Vignetting
When using lens, the corners of the screen become darker
than the center. To reduce this phenomena (called vignetting),
dose the aperture by Ito 2stops.

OJ Focusing
When AF (Auto Focus) is selected, the camera focuses
automatically.
• Do not touch the rOlaling focusing ring while the camera is
focusing automatically.
•You cannot use the camera's direct manual focus function
with this lens. (Some cameras
do not have adirect manual
focus function. Ifyour camera has this function, this
restriction is explained in your camera's instruction manual in
the section on focusing).
•You
cannot use the camera's AF/MF button to control
AF/MF with this lens. (Some cameras do not have an AFt
MF button. If your camera has this button, this restriction
is explained in your camera's instruction manual in the
section on focusing).
In MF (Manual Focus) mode, focus by rotating the
focusing ring while looking through the viewfinder
etc.

Toswitch between AF (Auto Focus) and
MF (Manual Focus)
You can switch between Auto Focus and Manual Focus by
using the focus-mode switch on the lens. Be sure to set the
focusing mode switch (lever) on the camera 10 AF .
•For manual
fOCUSing, be sure to set the focus-mode switch on
the lens to MF. Rotating the focusing ring forcibly without
switching to MFmay damage the focusing ring.

eqUipped with an APS-C sized image sensor.

To attach the lens

1Remove the rear and front lens caps and the
camera body cap.
You can attach/detach the fronllens cap in two ways, (1)
and (2). When you attach/detach the lens cap with the lens
hood attached, use method (2).

While holding down the lens release button on the
camera, rotate
the lens counterclockwise until it stops,
then detach the lens.
Shooting at infinity in MF
The focusing mechanism turns slightly past infinily
to provide accurate focusing under various operating
temperatures. Check the image sharpness through the
viewfinder etc., especially when the lens is focused Ilear
infinity.
•This lens
is equipped with adistance encoder, which allows
more accurate measurement (ADI) when using an ADJ-
compatible flash.
•Depending
00 the lens mechanism, the focal length may
change with any change of the shooting distance. The focal
length assumes the lens is focused at infinity.

cannot use on 35mm-format cameras.

• When carrying acamera with the lens attached, always firmly
hold
both the camera and the lens.
•
Do not hold the camera by the part of the lens that protrudes
when focusing.
• When using this lens with an £-mount camera, attach a
separately sold Mount Adaptor. Do not attach the lens directly
10 the E-mount camera or you may damage both.
Precautionsfor flash use
When using abuilt-in camera flash, always remove the lens
hood and shoot at least 1m (3.3 feet) away from your subject.
With certain combinations of lens and flash, the lens may
partially block the light
of the flash, resulting in ashadow at
the bottom of the picture

Notes on use
Notice for the customers in the

Authorized Representative for EMC and product safety is
Sony Deutschland GmbH, Hedelfinger Strasse 61, 70327
Stuttgart, Germany. For any service or guarantee mailers
please refer to the addresses given in separate service or
guaranteedocuments.
•Do not leave the lens exposed to the sun or abright light
source. Internal malfunction of the camera body and lens,
or a fire may result due to the effect of light focusing. If
circumstances necessitate leaving the lens in sunlight, be sure
to attach the lens caps.
• Be careful not to subject the lens/teleconverter to mechanical
shock while attaching it.
• Always place the lens caps on the lens/teleconverter when
storing.
• Do not keep the lens/teleconverter in avery humid place for a
long period oftime to prevent mold.
• Do not touch the lens contacts. Ifdirt, etc., gets on the lens
contacts, it may interfere or prevent the sending and receiving
of signals between the lens and the camera, resulting in
operational malfunction.
Condensation
If your lens is brought directly from acold place to awarm
place, condensation may appear on the lens. To avoid thiS,
place the lens in aplastic bag or something similar. When
the air temperature inside the bag reaches the surrounding
temperature, take the lens out.
Cleaning the lens
• Do not touch the surface ofthe lens directly.
•Ifthe lens gets dirty, brush offdust with alens blower
and wipe with asoft, dean doth (Cleaning Cloth is
recommended).
•Do not use any organic solvent, such as thinner or benzine,to
dean the lens or the camera cone.
