MODEL 31009 SOLAR DUAL POWER CUBE ALARM CLOCK
HYBRID TECHNOLOGY
Thank you for your purchase of this quality hybrid powered clock. Your clock operates
using its advanced hybrid power system that automatically switches between solar and
battery power depending on the lighting conditions. The advantages of using a hybrid
power system are that it is more environmentally friendly and will extend normal battery
life to 4-5 years.

TO SET THE CLOCK
1. Slide the power on/off switch to the ON position.
2. Press the reset button. To do this, use a pin to push through the hole.
The clock will display 9:00.
Note: To save you from having to reset the clock for DST (daylight-saving time) take the
following actions before setting the clock. DST starts on the second Sunday in March
and ends on the first Sunday in November. If you are setting the clock during this time
please make sure the DST symbol * is showing on the display before proceeding to step
3.
To do this, side the mode switch (DATE/ALARM/LOCK/TIME) to the lock position.
Press the DST/2NDTIME/YEAR button once to turn ON or OFF DST. When DST is “ON”
the DST symbol * will appear on the display to indicate daylight-saving time. The clock
time will advance by one hour.
3. Slide the mode switch to the DATE position.
4. Press and hold down the YEAR button to advance to the correct year.
5. Press and hold down the DATE button to advance the correct date.
6. Press and hold down the MONTH button to advance the correct month.
7. Slide the mode switch to the TIME position.
8. Press and hold down the HOUR button to advance to the correct hour. Make sure
the AM/PM is set correctly. The PM indicator will appear on the display for PM time only.
9. Press and hold down the MINUTE button to advance the correct minute.

Your clock also has the feature of storing a second time zone. You could display the
time at a holiday destination, a relative abroad, or business contact. To set this time
press the DST/2NDTIME/YEAR button to advance the hour digit in the second time zone
(DT). Make sure the “PM” indicator will appear on the display for PM time only.
10. Slide the mode switch to the LOCK position to complete the time setting.
TO SET THE ALARM TIME
1. Slide the mode switch to theALARM position.
2. Press and hold the HOUR button to advance the desired hour. A “PM” indicator will
appear on the display for PM time only.
3. Press and hold the MINUTE button to advance the desired minute.
4. Slide the mode switch to the LOCK position to complete the alarm time setting.
ACTIVATING THE ALARM AND SNOOZE
1. Move the alarm ON/OFF switch to ON position. The alarm symbol ( ) will appear
on the display.
2. The alarm will activate at the preset time and sound for up to 60 seconds.
3. When the alarm activates you may press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button and the alarm
will stop and activate again after approximately five (5) minutes. The symbol ( ) will
flash. This snooze feature may be repeated over and over again.
4. To fully shut off the alarm, move the alarm ON/OFF switch OFF position.
DST (DAYLIGHT-SAVING TIME)
Press the DST/2NDTIME/YEAR button once to turn ON/OFF the DST
(DAYLIGHT-SAVING TIME). The DST symbol * will appear on the display to indicate
summer time. Turning this feature ON advances the time by one hour. At the end of
DST simply press the button again and the time will move back one hour.
DISPLAY MODES
Press the ALARM/2ND TIME/CALENDAR button to select between:
-2nd time zone display - a DT icon will appear on the display.
-Calendar display - an M&D icon will appear on the display.
-Alarm time display - the word “ALARM” will appear on the display.
LIGHT
Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT or the LIGHT button to light up the display.
NOTE: Frequent use of the light will drain the batteries more quickly.
DUAL POWER SUPPLY –SOLAR OR BATTERY
This clock is designed to operate using two 1.5V alkaline batteries & solar power.
Battery life is approximately 4-5 years if the clock is used in light at least 200 lux for 10
hours per day. Batteries are included with this clock.

If you are not going to use the product for a prolonged period, switch the Power ON/OFF
switch to the OFF position to save battery life.
NOTE: You will need to reset and set the clock again after using this feature.
CHANGING THE BATTERIES
Slide the power ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. Open the battery cover located at
the back of the clock. Insert two “AA” alkaline batteries into the battery compartment as
indicated by the polarity markings. Follow the instructions to set the clock
NOTE: Do not mix new and old batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or
rechargeable (nickel cadmium) batteries. Please dispose of old batteries in a
reasonable manner.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem: No display when the power is switched ON
Solution 1: Check that the batteries are new and installed correctly.
Solution 2: Press the reset button.
Problem: The power is ON and the display is fading
Solution: Turn the power switch OFF and replace the batteries.
MAINTENANCE
A soft cloth may be used to clean your clock. Do not use any corrosive cleaner or
chemical solutions on the clock. Keep the clock clean and dry to avoid any problems.
TWO YEAR WARRANTY (U.S.A.)
This product is under warranty for two years from the date of the consumer purchase at
Target Stores against defects on material and workmanship. During this period such
defects will be repaired, or the product will be replaced at Equity’s option, without charge.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse or negligence. ALL IMPLIED
WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR
FITNESS AND MERCHANTABILITY, ARE LIMITED IN DURATION TO A PERIOD
ENDING FROM ONE YEAR FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. Some states do not allow
limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts so the above limitation may not apply to
you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights
which vary from state to state.

Disposal of electrical & electronic equipment
Do not dispose of this product with household waste. For proper treatment of
recovery and recycling, please take this product the appropriate collection point. If you
are unsure of where this is, contact your local authority. Improper disposal may be
harmful to the environment.
