intitaniumcasings,anddesignedusing
advancedshockabsorbingmaterials.The
informationcollectedbythesensorsare
sentthroughthewatertothehydrophone
bymeansofcodedsoundwaves.
TheSensorReceiverampliesanddecodes
theinformation,convertsittodigital
format,andsendsittotheProcessorUnit
(computer).Thecomputerinterpretsthe
information,andnallypresentsittoyou.
Aloudspeakermustbeinstalledifyou
wishtoheartheaudiblealarms.Notethata
loudspeakercannotbeconnecteddirectlytothecomputer.Anamplierisrequired.

TheSimradPI50systemisdesignedtobecontrolled
byacommercialmaritimecomputer.Thiscomputer
mustbebasedontheMicrosoftWindows®7operating
system.Itmustfurtherbedesignedforruggeduse,
andshouldbeabletowithstandthevibrationsand
movementsofavessel.
Thecomputerisnormallymountedinthewheelhouse.
NotethatthecomputerisnotastandardpartofthePI50delivery.Simradmayprovidea
suitablemaritimecomputer.Consultyourdealerformoreinformation.

1PoweruptheSensorReceiver.
TheSensorReceiverisnotttedwithanon/offswitch.Youmayleavetheunit
permanentlypoweredup.IfyouarenotusingthePI50foralongperiodoftime,
disconnectthepowersupply.
2Powerupthecolourdisplay.
Ifrequired,refertotheinstructionsprovidedbythedisplaymanufacturer.
3PoweruptheProcessorUnit(computer).
Waitfortheoperatingsystemtostartup.
4Double-clickthePI50icononthedesktoptostarttheprogram.
5Waitwhiletheprogramstartsonthecomputer.
6Chooseusersettings.
Duringtheprogramload,adialogboxappearstoletyouchoosefromthecurrent
usersettingsavailableonthePI50.
Thedialogboxisonlyvisibleafewseconds.Youdonotneedtomakeachoice
