• Operate the unit only
on
3 V DC with
two
R6
(size AA) batteries.

Do
not use
any
othertype.
For
car
batteryoperation, use thecarbatterycord recommended for
this unit;
do
not use
any
othertype.
• The unitis not disconnected from the AC
power
source (mains)
as
longas it isconnected to the wall outlet,even
if
theunit itself
has
been turned off.
• Disconnect theAC
power
adaptor
from thewalloutlet
when
the unit
is not to beused for a long period
of
time.
• The name plate indicating operating voltage,etc., is located
on
the
bottom
of
the unit.
•Use
the unitwithin a temperature range
of
O"C
to
40"C
(32r
to
104"F).
If
it
is used in temperatures outsidethis range,
an
irregular
display mayappear
on
thedisplay window.
If
it is used in tempera-
tures lowerthan this range, the display may changevery slowly.
These irregularities will disappear
and
there will
be
no
damage to
the unit when theunit is used
in
its recommended temperature
range.
•
Do
not leave the unit nearheat sources, such
as
radiators
or
air ducts,
or
ina place subject to direct sunlight,excessive dust, moisture, rain,
mechanical vibration
or
shock.
• Should
any
solid object
or
liquid fall into the unit, remove the
batteries,
and
havethe
unit
checked byqualified personnel before
operating it
any
further.
• Sincea strong magnet is used for thespeaker, keep personal credit
cardsusing magneticcoding
or
spring-wound watches
away
from
the
unit
to
prevent themfrom possible damagecaused
by
the
magnet.
• When the casing becomes soiled, clean
it
witha soft
dry
cloth
dampened with mild detergentsolution. Neveruseabrasivecleans-
ers
or
chemicalsolvents,
as
they may
mar
the
casing.
• When there is lightning
and
you are using
an
external antenna,
immediatelydisconnect the AC
power
adaptor (if connected) from
the wall outlet. Nevertouch the antenna wire
when
thereis a
lightningstorm.
• Neverconnect a ground wireto a gas pipe.
• Reception
of
3.0 MHz may
be
difficult because
of
internal spurious
signalsgenerated by the built-in oscilators.
• In vehicles
or
buildings, radio reception maybe difficult
or
noisy.
