The tape will advance at a rapid speed to the
desired spot on the tape when this control is depressed.
Fast Ra{ind
The tape will rewind at a rapid speed when this
control is depressed.
Mike
When recording with a microphone, this input
is used.
Radio-P hono
This input is used when recording directly from
a radio, phonograph, or television receiver.
OPERATING
Threading the Tape
l. Depress the Stop control.
2. Place a reel of tape on the right-hand (supply)
spindle (76).
3. Place an empty reel on the left-hand (take-up)
spindre (?6).
4. Rotate both reels until they are seated over the
spindLe key.
5. Unwind approximately12 inches of tape from the
right-hand reel and insert it into the tape slot.
Make sure the dull-coated side faces the rear of
the recorder.
6. Insert thefree end ofthe tape into the slotof the
left-hand reel. Turn tfie reel several turns to
secure the tape to the reel and to take all slack
up between reels.
Microphone Recording - Half-Track
l. Plug the microphone into the "Mike" jack.
2. Turn theFunction control to the "Play" position
and then pull the Record Lock Button up and si-
multaneously turn the Function control to tJre
right until a cliek is heardl then release both
controls.
3. Set the Main Volume control so the Record
Indicator flashes on the Ioudest passages.
4. Set the Speed control for the desired speed. Up
f.or 3 3/ 4 ips and Down for 7 L/ 2 ips.
5. Set the Track Selector to AlBl position.
6. Hold the microphone 12 to l8 inches from your
mouth and speak in a normal manner to setthe
Recording Level Indicator for correct volume.
7. Depress the Run control.
External Speaker
This input is used for connecting an external
amplifier orspeaker to the record, or headphones for
monitoring recordings that are being made.
Stereo 0utput
This output isfor connecting an external ampli-
fier speaker unit tothe recorder for the second chan-
nel for playback of stereo tapes.

Push 0ff/0n Switch
Depressing this button turns the External Am-
plifier-Speaker unit on and off.
Recording Level I ndicator
This indicates the correct level to set the vol-
ume control during a recording. It should be set so
it flashes occasionally on the loudest passages.

Pickup from the Microphone through the Loudspeaker
l. Place the microphone about 6 to 12 inches in
front of the loudspeaker.
2. Adjust thevolume control ofthe sound source to
a desired listening level.
3. Set the tone control to treble or high.
4. Set the recording level and record as under
"Microphone Recording Half-Traek or Quarter-
Track".
