■Installation

– highhumidity
– hightemperature
– excessivedust
– mechanicalvibration
– directsunlight
• Donotforcethepowercable.Itiskeyedtoprotectthedrive.
■Operation
• Donotmovethedrivewhenitisinuse.Doingsomaycausedata
erroranddamagetheopticalpick-up.
• Avoidexposingthedrivetosuddenchangesintemperatureas
condensationmayformonthelensinsidethedrive.Shouldthe
surroundingtemperaturesuddenlyrisewhilethedriveisturned
on,stopusingthedriveandleavethepoweronatleastonehour
beforeoperatingitorturningitoff.Operatingthedrive
immediatelyafterasuddenincreaseintemperaturemayresultina
malfunction.
■Transportation
• Closethediscdrawerbeforemovingthedrive.
• Keeptheoriginalpackingmaterials.Whenyouneedtoshipthe
drivetoanotherlocation,repackingitinitsoriginalcontainerwill
helpyoutransportitsafely.

CD-ROMdriveunitintoyourpersonalcomputerusingtheIDE
HostAdaptor(A TA-Compliant).
ToconnecttheCDU711directl ytothePC’ sIDEpor t,consulty our
PCmanufacturerforinstruction.
Preparation
Youneedthef ollo wingpar tsandtools(thesearenotsuppliedwith
thedrive):
• Aflat-bladescrewdriver
• Fourscrews3mmindiameterand6mminlength.
• Twomountingrailsifyourcomputerhasmountingtracks.
Unplugthecomputeranddisconnectthecablesattachedtotheback
togiveyourselfmoreroomtowork.Donotturnonthepowerofthe
computerbeforecompletingtheentireinstallationprocess.

setajumperonCSEL. WhentheCSELsignaloftheinterface
connectorissetlo w,thedriveisdesignatedasDrive0. Whenthe
CSELissethigh,thedriveisdesignatedasDrive1.

Therefore,priortoloadingtheinstallationdiskette,makesurethat
theMSCDEXisintheDOSdirectoryofyourharddiskdrive
(C:\DOS). AlthoughMSCDEXisinc ludedinthemostup-to-date
MS-DOS(ver .6.2), youma yneedtoobtainthesoftwarefr omy our
PCdealerifyoudonothaveit.
TheinstallerwillautomaticallyloadMSCDEXviathe
AUTOEXEC.B ATfileandinstallstheDe viceDriverviathe
CONFIG.SYSfile,ifMSCDEXisalreadyinDriveC:\DOS.
How to Install
