This guide explains how to connect your
MY SKY box to your home Wi-Fi using our
SKY LINK connector.

01 PLUG IN
Press the standby button on your SKY remote and
switch o your MY SKY box at the mains. Check that
the power light on the front of your SKY box is o
before proceeding.
1Find the Ethernet and power cable that came
with your SKY LINK Wireless Connector.

Plug one end of the black Ethernet cable into the
Ethernet port on the back of your MY SKY box, and
the other end into the yellow Ethernet port on the
back of the SKY LINK.
Plug the black power cable into the matching power
port on the back of the SKY LINK then plug it in at the
mains.

Your SKY LINK should be placed on top of or beside
your MY SKY box. It’s best to keep it o the loor.

Switch on the mains power socket. The power light
on the SKY LINK will come on.
Turn your MY SKY box on at the mains. Wait 2 minutes
then press the SKY button on your remote.

02 CONNECT
Press the setup button on your remote. Scroll up to
Internet Connection then press select. The screen
above will appear, select your wireless network.
Enter your password using the alpha numeric keypad
on your remote. It can be a little tricky at irst, so take
your time. Once you are done, press select to continue.

Tips to remember:
• Special characters can be entered by pressing 1
•
Most network passwords are case sensitive. To access lower case
letters scroll through the upper case letters irst e.g for the lower
case letter ‘m’ press the number 6 on your remote ive times.

After 30 seconds the screen above will appear to let
you know you’re connected. Now press back .

03 WATCH
To dive into your SKY On Demand service, select
On Demand from the top level menu. You will arrive
at the On Demand screen, which includes thumbnail
images of the titles available.

• Your WiFi password is number sensitive so make sure you’re not
confusing the letter O with the number zero. Letter O is number 6
on your remote.
• If you can’t remember your WiFi password, you’ll need to contact
your internet service provider.

Once you’ve found a show you’d like to watch, simply
press select on your remote and follow the on screen
instructions to start downloading to your planner.

Note on data usage
The show or movie you select will be downloaded
through your home internet connection and will
use part of your data package.
You’ll be able to watch the content that you currently
subscribe to. Other content will be available on a pay
per view basis subject to SKY’s standard terms
and conditions.

The power light on the front of the SKY LINK isn’t on.
This means it’s not getting any power.
To ix this:
Make sure you’re using the supplied power cable.
Make sure it’s plugged in properly into the power
port at the back of your SKY LINK and check that
it’s switched on at the mains.

Having trouble? Here are the
solutions to a few problems.
The wireless light on the front of the SKY LINK isn’t on.
This means there’s a wireless connection problem between
your SKY LINK and your router.
To ix this:
Disconnect the power cable from the back of your
SKY LINK, then plug it in again.
Check the status of your wireless connection by visiting
Settings > Internet Connection on your MY SKY box —
your ‘Local Area Network’ and ‘Wide Area Network’ must
indicate OK.
If the light is still not showing up, visit
sky.co.nz/ondemand

The SKY On Demand screen doesn’t show any
programme images.
You’ll need to check the status of your wireless connection.
To ix this:
Go through the steps beginning on page 3.
Check the status of your wireless connection by visiting
Settings > Internet Connection on your MY SKY box —
your ‘Local Area Network’ and ‘Wide Area Network’
must indicate OK. ‘
If both the ‘Local Area Network’ and ‘Wide Area Network’
status show ‘FAIL’.
Check that the SKY LINK and your MY SKY box are powered
and connected properly. Visit a page on your laptop or
computer to check that your home Wii is working OK.
Please note: If your home Wii is not working you will need
to contact your service provider.
To ix this:
Go through the steps beginning on page 3.
Press the Red button to reset the wireless connection.
If only the ‘Wide Area Network’ is showing FAIL, check
that your router is connected and you have a working
internet connection.

SAFETY
Using your equipment safely
Your new SKY LINK is manufactured to meet international
safety standards, but there are still a few things to remember
when operating this nifty piece of technology.
It’s important that you read this section completely,
including the Warnings and Cautions instructions. You
should follow the instructions set out in the guide carefully
to make sure you’ve set everything up properly. If you have
any questions or concerns regarding the operation or safety
of the SKY LINK please get in touch with us.
Warnings and Cautions
•Never attempt to remove the cover of the SKY LINK
or repair it in anyway. Instead, get in touch with us
and we’ll help you out.
•If you move your SKY LINK between locations with
dierent temperatures (especially in the South Island!),
allow it to reach room temperature before you turn it on.
•Don’t connect your SKY LINK to the mains until you’ve
connected all of the other leads irst.
•Disconnect your SKY LINK from the mains supply before
you disconnect any other equipment.
•Never push or prod anything into the holes, slots or
other openings in the casing of your SKY LINK.
•Your SKY LINK is intended for use in moderate climates.
Remember the mains can be lethal or can cause
a severe electric shock.

•In order to ensure a free low of air around your SKY
LINK, allow at least 10cm of space above and on both
sides. Don’t cover any ventilation holes or slots. Give it
some space to chill out!
•Don’t place your SKY LINK close to any heat sources
such as the heater or direct sunlight. The maximum
temperature should not exceed 40˚C.
•Don’t put anything on your SKY LINK that could drip or
spill into it. Never stand objects illed with liquids, such
as vases, on top.
•Never place your SKY LINK near naked lame sources,
such as candles or a toasty ire. Yes, campires included.
Connecting to the mains
Only use the black power cable supplied. Never use this
cable with any other product. If you’re unsure about
anything relating to the mains supply, get in touch with a
trusted electrician.
