Cautions
•This unit is designed for negative ground 12 V
DC operation only.
•Do not get the leads under a screw, or caught
in moving parts (e.g. seat railing).
•Before making connections, turn the car
ignition off to avoid short circuits.
•Connect the yellow and red power input leads
only after all other leads have been connected.
•Run all ground leads to a common ground
point.
•Be sure to insulate any loose unconnected
leads with electrical tape for safety.
•The use of optical instruments with this
product will increase eye hazard.
Notes on the power supply lead (yellow)
•When connecting this unit in combination with
other stereo components, the connected car
circuit’s rating must be higher than the sum of
each component’s fuse.
•When no car circuits are rated high enough,
connect the unit directly to the battery.
Parts Iist (1)
•The numbers in the list are keyed to those in
the instructions.
•The bracket 1and the protection collar 3are
attached to the unit before shipping. Before
mounting the unit, use the release keys 5to
remove the bracket 1and the protection collar
3from the unit. For details, see “Removing
the protection collar and the bracket (4)” on
the reverse side of the sheet.
•Keep the release keys 5for future use as
they are also necessary if you remove the
unit from your car.
Caution
Handle the bracket 1carefully to avoid injuring
your fingers.
Note
Bef ore installing, make sure t hat the cat ches on
bot h sides of the bracket 1are bent inw ards 2 mm
(3/32 in). If the cat ches are straight or bent out w ards,
the unit w ill not be installed securely and may spring
out .

Precauciones
•Esta unidad ha sido diseñada para alimentarse
sólo con cc de 12 V de masa negativa.
•No coloque los cables debajo de ningún
tornillo, ni los aprisione con partes móviles
(p.ej. los raíles del asiento).
•Antes de realizar las conexiones, desactive el
encendido del automóvil para evitar
cortocircuitos.
•Conecte los cables de entrada de alimentación
amarillo y rojo solamente después de haber
conectado los demás.

Notas sobre el cable de suministro de

•Cuando conecte esta unidad en combinación

nominal del circuito conectado del automóvil
debe ser superior a la suma del fusible de cada
componente.
•Si no hay circuitos del automóvil con
capacidad nominal suficientemente alta,
conecte la unidad directamente a la batería.

•La unidad se comercializa con el soporte 1y
el marco de protección 3instalados. Antes de
montarla, utilice las llaves de liberación 5
para extraer el soporte 1y el marco de

•Conserve las llaves de liberación 5para
utilizarlas en el futuro, ya que también las
necesitará si retira la unidad del automóvil.
Precaución
Tenga mucho cuidado al manipular el soporte

Nota
Ant es de instalar la unidad, compruebe que los
enganches de ambos lados del soporte 1están
doblados hacia adentro 2 mm. Si no lo están o están
doblados hacia af uera, la unidad no se instalará
correctamente y puede salt ar.

Notas sobre los cables de control y de fuente de
alimentación
•El cable de control de la ant ena motorizada (azul)
suministrará cc de + 12 V cuando conecte la
aliment ación del sint onizador.
•Si el automóvil dispone de una ant ena de FM /AM
incorporada en el crist al t rasero o lat eral, conecte
el cable de cont rol de ant ena motorizada (azul) o
el cable de entrada de alimentación auxiliar (rojo)
al terminal de alimentación del amplificador de
ant ena existente. Para obtener más información,
consult e a su proveedor.
•Con est a unidad no es posible utilizar una antena
mot orizada sin caja de relé.
Conexión para protección de la memoria
Si conecta el conductor de entrada amarillo, el
circuit o de la memoria recibirá siempre
aliment ación, aunque ponga la llave de encendido
en la posición OFF.
Notas sobre la conexión de los altavoces
•Ant es de conectar los altavoces, desconecte la
aliment ación de la unidad.
• Ut ilice alt avoces con una impedancia de 4 a 8 Ω
con la capacidad de potencia adecuada para evit ar
que se dañen.
•No conecte los terminales de alt avoz al chasis del
aut omóvil, ni conecte los t erminales del altavoz
derecho con los del izquierdo.
•No conecte el cable de t oma a t ierra de est a
unidad al terminal negat ivo (–) del alt avoz.
•No int ent e conectar los altavoces en paralelo.
•Conecte solamente altavoces pasivos. Si conecta
alt avoces activos (con amplif icadores incorporados)
a los terminales de altavoz, puede dañar la unidad.
•Para evitar fallos de f uncionamiento, no ut ilice los
cables de altavoz incorporados instalados en el
aut omóvil si su unidad comparte un cable negativo
común (–) para los alt avoces derecho e izquierdo.
•No conecte los cables de altavoz de la unidad ent re
sí.
Nota sobre la conexión
Si el alt avoz y el amplificador no están conectados
correctamente, aparecerá “ FAILURE” en la pantalla.
Si es así, compruebe la conexión de ambos
dispositivos.
Notes on the control and pow er supply leads
•The pow er ant enna cont rol lead (blue) supplies
+12 V DC when you t urn on the t uner.
•When your car has built -in FM /AM antenna in t he
rear/side glass, connect t he pow er ant enna cont rol
lead (blue) or the accessory power input lead (red)
to t he power terminal of t he existing ant enna
booster. For details, consult your dealer.
• Apow er ant enna wit hout relay box cannot be
used w ith this unit.
M emory hold connection
When the yellow power input lead is connected,
pow er w ill always be supplied to the memory circuit
even when t he ignition key is t urned off.
Notes on speaker connection
•Bef ore connecting t he speakers, turn t he unit of f .
• Use speakers w it h an impedance of 4 t o 8 ohms,
and w it h adequate power handling capacit ies to
avoid its damage.
•Do not connect t he speaker t erminals to the car
chassis, or connect the t erminals of t he right
speakers w it h those of t he left speaker.
•Do not connect t he ground lead of this unit t o t he
negat ive (–) terminal of the speaker.
•Do not att empt t o connect t he speakers in parallel.
•Connect only passive speakers. Connect ing active
speakers (w it h built-in amplif iers) t o t he speaker
terminals may damage the unit .
•To avoid a malf unction, do not use the built-in
speaker leads installed in your car if t he unit shares
a common negat ive (–) lead for t he right and left
speakers.
•Do not connect t he unit’s speaker leads t o each
ot her.
Note on connection
If speaker and amplifier are not connected correctly,
“ FAILURE” appears in t he display. In t his case, make
sure the speaker and amplifier are connected
correctly.

Precaut ions
•Choose the installation location carefully so
that the unit will not interfere with normal
driving operations.
•Avoid installing the unit in areas subject to
dust, dirt, excessive vibration, or high
temperatures, such as in direct sunlight or
near heater ducts.
•Use only the supplied mounting hardware for
a safe and secure installation.
M ounting angle adjust ment
Adjust the mounting angle to less than 45°.
Rem oving the prot ection collar
and t he bracket (4)
Before installing the unit, remove the
protection collar 3and the bracket 1from
the unit.
1Remove the protection collar 3.
1Engage the release keys 5together with
the protection collar 3.
2Pull out the release keys 5to remove the
protection collar 3.
2Remove the bracket 1.
1Insert both release keys 5together
between the unit and the bracket 1until
they click.
2Pull down the bracket 1, then pull up
the unit to separate.

Notes
•Bend t hese claw s outward for a t ight fit , if
necessary (5-2).
•Make sure that t he 4 catches on the prot ection
collar 3are properly engaged in t he slot s of t he
unit (5-3).

Japanese car (6)
You may not be able to install this unit in some
makes of Japanese cars. In such a case, consult
your Sony dealer.
Note
To prevent malfunction, inst all only w ith the
supplied screw s 2.

Before installing the unit, detach the front
panel.
7-A To detach
Before detaching the front panel, be sure to
press (OFF). Press , then pull it off towards
you.
7-B To at t ach
Attach part Aof the front panel to part Bof the
unit as illustrated and push the left side into
position until it clicks.
Warning w hen installing in a car
w ithout ACC (accessory)

After turning off t he ignit ion, be sure to
press and hold (OFF) on t he unit unt il the
display disappears.
Otherwise, the display does not turn off and this
causes battery drain.
RESET button
When the installation and connections are
completed, be sure to press the RESET button
with a ball-point pen, etc., after detaching the
front panel.
