STEP1: Unpack scale system and check parts against PACKING CHECKLIST. If there are
missing or damaged parts, please call Service Hotline: [phone].
STEP 2: (Figure 1) Position Mast Assembly (#1) into the Base Assembly (#2) as shown, while
feeding display cable through cable hole on the right.
STEP3: (Figure 1) Insert the four (4) 3/8-16 screws (#4) into the holes in Mast Assembly and Base
Assembly as indicated. Secure the Mast Assembly by tightening the screws into Base Assembly.
STEP 4: Gently rest the scale on its side. Verify that serial number on bottom of the Display
Unit (#5) matches that on the Bottom Cover; located on the underside of the Base Assembly (#2).

STEP 5: (Figure 2) Loosen the four (4) screws on Battery Compartment Cover. Remove cover.
STEP 6: (Figure 2) Attach the Display Cable Connector (#6) to its mate in the Base Assembly.
Slide the extra cable back up into the mast pipe.
STEP 7: (Figure 2) Install the six (6) “D” cell batteries as
indicated on the Battery Compartment Cover label.
STEP 8: Re-install Battery Compartment Cover and
secure tightly secure with four (4) cover screws.
STEP9: Return the scale tothe upright position.

STEP10: (Figure 3) Insert the Left (#11) and
Right (#12) Side Hand Rails into the Rail Holder
cups on the sides of the Base Assembly(#2).
NOTE: Ensure Hand Rails are fully inserted
into the cups (it maybe necessaryto loosen the
Allen screws inthe cups to allow the rails to fit
down into cups completely).
STEP11: (Figure 3) Remove screws from
the Left and Right Hand Rail securing posts, on
the Mast Assembly (#1). Slide the top of the Left
and Right Hand Rails over the Hand Rail
securing posts.
STEP12: Install the screws through the Left
and Right handrails and intothe posts. Tighten
these screws, and the Allen head screws in the
cups, to secure the Left and Right Hand Rails
securelyin place.
NOTE: Ensure Hand Rails are tightlysecure
and donot move.

INSTALLING AC POWER SUPPLY (SR585i-KG-AC):
STEP 13: Connect AC Power Supply (#13) to the bottom side of the Display Unit and plug into
standard AC Wall outlet.
STEP 14: Press and hold “ZERO/WEIGH” button to set System Zero (see directions for
SETTING SYSTEM ZERO).
INSTALLING OPTIONAL PRINTER
STEP 1: Mount the Printer Mast Bracket (#9) to the rear of the Mast Assembly (#1) using the two
(2) mounting screws provided. NOTE: The three holes on the Printer Mast Bracket should be
towards the top of the Mast Assembly (figure 4).
STEP 2: Apply a small amount of Loctiteto the three (3) small screws provided and attach the
Printer Mounting Bracket (#8) to the Printer Mast Bracket (#9) (figure 5).
STEP 3: (Figure 3) attach the Printer (#7) to the Printer Mounting Bracket (#8) by inserting the
tabs on the Printer Mounting Bracket (figure 5) into the slots on the back of the Printer and
carefully snap in place.
STEP 4: (Figure 3) Plug the Printer Cable (#10) into the Printer and into the connector on the
bottom of the Display Unit (#5). Tighten the Printer Cable connector screws into the Display Unit
connector.

INSTALLING OPTIONAL HEIGHT BAR ASSEMBLY
STEP 1: Remove the round plug from the top left of the Display Unit. Insert the Height Bar
Assembly into the hole in the Display Unit. Ensure the Height Bar Assembly seats correctly in the
Base Assembly (Item 3, Figure 1).
NOTE: It may be necessary to loosen the four (4) 3/8 –16 flat head Mast Base Assembly
mounting screws (Item 4, Figure 1), to allow movement of the Mast for insertion of the Height Bar
Assembly into the Base Assembly.
STEP 2: After Height Bar Assembly installation re-tighten the four (4) 3/8 –16 flat head Mast
Base Assembly mounting screws.
STEP 3: Tighten the two (2) Allen screws into the Display Unit to secure the Height Bar
Assembly to the scale.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION and INTENDED USE
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The SR585i-KG Bariatric Stand-On Scale employs the latest in microprocessor and load cell
technology to provide accurate and repeatable weight data. Four (4) identically matched transducers
are strategically placed to ensure an accurate representation of the patient’s weight.
The low power microprocessor circuitry allows the SR585i-KG to derive its power from six (6)
common “D” cell batteries, which will provide up to 400 hours of weight readings before needing
replacement. This eliminates the need for an external battery charger.
The SR585i-KG can be powered by a Medical Grade AC wall power supply, with the “D” cell
batteries providing backup power. Continuous wall power allows the unit to be always on and
ready to take weight readings without the need to make contact with the membrane switch.
The patient’s weight is displayed on a 16-character dot matrix LCD. The weight data may be viewed
in kilograms with a displayed resolution of 0.1 kg.
INTENDED USE
The SR585i-KG Bariatric Stand-On Scale is
specifically designed for use as a portable patient
weighing system for ambulatory or those that need to
be supported by a chair or walker. Optional equipment
includes a Height Bar, Printer, and AC Power Supply.
Maximum weight capacity must not exceed 454
kilograms gross weight.

STORAGE and TRANSPORTATION
STORAGE
If storing this equipment for periods longer than three (3) months, remove the batteries. To
maintain proper operation of this instrumentation, storage and transport conditions should not vary
outside the following conditions: Relative Humidity 0% to 85%, Ambient Temperature 14°F to
122°F (-10°C to +50°C).
TRANSPORTATION
To transport the SR585i-KG Bariatric Stand-On Scale, lower the Height Bar if installed, tip the
scale back and wheel it to a new location. Lower the platform back down to the floor, being
careful not to shock the scale.

CLEANING and DISINFECTING
CLEANING
To clean the display / user interface and other scale contact areas:
Use a soft cloth dampened with water and mild detergent to clean scale surfaces.
Wipe surface with clean soft cloth dampened with water and then dry with clean soft cloth.
Do not use abrasive materials to clean scale surface to prevent damage to the surface
finish.
Do not spray liquid directly onto scale surfaces. Use only a damp cloth.
DISINFECTION
To disinfect the display / user interface and other scale contact areas:
Use a soft cloth dampened with disinfectant or a damp disposable disinfectant cloth. Cloth
cannot be dripping wet. Follow manufacturer’s instruction on the proper use of
commercially available disinfectants.
Disinfectant solutions with 1% sodium hypochlorite or 70% isopropyl alcohol are suitable
for display / user interface and other scale contact surfaces.
After disinfecting, use a soft cloth dampened with clean water and dry with a soft clean
cloth to prevent buildup of material on scale finish.
Do not use abrasive material to disinfect / clean scale surfaces to prevent damage to the
surface finish.
Do not spray liquid directly onto scale surfaces. Use only a damp cloth.
