Getting Started
Setting the LCD clock
Press the ‘SET’ button, the hour will begin to ash.
Press ‘UP’ or ‘DOWN’ until the correct hour is
shown, then press ‘SET’ again. The minutes will
now ash. Set minutes in the same way, using ‘UP’
or ‘DOWN’, then press ‘SET’, it will then continue
to Year, month and day. Set each using ‘UP’ or
‘DOWN’ and pressing ‘SET’ between each.
Installing microSD card
The microSD card is installed in TF slot under the
battery compartment cover.
Charging your battery recorder
Before using the SPYALC16 we recommend
making sure the device is fully charged. To charge,
connect to a PC USB port, or a 5V USB charger. The
red light will come on to indicate it is connected to
a charger. The recorder will take 4-6 hours to fully
charge from a at battery. The red light will go out
when fully charged.
Playback on your computer
For playing back the les on your computer, we
recommend using VLC Media Player. The latest
version can be downloaded for free from http://
www.videolan.org
Make sure the switch under the battery cover is
set to ON before connecting to your computers
USB port, then once connected, press the power
button on the remote and the unit will be detected
by your PC.

Getting to know your recorder
Entering standby
Move the switch under the battery compartment
to ON, then press the power button on the
remote. The blue light on the front of the unit will
illuminate. The clock is now in standby mode.
Recording audio
From standby mode, press the audio record
button on the remote. The blue light will ash and
then go out. The unit will now be recording audio.
To stop recording, press the audio record button
again, the blue light will come on to indicate it is
back to standby mode.
Recording on motion detection
From standby mode, press the motion record
button. The blue light will ash and then go out,
the device will now record when motion is seen in
front of the lens. To stop, press the motion record
button and it will return to standby mode.
Take a photo
From standby mode, press the photo button. The
blue light will ash once to indicate it has taken a
photo, and then return to standby mode.
Setting date & time for video timestamp
Connect the SPYALC16 to your computer. Open
the device so you can see the contents of the SD
card. Right click, select ‘New’ then ‘Text Document’
and name the le time.
The date and time is stored in the following
format:
YYYY MM DD HH:MM:SS
Edit the le to the current date and time, for
example. At 3PM on the 14th October 2013 the
le would read:
2013 10 14 15:00:00
Once you have set it to the current date and time,
save the le. Now disconnect the device and
power it on. The date and time will be updated to
the information in the le.
