1.5 CHARGING YOUR GT1
It takes approximately 4 hours to fully charge the GT1 from a depleted
state. A full charge enables the device to operate for up to 12 hours. We
recommend charging your GT1 every time after you play, so it will be ready
to go when you are.
A. Charging via a wall outlet
1.
Insert the micro-USB connector of the enclosed charging cable
into your GT1’s USB port and insert the other end into a USB
power adaptor (not included).
2.
Plug the power adaptor into a wall outlet or surge protector.
Your GT1 will automatically begin charging and the Power
Indicator LED will flash red. When the GT1 is fully charged, the
Power Indicator LED will be solid green.
B. Charging via a USB port on the computer
Your GT1 will charge when it is connected to a computer that is
powered on and connected to a wall outlet. Simply connect the
USB end of the enclosed charging cable to your computer and
the micro-USB end to the GT1.
1.6 LED LIGHT INDICATORS
There are three Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) at the top of your GT1:
A. Power Indicator (the LED on the right)
• The Power Indicator will flash red when your GT1 is
plugged in and charging.
11
• The LED will turn to solid green when your GT1 has been
fully charged. During play, the power indicator will be a
solid green until the battery level of your GT1 gets low.
• The Power Indicator will flash red when the battery level is low.
NOTE: You can also check the battery level of your GT1 in
the SkyCaddie Mobile app when paired to your smartphone.
B. GPS Indicator (the LED on the left)
• The GT1 is in the process of acquiring a GPS signal
when the GPS Indicator is flashing.
• The LED will turn solid green when the GT1 has acquired
a GPS signal.
HINT: For best accuracy, we recommend that you allow your
GT1 to acquire a solid GPS signal with a clear view of the sky,
5-10 minutes prior to starting a round.
C. Bluetooth®Indicator (the center LED)
This LED will be illuminated in solid green when you have
an active Bluetooth connection with another device (e.g.
your smartphone).
2.0 SETTING UP THE GT1 AS A GPS ACCURACY BOOSTER
The GT1 can improve the accuracy of your smartphone by up to 300%
when paired and set up for use with the SkyCaddie Mobile app. While
“how-to” information is provided in the SkyCaddie Mobile app, following
are the steps for setting up your GT1 as a GPS Booster*:

NOTE: The standard blue dot, which represents your GPS
position on the course, will change to an image of the GT1,
indicating that the GT1 is powering your on-course location.
3.0 SETTING UP SKYGOLF GAMETRACKER SMARTTAGS
Before you can start using the SkyGolf GameTracker SmartTags, each
SmartTag needs to be matched to the club to which it is attached. Most
of the “how-to” information of this “learning process” is provided in the
SkyCaddie Mobile app, but following is an overview of the setup process
of the GameTracker system**:

1. Pair the GT1 with SkyCaddie Mobile
With the GT1 ON, open the SkyCaddie Mobile app and tap
on “Menu < Pair Bluetooth Device” from the Home screen.
2. Select the GT1 from the list of devices.
The middle LED on the GT1 will illuminate solid green to
indicate that the GT1 is paired.
NOTE: The GT1 utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy. This means
that you will pair the GT1 via the SkyCaddie Mobile app, rather
than via the Settings menu on your smartphone.
* If you wish to set up the sample tag included with your GT1, please
install it on the club of your choice and follow steps 3.2-3.4.
2.1 ON-COURSE WITH THE GT1
In order to have the best on-course experience with your SkyGolf GT1,
we recommend you follow these preferred-use steps:
1. Turn on the GT1. Press the Power button to turn on the GT1.
The device will start searching for a GPS signal. Wait until the
GPS Indicator (the left LED) is solid green (this usually takes
less than one minute, with a clear view of the sky), indicating
that the GT1 has acquired a GPS signal.
2. Start a new round of golf with the SkyCaddie Mobile app
on your smartphone. If you have already paired your GT1 with
with your smartphone, the SkyCaddie Mobile app will
remember your device. If not previously paired, open the app
and follow the steps in section 2.0 to pair the app with the GT1.
2

14 15
3.1 Set up and pair the GT1 with the SkyCaddie Mobile app
Open the SkyCaddie Mobile app and select the GT1 from the
list of Bluetooth devices (see section 2.0).
NOTE: The GT1 utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy. This means that
you will pair the GT1 via the SkyCaddie Mobile app, rather than
via the Settings menu on your smartphone.
3.2 Attach the SmartTags to your clubs
Installing your 14 feather weight SmartTags is easy. Simply
screw the tags into the hole at the end of the golf grip until
they are flush with the grip and fit snugly. Once flush, stop
and do not overtighten as this may damage your grip.
3.3 Add clubs to your bag
Prior to having the SkyCaddie Mobile app “learn” your
SmartTags, you need to setup your bag:
1. Open the “Clubs” section in the SkyCaddie Mobile
app by tapping on “Menu < Clubs (SmartTags)” on
the Home screen.
2. Tap on “Edit” to select the clubs you want to add to
your bag. Tap “Done” to finish.
3.4 Learning the SmartTags
In order to associate an individual SmartTag to a specific club, the
SkyCaddie Mobile app needs to “Learn” the SmartTag.
1. Open the “Clubs” section in the SkyCaddie Mobile app.
2. Pick up the club the app needs to learn and bring its
SmartTag into close proximity to the Read Area of your GT1.
3. In the SkyCaddie Mobile app, a new list will pop up from
which you will select the appropriate club. The club screen
will now show a green dot by the club’s name, indicating that
your club has been learned. Repeat this procedure for all
your SmartTags.
It should only take a few minutes to learn all of your SmartTags. You
will not need to repeat this process, unless you move a SmartTag to a
different club or if you replace it.
3.5 Re-Learn a SmartTag
The SmartTags are designed to be flexible, so they are not pre-labeled
for a specific club, so you can move any SmartTag to another club and
have the app re-learn each SmartTag as many times as you want. To
re-learn a SmartTag, attach it to the new club and repeat step 3.4.
4.0 ON-COURSE WITH GAMETRACKER SMARTTAGS
In order to have the best on-course experience with your SkyGolf
GameTracker, we recommend you follow these preferred-use steps:
1. Turn on the GT1
With a clear view of the sky, press the Power button to turn
on the SkyGolf GT1 at least 10 minutes prior to play. The
GPS Indicator will blink. It will turn solid green (usually in less
than one minute), indicating that the GT1 has locked onto
a GPS signal. Then, allow the GT1 to achieve its best
accuracy for about 10 minutes before the next step.
2. Start a new round with the SkyCaddie Mobile app
Open the SkyCaddie Mobile app and pair it with your GT1. If
4

recorded shot is sent to the SkyGolf 360 Cloud in real time.
Anytime you are out of range, your tracked shots are stored on
your GT1. The next time you are within range of your
smartphone with the SkyCaddie Mobile app open, the data will
be transferred automatically.
B. “Black Box” mode:
After starting your round, you can leave your smartphone in
your bag or put it away, while collecting shot data with your
SmartTags. Each time your GT1 gets into range of your
smartphone, it will automatically transfer the collected shot data
to the open SkyCaddie Mobile app and the app will move your
data to the SkyGolf 360 Cloud.
NOTE: The Real Time mode and the Black Box mode can
be used interchangeably during a round. Alternatively, you
can wait until the end of a round to move all the shots
collected in Black Box mode to the Cloud.
4.1 Recording a shot
In the SkyGolf GameTracker system any shot consists of two marks.
To record a shot, mark:
1) the location from where you hit your ball
AND
2) the location where your ball came to rest
To record a shot at the location from where
you will make the shot, simply move the
SmartTag in the grip of the club you will use
into close proximity (approximately 1 inch)
17
4
you have already paired the GT1, your smartphone will
remember the device and connect automatically.
3. Select the course you’re going to play
a. Tap on the “Play Golf” button on the app’s Home screen.
The app will automatically find the course(s) nearest you if
you have locked onto a GPS signal.
b. Select the course name and set your round options.
c. Tap on the “Start Round” button to begin. This last step is
very important! If you do not “Start” a round in this
manner, the data you collect during your round may not be
accurately associated with the correct course or holes.
After “Starting” a round, you can operate the GameTracker system in
either of two modes, depending upon your preferences:
A. Full-interactive or “Real Time” mode:
Using the full-featured Mobile Rangefinder App, now with
much improved accuracy due to the GT1, you can not only get
all the distances you need, but you can also see your shots
recorded and displayed on the HD course maps while you play.
Should you miss a shot, it is easy to edit during your round and
to add a shot without returning to the spot of that shot.
This mode also allows you to easily “pinpoint” your target, get
the right distance, select your club, and later compare how
accurate you are in executing your shot against your selected
target for the most accurate and most-meaningful performance
stats available.
As long as your GT1 is within range of your smartphone, each

to the Read Area of the GT1. The GT1 will vibrate and beep once, and
the Bluetooth/SmartTag Read Indicator will blink for 30 seconds to
confirm that the SmartTag was scanned successfully. To record the end
of a shot, mark the origin of the second shot (the destination of the first
shot) with the SmartTag on the club you’ll use for your second shot.
Example: Recording a Tee Shot:
1. At the location of your shot, scan the SmartTag of the club you’ll use
on the tee box (Typically, this will be a Driver.)
2. At the resulting location of the tee shot, scan the SmartTag on the
club you will use for your next shot. Repeat this process until you
get to the green. If you prefer to only record your tee shots, or just
some shots, rather than all shots, you can finish marking the shot(s)
where your ball came to rest by using the Smart Divot Tool included
with your set of SmartTags (also see section 4.2).
NOTE: You can use the SmartTag on your putter to mark the end
of your approach shot, however your putts will not be tracked.
4.2 GameTracker Divot Tool with SmartTag
The GameTracker Divot Tool has a generic SmartTag
embedded in its top. In addition to fixing divots, you can also
use this Smart Divot Tool to record a shot. Simply touch the
glossy side of the Divot Tool to the Tag/Read Area of your GT1
to register a mark. For this tracked shot, “- -”will be shown in
the club box, rather than the abbreviation for a club.
NOTE: The back (or metal) side of the Smart Divot Tool
cannot be read by the GT1.
18 19
Following are a few ways in which you could use the Divot Tool:
• Mark a punch shot. For example, if you intend to hit a
punch shot with your 4-iron (instead of a full shot), record the
shot with the Smart Divot Tool (instead of the 4-iron), so the
distance isn’t included in your 4-iron averages.
• End a shot. If you only want to track your Driving Distance,
record the ending location of your tee shot with the Smart Divot
Tool. (Also see section 4.1.)
Of course you can associate the SmartTag in the Divot Tool with any
club that doesn’t already have a SmartTag installed on it:
1. Open the “Clubs” section in the SkyCaddie Mobile app.
2. Select “Add Club” and follow the onscreen instructions.
NOTE: To “re-learn” the SmartTag in the Divot Tool, follow
step 3.5 in this Guide.
4.3 Completing a hole
There are two ways to complete tracking your shots on a hole:
A. In the SkyCaddie Mobile app, tap the Hole Selector, then
tap on the next hole number to advance to the next hole.
OR
B. In the SkyCaddie Mobile app, tap on the Enter Score icon
and enter or confirm your score. Then, tap “Done.” This will
automatically advance you to the next hole.
NOTE: As soon as you record a shot on the next hole, you will
not be able to edit a mark (or shot) on the previous hole.
4
4

NOTE: Conform to USGA and R&A rulings, you must make
your real-time edits in the app before you change holes. Once
you move on to the next hole, you will not be able to access the
previous hole until after you have completed of your round.
5.1 Moving or editing a shot to a different location on-screen
To move or edit a shot, simply drag the recorded location displayed on
the screen to a different location with your finger.
5.2 Changing clubs
In the event you tag the wrong club, you can easily change it in the
SkyCaddie Mobile app:
1. Tap on the shot (indicated by a red dot) you want to change.
2. Tap on “Edit” in the Edit Shot Menu.
3. On the Edit Shot screen, tap on the “Club” row and select
the desired club.
4. Tap “Done” to save.
5.3 Moving a shot to a different hole
Should you record a shot on the wrong hole, you can easily change it
in the SkyCaddie Mobile app:
1. Tap the shot (indicated by a red dot) you want to change.
2. Tap on “Edit” in the Edit Shot menu.
3. On the Edit Shot screen, tap the “Hole” row and select the
desired hole.
4. Tap “Done” to save.
20 21
5
4.4 Completing a round
It is important to complete tracking on a round in order to preserve
the data. Here are two ways to do it:
A. 1. On hole 18 (or at any point you have finished play for a
round), tap the “In-Round menu” (the “More” icon ) in
the SkyCaddie Mobile app.
2. Tap “End Round” and either save or delete the round.
OR
B. 1. On hole 18 (or at any point you have finished play for a
round) in the SkyCaddie Mobile app, tap the Enter Score
icon , and enter or confirm your score.
2. Tap “Done.” The app will advance to the Round Summary
screen.
NOTES: If, for some reason, you have lost or do not have a GPS
connection at the time of recording a shot, the GT1 will beep three
times and the GPS LED will blink three times.
If you record a shot and you are not within Bluetooth range of your
smartphone, your GT1 will save that shot until the next time it re-
establishes its Bluetooth connection with the SkyCaddie Mobile
app on your smartphone.
5.0 EDIT, DELETE OR ADD SHOTS IN THE APP
The SkyCaddie Mobile app contains easy and intuitive editing tools to
change the club used, to add a shot that was missed, to change the
location of the shot, or to move a shot recorded on the wrong hole.
5
4

5.4 How to add a previous shot
In the event you forget to record a shot, you can easily add a previous
shot in the SkyCaddie Mobile app:
1. Tap and hold the origin of the shot (indicated by a red dot)
which immediately followed the shot you missed for
approximately 1 second.
2. Drag it back to the desired on-screen location with your finger
and then lift up. The Club Grid will open automatically.
3. Select the desired club for the missed shot and the Club Grid
will close.
5.5 How to add a future shot
To add a future shot:
1. Tap and hold your on-screen location (either a blue dot or an
image of GT1) for approximately 1 second.
2. Drag the future shot (indicated by a large blue dot) to the
desired on-screen location with your finger and let go. The
Club Grid will open automatically.
3. Select the desired club and the Club Grid will close.
HELPFUL TIPS AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
• Always wear the GT1 on your belt or affixed to your golf bag with a
clear view of the sky. In this way you’ll ensure the highest GPS-
accuracy possible and you can keep your smart phone on the golf
cart or in your pocket.
• Compatibility of your GT1 varies per smartphone, its operating system
and display capabilities. To view a list of system requirements and
compatible devices, go to www.SkyGolf.com/FAQ
• Use your GT1 on any course with HoleVueTM (indicated online by the
HoleVue icon) in SkyGolf’s unmatched, world-wide library of ground-
verified and error-corrected golf courses.
• While GT1 is designed for typical golf conditions, like most electronic
devices it is not fully waterproof. Take care not to expose your GT1
to water to avoid damage. Do not attempt to dry your GT1 with an
external heat source, such as a microwave oven or hair dryer. GT1
devices that are damaged as a result of exposure to liquids are
generally not serviceable.
• Don’t expose your GT1 to extreme temperatures. Extreme hot or cold
conditions may affect performance.
• Don’t drop your GT1, or hit it with your golf club or golf ball.
• Should your smartphone’s battery not last your round of golf, don’t
worry! You can continue tracking shots, because the GT1 will
automatically store up to 200 rounds until it has an opportunity to
upload the captured data to the SkyGolf 360 Cloud via your paired
smartphone when it has been recharged.
