the Front Grille. Only wipe with a
damp cloth.
4. Still noisy? Try a different wall outlet (occasionally
this matters). If this fails, call your Rep.
5. Even if you do not hear noises, take these
maintenance steps monthly.
Reduce static build-up by making sure your unit is at
least 12” from any computer, electronics or metal.
If your wall adapter has a green light, but your Silent
Night has no blue light (above the On/Off switch),
send your unit in for repair or replacement.
Turn the On/Off switch to OFF (O). Invert the unit 6
times or more, allowing the bead-cleaning system to
scrape the particulate from the air motor wires, and
then turn it back ON (|).
