Introduction
With the mobile camera CommuniCam™, you can
take pictures, view them in your phone’s display and
send them as e-mail attachments or using MMS
(Multimedia Message Service). To do this, you need a
subscription that supports these services. Please check
with your network operator or service provider.
The camera supports 24-bit colours, which means
16 million colours. The quality of a picture depends on
the screen on which the picture is shown. For example,
the quality of a picture is higher on a computer screen
than in the phone’s display.
You can use a picture as a screen saver or as a
background in your phone’s display, or save it together
with a contact in your phone book so that the picture
appears when that person calls.
In Europe, you can send your pictures to a
web album at Sony Style Imaging.

Note: The camera works with Sony Ericsson mobile
phones T68i, T68ie and T300. To be able to use all
its functions, you must use a Sony Ericsson T300.
If you cannot use a particular function with a
Sony Ericsson T68i or T68ie, it is mentioned in this

Preparations
E-mail
Before you can send pictures using e-mail,
you need to:
• Activate your data account. See the User’s Guide for
your phone. The data account may be preconfigured
when you buy your phone.
• Activate your e-mail account in your phone. There are
different options:
• Your phone may be preconfigured with your
network operator’s specific settings when you buy
the phone.
• Activate the e-mail account manually.
See the User’s Guide for your phone. Contact your
network operator or service provider for
settings information.
• Visit www.sonyericsson.com/ and use the e-mail
configurator. Contact your network operator or
service provider for settings information.
MMS
• Before you can send pictures using MMS, you need to
enter your service centre number and enter WAP
settings in your phone. Your network operator or
service provider provides you with the settings. See
also the User’s Guide for your phone.
• Both the receiver’s network and phone must support
MMS to ensure that the receiver can receive and show
your pictures.
Attaching the camera
Attach your CommuniCam™ to your phone as shown
in figure 1.
Figure 4 shows how to detach the camera from
the phone.
If the phone is on, you automatically enter the
CommuniCam menu when you attach the camera.
You can also enter the CommuniCam menu by
pressing the shutter release on the camera when the
phone is in standby mode, or by scrolling to
Fun & Games, YES, CommuniCam, YES.

Taking pictures
Your CommuniCam™ gives the best results:
• At a distance of 0.4 metres or more.
• If you avoid subjects with sharp contrasts between
light and dark.
• If you keep the camera still and at a right angle when
taking the picture.
• In good lighting conditions.
The camera has a digital zoom. Move the phone’s
joystick sideways to zoom in or out while viewing the
subject in the phone’s display.
Note: The zoom function can only be used with the
Sony Ericsson mobile phone T300.
If you want to change picture size, you must do so
before taking the picture. See “Picture size” on
page 11.
You can add special effects to a picture. If you want to
use an effect, you must do so before taking the picture.
See “Effects” on page 11.
To take a picture
1. When the CommuniCam menu is displayed, select
Take pictures, YES.
2. Hold the phone and the camera as shown in figure 5, 6
or 7. You can see the subject in the phone’s display. In
the bottom left corner of the display, you can see the
picture size. In the bottom right corner, you can see
how many pictures you have taken. See figure 8.
If you prefer, you can use the camera’s viewfinder.
Keep your subject within the lines in the viewfinder.
3. Take the picture by pressing the shutter release or YES
or the joystick.
4. You get a preview of the picture in the display. To
accept the picture, press YES.
5. A list of options appears:
•Save – save the picture in the camera to send the
picture later. See “Saving a picture in the camera” on
page 10.
•Send – see “Sending a picture immediately” on
page 10.
•Rotate right – press YES to rotate the picture to the
right. See figure 9. Accept by pressing YES.
•Rotate left – press YES to rotate the picture to the left.

Note: A picture is sent or saved as it is shown in the
display. If you want to rotate the picture, you must do
so before saving or sending it.
Sending a picture immediately
When you accept a picture that you have taken, select
Send from the list of options and press YES
. Select the
transfer method – Via MMS or Via E-mail – and press
YES. See the User’s Guide for your phone on how to
send e-mail messages or multimedia messages.
When the picture has been sent, you get back to the
list of options. To keep the picture in your camera,
select Save.
Saving a picture in the camera
Select Save from the list of options and press YES to
save the picture in the camera.
When you have saved the picture, the camera
returns to viewfinder mode, so that you can take
another picture.
If you do not want to take another picture, press NO
to exit viewfinder mode and save battery power.
The camera automatically exits viewfinder mode
after five minutes of inactivity.
If Camera memory full appears when you try to save a
picture, you cannot save any more pictures until you
have deleted some or moved them to the phone. See
Delete picture or Move to phone in “Viewing pictures
saved in the camera” on page 10
Viewing pictures saved in the camera
You can view the pictures you have saved in the
camera by scrolling to Fun & Games, YES,
CommuniCam, YES, View pictures, YES, select a picture
from the list, YES.
Options
When a picture is displayed, press to:
•Send the picture as an e-mail attachment or
using MMS.
•GetPicture info – press YES to get information such as
the name, size and file type of the picture.
•Copy to phone – press YES to copy the picture to the
phone so that it is saved both in the camera and in the
phone under My pictures. See also “Pictures saved in
the phone” on page 13.
•Move to phone – press YES to move the picture to
My pictures in the phone and delete it from the camera.

•Delete picture – press YES to delete the picture from
the camera.
•Delete all – press YES to delete all pictures from
the camera.
Settings
Picture size
You can choose between:
• Extra large (XL (640x480))
• Large (L (320x240))
• Medium (M (160x120))
• Small (S (80x60))
If you select a smaller picture size, you can save more
pictures before the camera memory becomes full. You
cannot change the picture size for a picture that you
have already taken.
To set the picture size
1. When the CommuniCam menu is displayed, select
Options, YES, Picture size, YES.
You can also press when the camera is in
viewfinder mode. Select Picture size, YES.
2. Select a picture size, YES.
3. Press NO to return to the CommuniCam menu.
The picture size applies until you select another
picture size.
White balance
White balance is a function for optimizing the colours
in a picture. We recommend that you keep the white
balance on, except in cases where you want to achieve
a special effect.
To turn white balance on or off
1. When the CommuniCam menu is displayed, select
Options, YES, White balance, YES.
You can also press when the camera is in
viewfinder mode. Select White balance, YES,
2. Select On or Off, YES.
3. Press NO return to the CommuniCam menu.
Effects
You can add an effect to a picture, for example a
decorative border. You can choose from ten
different effects.
Note: Effects can only be used with the Sony Ericsson
mobile phone T300.

To add an effect
1. When the CommuniCam menu is displayed, select
Options, YES, Effect, YES.
You can also press when the camera is in
viewfinder mode. Select Effect, YES.
2. Select an effect, YES.
3. Press NO to return to the CommuniCam menu.
The effect applies until you select another effect or
turn the effect off by selecting No effect, YES.
Note: You must select an effect before you take a
picture. You will see the effect in the phone’s display.
When you are satisfied with both the subject and the
effect, take the picture.
Display Contrast
The quality of the picture is higher on a computer
screen than in the phone’s display. To adjust the
appearance of a picture in the phone, you can change
the contrast of the phone’s display.
To change the contrast of the phone’s display
1. Scroll to Settings, YES, Display, YES, Contrast, YES.
2. Increase the contrast by pressing , YES. Decrease the
contrast by pressing , YES.

Pictures saved in the phone
You can copy or move a picture to the phone so
that you can access the picture when the camera is
not attached.
To do this, scroll to Fun & Games, YES,
CommuniCam, YES, View pictures, YES, select the
picture from the list, YES.
When the picture is displayed, press and select
Copy to phone or Move to phone, YES. The picture is
saved under My pictures.
Viewing pictures saved in the phone
If you have saved pictures in your phone, you can view
them by scrolling to Fun & Games, YES, My pictures,
YES, select a picture, YES.
You can use a picture:
• As a screen saver
• As a background
• Together with a contact in the phone book
Refer to the User’s Guide for your phone.
Sending pictures saved in the phone
If you have saved pictures in the phone, you can:
• Send up to five pictures as e-mail attachments.
(From the camera you can only send one picture.)
• Send several pictures in a multimedia message.
(From the camera you can only send one picture.)
• Send pictures using your phone’s infrared port. To send
pictures, you must detach the camera from the phone.
• Send pictures using Bluetooth wireless technology if
your phone supports this technology.

provided by a carrier independent from Sony Ericsson,

Changes or modifications to this CommuniCam™ not
expressly approved by Sony Ericsson may void the
user’s authority to operate the equipment.
Attach this CommuniCam™ only to Ericsson or
Sony Ericsson mobile phones intended for use with
this product.

Introducción
Con la cámara móvil CommuniCam™ puede hacer
fotografías, verlas en la pantalla del teléfono y
enviarlas como archivos adjuntos en mensajes de
correo electrónico o utilizando el servicio MMS
(Servicio de envío de mensajes multimedia). Para ello,
debe tener una suscripción que permita estos servicios.
Compruébelo con el operador de la red o el proveedor
de servicios.
La cámara admite colores de 24 bits, lo que equivale
a 16 millones de colores. La calidad de una fotografía
depende de la pantalla en la que se muestre. Por
ejemplo, la calidad de una fotografía es mayor en la
pantalla de un ordenador que en la pantalla
del teléfono.
Puede utilizar una fotografía como salvapantallas o
imagen de fondo de la pantalla del teléfono, o asociarla
con algún contacto de la agenda para que aparezca
cada vez que la persona en cuestión llame.
En Europa, puede enviar sus fotografías a un
álbum Web de Sony Style Imaging.

Nota: La cámara funciona con los teléfonos móviles

Preparativos
Correo electrónico
Antes de poder enviar fotografías mediante el correo
electrónico, debe:
• Activar la cuenta de datos. Consulte la guía del usuario
de su teléfono. La cuenta de datos puede estar ya
configurada cuando compre el teléfono.
• Activar el correo electrónico del teléfono.
Hay varias opciones:
• El teléfono puede estar ya configurado con los

MMS

• La red y el teléfono del destinatario deben ser
compatibles con MMS para garantizar que el
destinatario pueda recibir y ver sus fotografías.
Conexión de la cámara
Conecte la CommuniCam™ al teléfono como se

Hacer fotografías
La CommuniCam™ le proporciona los mejores
resultados:
• A una distancia de 0,4 metros o más.
• Si evita fotografiar escenas con contrastes marcados
entre claros y oscuros.
• Si mantiene la cámara quieta y con un ángulo correcto
al realizar la fotografía.
• Con buenas condiciones de luminosidad.
La cámara tiene un zoom digital. Mueva el joystick
hacia los lados para ampliar o reducir la imagen
mientras ve la escena en la pantalla del teléfono.
Nota: La función de zoom sólo se puede utilizar con el
teléfono móvil T300 de Sony Ericsson.
Si desea cambiar el tamaño de la fotografía, debe
hacerlo antes de tomar la instantánea. Vea “Tamaño de
la imagen” en la página 20.
Puede añadir efectos especiales a una fotografía. Si
desea utilizar un efecto, debe hacerlo antes de tomar la

Para tomar una instantánea:
1. Cuando se muestre el menú CommuniCam, seleccione
Tomar imágenes, YES.
2. Coja el teléfono y la cámara como se muestra en las
ilustraciones 5, 6 o 7. Puede ver la escena en la pantalla
del teléfono. En la esquina inferior izquierda de la
pantalla puede ver el tamaño de la fotografía. En la
esquina inferior derecha aparece el número de
fotografías que ha realizado. Vea la ilustración 8.
Si lo prefiere, puede utilizar el visor de la cámara.
Mantenga la escena dentro de las líneas del visor.
3. Tome la instantánea pulsando el disparador, YES o
el joystick.
4. Aparece una vista previa de la fotografía en la pantalla.
Para aceptar la fotografía, pulse YES.
5. Aparece una lista de opciones:
•Guardar: guarda la fotografía en la cámara para
enviarla más tarde. Vea “Guardar una fotografía en la
cámara” en la página 19.
•Enviar: vea “Enviar una fotografía inmediatamente”
en la página 19.
•Rotar a Drcha: pulse YES para rotar la fotografía hacia
la derecha. Vea la ilustración 9. Confirme la acción
pulsando YES.
•Rotar a Izqda: pulse YES para rotar la fotografía hacia
la izquierda. Confirme la acción pulsando YES.
Nota: La imagen se envía o se guarda como se
muestra en la pantalla. Si desea girar una fotografía,
debe hacerlo antes de guardarla o enviarla.
Enviar una fotografía inmediatamente
Cuando acepte una fotografía que haya tomado,
seleccione Enviar de la lista de opciones y pulse YES
.
Seleccione el método de transferencia (Como MMS o
Como c. electr.) y pulse YES. Consulte la guía del
usuario del teléfono para saber cómo enviar mensajes
de correo electrónico o mensajes multimedia.
Cuando la fotografía se haya enviado, volverá a la
lista de opciones. Para guardar la fotografía en la
cámara, seleccione Guardar.
Guardar una fotografía en la cámara
Seleccione Guardar de la lista de opciones y pulse YES
para guardar la fotografía en la cámara.
Cuando haya guardado la fotografía, la cámara
volverá al modo de visor para que pueda tomar
otra instantánea.

Si no desea tomar otra instantánea, pulse NO para
salir del modo visor y ahorrar energía.
La cámara sale automáticamente del modo visor
después de unos minutos de inactividad.
Si aparece Memoria de cámara llena cuando intenta
guardar una fotografía, no podrá guardar más
fotografías hasta que no borre algunas o las mueva al
teléfono. Vea Borrar imagen o Mover a teléf. en “Ver
fotografías guardadas en la cámara” en la página 20
Ver fotografías guardadas en la cámara
Puede ver las fotografías guardadas en la cámara
desplazándose a Divers. y juegos, YES, CommuniCam,
YES, Ver imágenes, YES, seleccione una fotografía de la
lista, YES.
Opciones
Cuando se muestre una fotografía, pulse para:
•Enviar la imagen como documento adjunto a un
mensaje de correo electrónico o utilizando MMS.
• Obtener Info. de imagen: pulse YES para obtener
información de la fotografía como el nombre, el
tamaño y el tipo de archivo.
•Copiar a teléf.: pulse YES para copiar la fotografía al
teléfono para que se guarde en la cámara y en el
teléfono en Mis imágenes. Vea también “Fotografías
guardadas en el teléfono” en la página 22.
•Mover a teléf.: pulse YES para mover la fotografía a
Mis imágenes en el teléfono y eliminarla de la cámara.

•Borrar imagen: pulse YES para eliminar la fotografía
de la cámara.
•Eliminar todas: pulse YES para eliminar todas las
fotografías de la cámara.
Ajustes
Tamaño de la imagen
Puede elegir entre:
• Súper grande (SG (640x480))
• Grande (G (320x240))
• Mediano (M (160x 120))
• Pequeño (P (80x60))

Si selecciona un tamaño de fotografía más pequeño,
puede guardar más fotografías hasta que se llene la
memoria de la cámara. No se puede cambiar el tamaño
de una fotografía que ya haya sido realizada.
Para establecer el tamaño de las fotografías:
1. Cuando se muestre el menú CommuniCam, seleccione
Opciones, YES, Tamaño imag e n , YES.
También puede pulsar cuando la cámara esté en
modo visor. Seleccione Tamaño imagen, YES.
2. Seleccione un tamaño para las fotografías, YES.
3. Pulse NO para volver al menú CommuniCam.
Se aplica el tamaño de la fotografía hasta que
seleccione otro tamaño.
Balance de blancos
El Balance de blancos es una función que sirve para
mejorar la calidad de los colores de una imagen. Se
recomienda mantener el balance de blancos activado,
excepto en aquellos casos en los que se quiera
conseguir un efecto especial.
Para activar o desactivar el balance de blancos
1. Cuando se muestre el menú CommuniCam, seleccione
Opciones, YES, Balance blancos, YES.
También puede pulsar cuando la cámara esté en
modo visor. Seleccione Balance blancos, YES.
2. Seleccione Activar o Desactivar, YES.
3. Pulse NO para volver al menú CommuniCam.
Efectos
Puede añadir un efecto a una fotografía, por ejemplo
un borde decorativo. Puede elegir de diez
efectos diferentes.
Nota: Los efectos sólo se pueden utilizar con el
teléfono móvil T300 de Sony Ericsson.
Para añadir un efecto:
1. Cuando se muestre el menú CommuniCam, seleccione
Opciones, YES, Efecto, YES.
También puede pulsar cuando la cámara esté en
modo visor. Seleccione Efecto, YES.
2. Seleccione un efecto, YES.
3. Pulse NO para volver al menú CommuniCam.
