Fox-in-a-Box® Thermal Printer Installation Guide
Fox-in-a-Box® is the result of many years working with engineers across the globe enabling us to combine a printer
that offers the benefits of being easy to: set up, run, change labels, change ribbons and is a printer that has proved
to be very reliable and is suitably quiet enabling you to use it in normal office conditions.
Please follow the step by step guide to set up your DTP-1 printer.
Every printer has been thoroughly tested to run all the labels types before it leaves our factory.
At the back of this guide you will find the settings for the blue dials suggested for running each
label type.
Please note that it is important to set up your printer BEFORE connecting your printer to the PC.
Please remove all the tapes around the top and inside the printer.
Remember to switch on and connect your printer each time before you open the software.
If there are guidance systems included in the carton these can be found on the inside of the lid of
the printer.
Thank you for choosing Fox-in-a-Box® from Silver Fox®.

4. Slide the empty card core onto the ribbon
holder as shown:
5. Place the empty card core on the ribbon holder
onto the front ribbon mountings and peal off the top
strip from the double-sided tape :
6. Now take the end of the clear lead-in material and feed underneath to the rear of the cardboard core and stick to
the core using the double-sided tape. Then wind the clear material onto the core anti-clockwise as shown in the
images below:
VERY IMPORTANT!
Please note the front roll will
rotate the same way as the
rear roll – ie: anti-clockwise.
When fixing and winding the
lead-in on the front roll, you
need to wind it anti-
clockwise. Do not under
any circumstances
attempt to rotate the
ribbon holders when the
printer head is locked
down as this may cause
damage to the winding
mechanism.
