Information about these operating instructions
Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance!
You have chosen a modern, high-quality product. These operating instructions
are part of the product. They contain important information about safety, usage
and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all oper-
ating and safety instructions. This product may only be used as described and for
the purposes indicated. Please also pass these operating instructions on to any
future owner.
Intended use
The steam iron is intended exclusively for the ironing of textiles. The iron may only
be used indoors and in private households. Any other use is deemed improper.
The appliance is not intended for use in commercial or industrial environments.
Claims of any kind for damage resulting from misuse, incompetent repairs,
unauthorised modification or the use of unauthorised replacement parts will not
be accepted. The operator bears sole liability.
Warnings and symbols used
The following warnings and symbols are used in these operating instructions, on
the packaging and on the appliance (where applicable):
DANGER! A warning with this symbol and the signal word
"DANGER" indicates an imminently hazardous situation which
will result in death or serious injury if not avoided.
WARNING! A warning with this symbol and the signal word
"WARNING" indicates a potentially hazardous situation which
could result in death or serious injury if not avoided.
CAUTION! A warning with this symbol and the signal word
"CAUTION" indicates a potentially hazardous situation which
could result in a minor or moderate injury if not avoided.
ATTENTION! A warning with this symbol and the signal word
"ATTENTION" indicates a potential situation which could result in
property damage if not avoided.

Safety information
DANGER! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
► The voltage of the power source must correspond with the
details given on the type plate of the appliance.
► To avoid potential risks, arrange for a defective appliance to
be checked and possibly repaired by qualified technicians,
or contact our Customer Service department.
► To prevent accidents, have defective plugs and/or power
cables replaced immediately by an authorised specialist,
our Customer Service or a similarly qualified person.
► When disconnecting the appliance from the power source,
pull only on the plug itself, never on the cable.
► Never bend (kink) or crush the power cable, and always
route it in such a way that it cannot come into contact with
hot surfaces and so that no one can step on or trip over it.
► Unplug the appliance from the mains before cleaning,
before filling the water tank and after each use.
► Always unroll the power cable fully before switching on
and do not use an extension cable.
► Never touch the power cable or the plug with wet or damp
hands.
► Never use the steam iron next to water contained in a bath,
shower, wash basin or other vessels. The proximity of water
is hazardous, even if the appliance is switched off.

► Under no circumstances should you immerse the steam iron
in any liquid or permit liquids to penetrate into the housing
of the steam iron. Do not expose the appliance to humidity
and do not use it outdoors. If any liquid gets into the housing,
disconnect the appliance from the mains power socket im-
mediately and have it repaired by a qualified technician.
► Do not open the steam iron housing. Have a defective
steam iron repaired only by an authorised technician.
► Do not use the steam iron if it is visibly damaged, has been
dropped or is leaking water. Have it repaired by qualified
specialists.
► Stop using the appliance if the anti-kink protection on the
power cable is damaged.
► Always pull the power plug out of the socket before filling
the water tank with water.
► This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years or older
and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they
are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the
appliance and understand the potential risks. Do not allow
children to use the appliance as a toy. Cleaning and user
maintenance tasks may not be carried out by children unless
they are supervised.

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
Caution, hot surfaces!
► When the steam iron is hot, hold it only by the handle.
► Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the appliance.
► Never place your hands in the steam spray or on hot metal
parts.
► Do not open the filler opening for the water tank while the
iron is in use. Allow the steam iron to cool down first and
remove the plug from the power socket.
► When it is switched on or cooling down, the steam iron and
its connecting cable must be kept out of the reach of children
who are younger than 8 years old.
► This steam iron should only be used and set down on stable
surfaces.
► Place the steam iron only on level and heat-resistant surfaces.
The steam iron must be stable.
► When you want to put the steam iron down, always stand it
on its base.
► Never leave a hot steam iron unattended if it is switched on
or connected to the mains power supply.
► Do not put the steam iron away until it has cooled down
completely.

ATTENTION!
► If the clothing care instructions forbid ironing ( symbol),
the clothing item may not be ironed. Ignoring this warning
could lead to permanent damage to the clothing item.
► Iron only with the settings indicated on the care instructions
and suitable for the material. Otherwise, you could damage
the clothing.
► Only fill the water tank with tap water or distilled water.
Otherwise, you will damage the steam iron.
► Do not clean the steam iron with solvents, alcohol or abrasive
cleaning agents. They could damage it.
Package contents and transport inspection
ƇRemove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the
packaging.
ƇRemove all packaging materials and any films and labels.
Check the contents of the package. The package contents include the following
components (see fold-out page for illustrations):

Note
► Check the package for completeness and signs of visible damage.
► If the delivery is incomplete or damage has occurred as a result of defective
packaging or during transport, contact the Customer Service hotline (see
Service section).

Before first use
ATTENTION!
► Before using the steam iron for the first time to iron garments, first steam iron
a piece of fabric that is no longer needed (e.g. an old towel). This eliminates
any production residues that may be present.
1) Use the measuring cup tto fill the water tank e(see section Filling the
water tank).
2) Plug the power plug into a mains power socket supplying an electrical
current corresponding to that given on the rating plate.
3) Slide the steam control 3all the way down to position (more steam) (see
Fig. 1).

4) Let the steam iron heat up (see section Plugging in and ironing).
5) Now hold the steam iron horizontally. Steam escapes from the steam
outlets rin the soleplate q.
6) Press the steam blast button 4a few times so that as much steam as
possible is emitted through the steam outlets r.
7) Steam iron a piece of fabric that is no longer needed (e.g. an old towel)
to remove any production residue.

Filling the water tank
DANGER! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
► Always disconnect the plug from the mains socket before filling the water
tank e. There is a risk of electric shock!
WARNING!
► Allow the appliance to cool down before filling the water tank e.
Otherwise, there is risk of burns!
ATTENTION!
► Fill the water tank eonly with tap water or distilled water. Otherwise, you
will damage the steam iron.
Note
► If the mains water in your location is rated as hard, it is recommended that
you mix the mains water with some distilled water. Otherwise, limescale
deposits can adversely affect the appliance functions.
Mix tap water with distilled water as described in this table:

► Ask your local water utility about the water hardness in your area.
1) Make sure that the
steam control 3 is set to position 0 (see Fig. 2).

2) Hold the steam iron at an angle in your hand and open the lid of the filling
opening Easy-Fill 2(see Fig. 3).

3) Fill the measuring cup twith tap water or distilled water. Use the measuring
cup tto fill the water tank e(see Fig. 4).

4) Fill the water tank eto the mark MAX at the most. Place the steam iron on
the base 0and check that the filling level does not exceed the mark MAX
(see Fig. 5). Pour out any excess water. The maximum filling capacity of the
water tank eis approx. 320 ml.

5) Close the lid of the filler opening Easy-Fill 2.
Plugging in and ironing
Note
► While it is heating up, always place the steam iron on its base 0.
1) Plug the power plug into a mains socket.
2) The steam iron starts to heat up. The hand indicator LED 6and the heat
indicator LED 8flash.
3) The steam iron is heated up and ready for use when the heat indicator
LED 8lights up continuously.
Note
► During ironing, the heat indicator LED 8may flash as the set temperature
is kept constant by the thermostat. You can continue ironing normally in the
meantime.
► As soon as you hold the steam iron by the handle 7, the hand indicator
LED 6lights up continuously.

Care instructions
ATTENTION!
► If the clothing care instructions forbid ironing ( ), the garment may not
be ironed. Ignoring this warning could lead to permanent damage to the
clothing item.
► If you do not find any care instructions on the garment, first start ironing a
usually invisible, inconspicuous part of the garment.
► Check the care instructions on the labels in the garment to see if the garment
is suitable for steam ironing/ironing with steam blast (see table):

Note
► Thanks to IdealTemp technology, the steam iron has an automatic, infinitely
variable temperature setting that is suitable for steam ironing all ironable
textiles (symbols ). IdealTemp technology combines a moder-
ately high soleplate temperature qwith hot, high-pressure steam. It is no
longer necessary to set the ironing temperature on the device. The automatic
adjustment of the temperature during steam ironing prevents the textiles from
being damaged by an incorrect temperature setting.
Handle sensor and automatic switch-off
Note
► The steam iron has a sensor inside the handle 7that reacts to touch. The
handle sensor controls the heating temperature and the automatic switch-off
of the steam iron during operation.
■ The temperature rises during heating until the operating temperature is
reached. The steam iron is heated up and ready for use when the heat
indicator LED 8lights up continuously. As soon as you hold the steam iron
by the handle 7, the operating temperature is kept constant and the hand
indicator LED 6lights up continuously.

■ When you take your hand off the handle 7the automatic switch-off is
activated and the steam iron stops heating. The hand indicator LED 6starts
flashing, and the iron soleplate qslowly cools down to ambient tempera-
ture. As soon as you hold the steam iron by the handle 7, it heats up again.
Note
► The automatic switch-off is not intended as a substitute for removing the plug
from the mains power!
It is only used to avoid unnecessary power consumption and to reduce the
risk of fire when the steam iron is still connected to the mains socket.
Dry ironing
ATTENTION!
► Only use the steam iron for dry ironing damp and heat-resistant cotton or
linen clothing. Ignoring this warning could lead to permanent damage to the
clothing item.
1) Slide the steam control 3all the way up to position 0(no steam) (see Fig. 2) .
2) Allow the steam iron to heat up until the heat indicator LED 8lights up
continuously.
3) Start ironing.
Steam ironing
ATTENTION!
► If the care instructions in the garment prohibit steam ironing (see table in
section Care instructions ), do not steam iron the garment. Ignoring this
warning could lead to permanent damage to the clothing item.
1) Set the steam control 3to the desired steam setting:
–middle position: less steam
–lowest position : more steam
2) Allow the steam iron to heat up until the heat indicator LED 8lights up
continuously.
3) Steam comes out of the soleplate q as soon as you hold the steam iron
horizontally. Start ironing.

Ironing with steam blast
ATTENTION!
► Sensitive types of fabric such as synthetics or silk can be damaged by steam
blast ironing. Only use the steam blast function on garments that are suitable
for it (see table in section Care instructions
) .
Note
► The steam blast function is particularly suitable for smoothing thick or heavily
creased textiles or hard-to-reach areas of a garment.
► With the steam blast function, you can blast single bursts of steam during
both steam ironing and dry ironing (steam control 3to position 0).
1) Allow the steam iron to heat up until the heat indicator LED 8lights up
continuously.
2) Lift the steam iron slightly and hold it a few centimetres above the garment.
3) Briefly press the steam blast button 4several times at intervals of approx.
5 seconds ( see Fig. 6).

4) Touch the garment lightly with the soleplate q and steam it to remove wrinkles.

Vertical ironing with steam blast
1) Allow the steam iron to heat up until the heat indicator LED 8lights up
continuously.
2) Hang the garment to be ironed on a hanger hanging from a heat-resistant surface.
3) Hold the steam iron in a vertical position a few centimetres in front of the garment.
4) Briefly press the steam blast button 4several times at intervals of approx.
5 seconds
(see Fig. 7).

5) Touch the garment lightly with the soleplate q and steam it to remove
wrinkles.
Spray function
ATTENTION!
► Do not use the spray function on silk garments. This may cause water stains
on the clothing.
Note
► Use the spray function for very dry, heavily creased laundry.
► You can use the spray function when steam ironing and when dry ironing.
1) Allow the steam iron to heat up until the heat indicator LED 8lights up
continuously.
2) Point the water jet 1 at the part of the garment you want to moisten.

3) Press the button for the
spray function 5 (see Fig. 8).

Putting the steam iron down
WARNING!
► Never leave the hot steam iron connected to the mains socket unattended.
1) Slide the steam control 3all the way up to position 0(no steam).
2) Always place the steam iron on the base 0when not in use.
After use
1) Slide the steam control 3all the way up to position 0.
2) Pull the mains plug out of the mains socket.
3) Stand the steam iron on its base 0and allow it to cool down completely.
4) Empty the water tank evia the filling opening
Easy-Fill 2and clean
the iron soleplate q(see section Cleaning the housing and iron
soleplate).
5) Place the steam iron back on the base 0.

Anti-drip system
The steam iron has an anti-drip system to prevent water from dripping from the
soleplate qduring ironing. This could otherwise happen if the heating tempera-
ture is still too low and thus no water vapour can develop.
Note
► When the anti-drip function is active, you will hear a clicking sound, especially
during the heating or cooling phase. This noise is due to the design and
indicates the correct functioning of the anti-drip system.
Cleaning
DANGER! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
► Always unplug the appliance before cleaning it.
There is a risk of electric shock!
WARNING!
► Allow the steam iron to cool down before cleaning it. Otherwise, there is risk
of burns!
Cleaning the housing and soleplate
ATTENTION!
► Do not use abrasive, aggressive or chemical cleaning agents. These can
damage the surface and the soleplate qof the steam iron.
ƇClean the housing and the soleplate qwith a slightly damp soft cloth.
If necessary, use a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent.
ƇAllow the steam iron to dry completely before using it again.
