This manual is intended to familiarize all personnel with the safe
operation and maintenance procedures for the following Southwire
Tools and Equipment: QWIKjax™ Reel Stand
Keep this manual available to all personnel.
Replacement manuals are available upon request at no charge at

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
PURPOSE OF THIS MANUAL
CAUTION: Make sure bystanders are clear of the work area
when loading, unloading or dispensing cable. Nearby personnel
can be injured if a cable reel falls off stands.
• Do not use the reel roller for cable with damaged reels. Damaged
reels may not roll freely and may be pulled off the reel roller.
• Cable reels must be chocked at all contact points with the
ground to prevent movement during setup.
• The proper Southwire Axle (PJA-01/PJA-02) is required for safe
operation of this tool. Do not use anything else— substitutes
may not support the cable reel or may fall off the reel stand.
• Never attach casters or wheels to a QWIKjax™ reel stand.
• Use only on a hard, flat, level surface.
• Do not exceed the rated capacity of this tool.
CAUTION: Use this tool for manufacturer’s intended use
only, as described below in this manual. Use other than that which
is described in this manual may result in injury or property damage.

DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION
The QWIKjax™ Reel Stands are designed to lift and support reel
diameters from 21" to 72" respectively. Each QWIKjax™ Reel
Stand has the individual weight capacity of 3000 lbs (1363 kg).
When used collectivity as a set, two QWIKjax™ Reel Stands have a
total capacity of 6000 lbs (2727 kg).

SETUP
1. Remove base leg pin (7) and elevate jack (8). Replace supplied
base leg pin (7) and secure with cotter key lock (Fig 1 and 2).
2. Remove safety catch hook pin (10) from safety catch hook (9)
to allow for roller cradle (2) exposure (Fig. 3 and 4).
3. Ensure the QWIKjax™ is placed on a hard, flat, level surface.

OPERATION
1. Two QWIKjax™ Reel
Stands and one Southwire
Axle are required for a
complete setup.
(The QJ-01 reel stands must be
used with only the PJA-01
or PJA-02 axles).
2. Make sure the cable reel
is chocked to prevent
movement during setup.
3. Position the axle through
the center holes of the cable
reel.
4. Position QWIKjax™ Reel
Stands under each end of
the axle so the reel stand
rollers are aligned within
and in contact with the axle
grooves (Fig. 5).
5. Ensure one QWIKjax™ is
under each end of the axel
Note: The QWIKjax™ Reel Stands may require use of the
QWIKjax™ fast adjust feature. Remove the roller cradle lock pin (3)
on back of the roller cradle (2) and manually slide roller cradle (2)
up or down to desired height (Fig. 6 and 7). Use the roller cradle
lock pin (3) provided by inserting through both sides of the back
plate. The roller cradle pin (3) must rest on top of the pin support
bar to prevent downward movement. Insert supplied cotter key
back into pin.

5. Rotate safety catch hooks

safety catch hook pin (10) in
hook to prevent axle from
jumping off rollers (4)
(Fig. 8).
WARNING: Ensure all pins are in place and locking cotter
keys are positioned to prevent pins from sliding out.

6. Turn the QWIKjax™ crank handle (1) clockwise to extend one reel
stand until the cable reel clears the ground on one side (Fig. 9).
7. Turn the other QWIKjax™ crank handle (1) until the spindle is
level and the cable reel rotates freely (Fig. 10).
8. When finished dispensing cable, lower one side of reel by turning one of
the QWIKjax™ crank handle(1) counter-clockwise until one side of the
reel contacts the ground. Repeat this step on the other side to complete
lowering of the reel.
9. Remove safety catch hook pins (10) from both QWIKjax™ Reel Stands
and lower both safety catch hooks (9). Remove axle by sliding it out of
the reel and roll reel out of the way. Replace safety catch pins (10) back
into safety catch hooks (9).
10. To store the QWIKjax™ place the carriage at the highest setting
and remove base leg pin (7) and lower jack (8). Replace supplied
base leg pin (7) and secure with cotter key lock.

MAINTENANCE
3. Apply light coat of spray lubricant to carriage rollers (Fig 12).
The following procedures should be performed at least once
annually:
1. Keep tool clean and dry
2. Apply a general purpose grease through grease fitting at the
top of the back side of vertical square tubing (Fig. 11). Cycle
the acme thread up and down by turning the crank handle
through its complete range of travel.

What Does This Warranty Cover?
Five-Year Limited Warranty on Contractor Equipment
Under Southwire’s Contractor Equipment 5-Year Limited Warranty, Southwire Company, LLC
warrants that all Southwire Contractor Equipment will be free from manufacturer defects for a
period of five (5) years from the date of the original end user’s purchase. The following products
are excluded from this 5-Year Limited Warranty and are subject to separate warranty terms:
rope, blades, dies, draw studs, grips, Southwire Contractor Equipment electronic components,
and Material Boxes. Under this 5-Year Limited Warranty, the following are also excluded and
Southwire Company, LLC will have no liability for any of the following: normal wear and tear
resulting from product use and damage arising out of misuse, abuse, modification, and improper
product maintenance. This warranty also does not cover Southwire Contractor Equipment
products that have been modified by any party other than Southwire Company, LLC or its
authorized third party designee. This 5-Year Limited Warranty is not transferrable to or
enforceable by any person other than the product’s original end user.
One-Year Limited Warranty on Rope, Blades, Dies, Draw Studs, Grips, and Southwire
Contractor Equipment Electronic Components
Under this 1-Year Limited Warranty, Southwire Company, LLC warrants that all Southwire Ropes,
Blades, Dies, Draw Studs, Grips, and Southwire Contractor Equipment Electronic Components
will be free from manufacturer defects for a period of one-year from the date of the original end
user’s purchase. Under this 1-Year Limited Warranty for the aforementioned Southwire Contractor
Equipment items, the following are excluded and Southwire Company, LLC will have no liability
for any of the following: normal wear and tear resulting from product use and damage arising
out of misuse, abuse, modification, and improper product maintenance. This warranty also
does not cover Southwire Contractor Equipment that has been modified by any party other
than Southwire Company, LLC or its authorized third party designee. This 1-Year Limited
Warranty is not transferrable to or enforceable by any person other than the product’s original
end user.
Exclusion of Incidental, Consequential, Indirect, Special and Punitive Damages
SOUTHWIRE MAKES NO WARRANTY THAT SOUTHWIRE CONTRACTOR EQUIPMENT
PRODUCTS WILL BE MERCHANTABLE OR FIT FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
SOUTHWIRE MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, OTHER THAN
THE RELEVANT WARRANTY SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH IN THIS WARRANTY SECTION.
SOUTHWIRE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, INDIRECT,
SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES FOR ANY BREACH OF THIS LIMITED LIFETIME
WARRANTY.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential
damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

1. All warranty claims must be approved by Southwire’s Tools & Assembled Products
Warranty Department prior to return of product. If Southwire determines that a product
is defective, Southwire will, at its option, repair or replace defective products or defective
product components, free of charge.
2. Upon approval, Southwire will issue a Product Return Authorization Form which will
include instructions on how and where to return the product. The product serial number
and the original date of delivery must be set forth on the Product Return Authorization Form.
3. Southwire will cover standard freight charges (FedEx Ground rate) incurred in connection
with products that Southwire ultimately determines to be defective.
4. All defective components and defective products that Southwire replaces under
these Warranties will become Southwire’s property and will be retained by Southwire.

ATTENTION : S’assurer que les curieux ne se trouvent pas

Le support à bobines QWIKjax™ est conçu pour lever et supporter
des bobines dont le diamètre est de 21 po et 72 po respective-
ment. Chaque support à bobines QWIKjax™ peut soutenir indivi-
duellement 3000 lb (1363 kg). Utilisés en paire, deux supports à
bobines QWIKjax™ ont une capacité totale de 6000 lb (2727kg).

CONFIGURATION
1. Retirer le dispositif de sécurité du longeron porteur (7) et lever le
vérin (8). Replacer le dispositif de verrouillage du longeron
porteur (7) et
2. Retirer le dispositif de verrouillage (10) des crochets de sécurité
(9) pour exposer le berceau à rouleaux (2) (Fig. 3 et 4).
3. S’assurer que le QWIKjax™ est placé sur une surface dure,
plane et au niveau.

OPÉRATION
1. Deux supports à bobines
QWIKjax™ un axe Southwire
sont nécessaires pour
compléter la configuration.
(Le support à bobines QJ-01 doit
être utilisé uniquement avec les
axes PJA-01 ou PJA-02).
2. S’assurer que la bobine de
câble est calée afin d’éviter
tout mouvement durant
l’installation.
3. Positionner l’axe à travers les
trous au centre de la bobine
de câble.
4. Positionner les supports de
bobines QWIKjax™ sous
chaque extrémité de l’axe de
façon à ce que les rouleaux
soient alignés et en contact
avec les rainures de l’axe (Fig,
5).
5. S’assurer qu’il y a un
QWIKjax™ sous chaque
extrémité de l’axe.
Remarque : Le support de bobines QWIKjax™ pourrait nécessiter
l’utilisation de la caractéristique d’ajustement rapide QWIKjax™.
Retirer le dispositif de sécurité (3) à l’arrière du berceau à rouleaux
(2) et glisser manuellement le berceau à rouleaux (2) vers le haut ou
vers le bas à la hauteur désirée (Fig. 6 et 7). Utiliser le dispositif de
sécurité (3) du berceau à rouleaux fourni en l’insérant des deux
côtés de la plaque arrière. Le dispositif de sécurité du berceau à
rouleaux (3) doit reposer sur le dessus de la barre de support pour
éviter tout mouvement vers le bas. Ré-insérer la clavette fournie
dans le dispositif de sécurité.

OPÉRATION
5. Tourner les crochets de
sécurité (9) à 180 degrés et
insérer le dispositif de
verrouillage (10) dans les
crochets pour éviter que
l’axe bascule hors des
rouleaux (4) (Fig. 8).
AVERTISSEMENT : S’assurer que tous les dispositifs de
sécurité sont en place et que les clavettes sont verrouillées pour
éviter le glissement des dispositifs de sécurité.
