• Allelectricalwiringmustbeproperlyinstalled,insulatedandgrounded.
• Oldductworkshouldbecleanedorreplacedifnecessarytoavoidthepossibilityofagreasere.

1. Distance between the oor to the countertop/stove.
2. Distance between the countertop/stove to the range hood (recommend* 30” to 36”).
3. Height of hood and duct cover/cabinet.
For the most efcient & quiet operation:
• Adistanceof30”to36”isrecommended*betweenstovetopandthebottomofrangehood.
• Itisimportanttoinstallthehoodatthepropermountingheight.Hoodsmountedtoolowcouldresult
inheatdamageandrehazard;whilehoodsmountedtoohighwillbehardtoreachandwilllooseits
performanceandefciency.
• Itisrecommendedthattherangehoodbeventedverticallythroughtheroofthrough8”(20.3cm)orbiggerround
metal/aluminumventwork.
• Alwaysuserigidtypemetal/aluminumductsifavailabletomaximizeairowwhenconnectingtopro-
vided duct.
• Thesizeoftheventshouldbeuniform.

For the most efcient & quiet operation:
• ALWAYS,whenpossible,reducethenumberortransitionsandturns.Iflongductrunisrequired,increase
ductsizefrom8”to10”orbiggersizeduct.Ifareducerisused,installalongreducerinsteadofapancake
reducer.Reducingductsizewillrestrictairowanddecreaseairow,thusreduceductsizeasfarawayfrom
openingaspossible.
• Usenomorethanthree90°elbows.
• Makesurethereisaminimumof24”(61cm)ofstraightventbetweentheelbowsifmorethanoneelbowisused.
• DONOTinstalltwoelbowstogether.
• Thelengthofventsystemandnumberofelbowsshouldbekepttoaminimumtoprovideefcientperformance.
• Theventsystemmusthaveadamper.Ifrooforwallcaphasadamper,DONOTusedamper(ifsupplied)ontopofthe
range hood.
• Usesilvertapeorducttapetosealalljointsintheventsystem.
• Usecaulkingtosealexteriorwallorroofopeningaroundthecap.PleaseuseDuct Run Calculationbelowtocom-
putetotalavailableductrunwhenusingelbows,transitionsandcaps.
• Ifturnsortransitionsarerequired:Installasfarawayfromopeningandasfarapart,between2,aspossible.

Duct Run Calcuation example:
One roof cap, two 90º elbow, and one 45º elbow used:
0ft + 9ft + 9ft + 5ft = 23ft used.
Deduct 23ft from 50ft, 27ft maximum available for
straight duct run.
Calculating Vent System Length

Advanced Preparations:
1. Befamiliar with thecontrolsoftherangehoodbyreading
through Range Hood Operations,Page12.
2. Placetherange hood onaat,stable surface. Connectthe
rangehoodtoadesignatedstandardoutlet(pleasereferthe
productlabelforthesuitablevoltageofthisunit)andturnon
therangehood.Verifyall operations ofthe rangehood by
referring to Range Hood Operations, Page12.
3. Place all supplied parts and required hardware on a at, stable surface and
verifytheexistenceofallsuppliedpartslistedonPage4.
4. Carefullyremove the whiteplasticprotective coatfrom thechimney covers
and range hood.
Preparations:
NOTE: To avoid damage to your hood, prevent debris from entering the vent opening.
1. Decide the location of the venting pipe from the hood to the outside. Refer to Venting MethodsonPage7.
2. Duetotheweightandsizeofthisunit,pleasemakesurethatthewoodhoodorframeworkbeingusedisstable
andsecureinthewall.Astraight,shortventrunwillallowthehoodtoperformmoreefciently.
3. Trytoavoidasmanytransitions,elbows,andlongrunaspossible.Thismayreducetheperformanceofthe
hood.
4. IMPORTANT:Peelwhiteplasticprotectivecoatoffthehood,ifany.
5. Usesilvertapeorducttapetosealjointsbetweenpipesections.
6. Putathick,protectivecoveringovercountertop,cooktoporrangetoprotectfromdamageordirt.Remove
anyhazardousobjectsaroundtheareawheninstalling.
CAUTION: If moving the cooking range is necessary to install the hood, turn OFF the power on an elec-
tric range at the main electrical box. SHUT OFF THE GAS BEFORE MOVING A GAS RANGE.
7. Thehoodassemblyisshippedwiththestandard8”roundtransition.Note:Thetransitionisshippedunin-
stalledandmustbeinstalledbeforemountingtheinsertliner(Figure1or2below).Ifin-hoodfanisfurnished
thetransitionisshippedseparately.
8. Ifventingtotheoutsideinstallventsystem(seeVenting Requirements,Page6).Usecaulkingtosealexterior
wall or roof openings.
9. Disconnectmainelectricalsupply,prepareandrunelectricalwiringthroughceilingorwall.Leaveapproxi-
mately12”ofelectricalcordhangingfromtheceiling.Donotrestorepoweruntilwiringiscompleted.
10.Disconnectpowercord,removethebufeltersandthegreasetunnel.Refertoinstallationstep9&10.
11.Reinstallthebafeltersandthegreasetunnelaftertherangehoodisproperlyinstalled.

Installation of Metal Liner Inserts
1. Ifthe optional trimkitisuseditmustbeinstalledpriorto mounting theMetalHoodLinerintothewood
decorativehood.Usetheprovided#8Phillipsheadscrews.SeeFigure3.
2. LifttheMetalHoodLinerintothedecorativehoodstructure.Duetotheweightoftheassemblythreepeople
mayberequiredforproperinstallation.
3. Install #6 x 1/2” screws through the pre-drilled EZ mount holes into the decorative hood structure. Tap
chromecapintoEZmountholesforushappearanceSeeFigure4.
4. Additionalmountingfastenersmaybeusedtosecuretothebackwallandtop(frominside).
CAUTION: Make certain the range hood is secure before releasing!
5. Forsafetypurpose,pre-drilledmountingholesareprovidedthroughthebackofthehood.Foramoresecure
installation,useasmanymountingholesasneededtosecurefromtheinsideofhood.
6. Use8”roundsteelpipe(followbuildingcodesinyourarea)toconnecttheexhaustonthehoodtotheduct-
workabove.Usesilvertapeorducttapetomakealljointssecureandairtight.RefertoFigure5.
SAFETY WARNING: Risk of electrical shock. this range hood must be properly grounded. Make sure this
is done by qualied electrician in accordance with all applicable national and local electrical codes. Before
connecting wires, switch power off at service panel and lock service panel to prevent power from being
switched on accidentally.
7. Connecttherangehoodtoadesignatedstandardoutletorcutofftheplugandconnectthreewires(black,
whiteandgreen) to house wiresand capwith wireconnectors. Connectaccording tocolors (i.e. blackto
black,whitetowhite,andgreentogreen)asshowninFigure6.
8. Storeexcesswiresinthewiringbox.
9. Drop oil tunnel into recess support near rear of hood. Refer to Figure 7.

manually turned on or off.

main the same the next time it is turned on.

1. Iftherangehoodorhalogenlightdoesnotoperate
afterinstallation:
• Checkiftherangehoodhasbeenpluggedin,make
surethatallpowerhasbeenturnedbackON,fused
notblownandallelectricalwiringareproperlycon-
nected.
• Swapoutlightassemblytoworkingonestodeter-
minewhether it iscausedby defective bulbs.See
Replacing the light bulbsonPage18.
2. Therangehoodvibrateswhentheblowerison: • Therangehoodmightnothavebeensecuredprop-
erlyontotheceilingorwall.
3. Theblowerorfanseemsweak: • Checkthattheductsizedusedisatleast8”or3-1/4
x10”.RangehoodWILLNOTfunctionefciently
withinsufcient duct size.Forexample: 10”duct
over8”holeandlooselysecured.
• Checkifductiscloggedorifdamperunit(half-cir-
cularapper) is notinstalled correctlyoropening
properly.Atightmeshonasidewallcapunitmight
alsocauserestrictiontotheairow.
4. Thelightsworkbuttheblowerisnotspinningatall,
isstuckorisrattling.
• Theblowermightbejammedorscraping thebot-
tomduetoshippingdamage.Pleasecontactusim-
mediately.
5. Thehoodisnotventingoutproperly: • Makesurethe distance between the stove top and
thebottomofthehoodiswithin*30”and36”in
distance.*Due to different ceiling height congura-
tions, recommended height may not be applicable.

PowerScruv®,EZ-Off®ovencleaner),orsteelwool/scoringpads,whichwillscratchanddamagethestainlesssteel
surface.Forheaviersoiluseliquiddegreasesuchas“Forumla409®”or“Fantastic®”brandcleaner.
• Ifhoodlookssplotchy(stainlesssteelhood),useastainlesssteelcleanertocleanthesurfaceofthehood.Avoidgetting
cleaning solution onto or into the control panel. Follow directions of the stainless steel cleaner. CAUTION: Do not
leave on too long as this may cause damage to hood nish. Usesofttoweltowipeoffthecleaningsolution,gently
ruboffanystubbornspots.Usedrysofttoweltodrythehood.
• Aftercleaning,youmayusenonabrasivestainlesssteelpolishsuchas3M®orZEP®,topolishandbuffoutthestainless

• DO NOT allow deposits to accumulate or remain on the hood.
