previously programmed numbers, press the function button once when the
blinking yellow lamp turns green.
iii. Program the phone numbers (see Programming Mode) and press the function

iv.Wait for the green lamp to begin blinking once every two seconds to indicate
that the Soneco MC2 is ready for use.
v. Send an SOS alarm by SMS message by briefly pressing the function button.
vi.Turn off the Soneco MC2 by pressing the function button until all three indicator
lamps light at the same time. Then release the function button.
vii. Remember to charge the battery according to the instructions.
Charging the Battery:
Charge the battery by connecting the plug of the charger into the charging
connector of the Soneco MC2. If the Soneco MC2 is turned on, the yellow indicator
lamp blinks once every two seconds while the battery is being charged. If the
Soneco MC2 is turned off, the lamp blinks once every four seconds. The yellow
indicator lamp will begin blinking twice every two seconds when the battery is fully
charged. An empty battery normally requires two hours to become fully charged.
The battery can be charged during all the operating modes of the device, but the
indicator lamp does not blink to indicate charging during phone number
programming or startup.
You can charge the battery overnight, since overcharging is prevented.
NOTE! If the battery becomes fully discharged, it usually needs to be pre-
charged. Pre-charging of a fully discharged battery automatically begins when you
connect the charger to the Soneco MC2. The yellow indicator lamp blinks once
every four seconds during pre-charging. Pre-charging takes about an hour, after
which normal charging will automatically begin. If normal charging does not begin
after about an hour, disconnect the charger and then reconnect it to the Soneco

MC2. If normal charging still does not begin after an hour of pre-charging, contact
your dealer or an authorized service point.
Low Battery Warning:
If the battery charge drops to 20 % of full charge, the Soneco MC2 will indicate
this by rapidly blinking the yellow lamp five times in succession and emitting an
audible signal (bip). This will be repeated once a minute until the battery is
charged or becomes fully discharged. The device will also send a BATTERY 20%
SMS message to the first programmed number.
Startup:
Turn on the Soneco MC2 by pressing the function button until the yellow indicator
lamp begins blinking and an audible signal is emitted. Release the button and wait
for the green indicator lamp to light for a couple of seconds and then begin
blinking once every two seconds. The Soneco MC2 is now connected to the GSM
network.
If no phone numbers have been programmed into the Soneco MC2, see
Programming Mode.
If you wish to change previously programmed numbers, you can enter the number
programming mode by pressing the function button once while the green indicator
lamp is lit after startup.
Programming Mode:
When the Soneco MC2 is ready to receive a programming message, the yellow
and green lamps will blink by turn.
Program the Soneco MC2 to send an SOS alarm by SMS message to one or two
phone numbers. If one number is programmed, a message is sent to that number.
If two numbers are programmed, the message is sent to both numbers.
Phone numbers are programmed into the Soneco MC2 by sending them to the
device by SMS message in the format ”<<<” number ”>>>”, without spaces:
<<<+358XXXXXXX;+358XXXXXXX>>>
Note! Include all the above characters (also <<< and >>>)!
Example: <<<+358414319220;+358414319221>>>
or <<<+358500677555>>>

The yellow lamp lights for about one second and the green lamp blinks when the
Soneco MC2 is receiving an SMS message and saving it in its memory. When the
numbers are saved the lamps begin to blink as they did before receiving the SMS
message. The phone numbers are programmed only once (unless they need to
be changed)!
After programming, press the function button once to enter the operating mode. If
the content of the SMS message was incorrect, the Soneco MC2 will give an error
indication (three audible signals and blinks of the red lamp) and return to the
programming mode.
Before beginning to use the Soneco MC2 you should send a test SMS message
to make sure the correct numbers are programmed into the device.
Operating Mode:
The Soneco MC2 automatically enters the operating mode after startup if no
numbers are being programmed, and when the function button is pressed after
numbers are programmed. The green lamp begins to blink once every two
seconds to indicate that the device is ready send an SOS alarm.
If the Soneco MC2 loses its connection to the GSM network, it emits three
consecutive audible signals and the green lamp begins to blink rapidly. Once the
connection is restored the device will automatically return to the normal operating
mode. If the device does not succeed in reconnecting within a few minutes, turn
the Soneco MC2 off and then back on again.
Sending an SOS Alarm:
Send an SOS alarm by briefly pressing the function button. This causes the
device to send an SOS alarm by SMS message to the programmed numbers. The
green light is lit while the message is being sent, after which the Soneco MC2 will
return to the operating mode.
If the Soneco MC2 emits three audible signals and the red lamp blinks three
times, one or both of the SMS messages were not sent successfully. You
can try to send the messages again in the operating mode.
Turning off the Soneco MC2:
Turn off the Soneco MC2 by pressing the function button until all three indicator
lamps are lit. The device will emit an audible signal and the lamps will remain lit
for about five seconds before the Soneco MC2 turns itself off.
