STANLEY®Multimeter
The STANLEY Multimeter is a CAT III
300 V 10 A compact digital multimeter for
measuring DC and AC voltage, DC current,
resistance, continuity, diode polarity, and
temperature. It features polarity indication, data
hold, and overrange indication.
User Safety
WARNING: Read and understand all
instructions before using product.
Failure to follow all instructions may result in
severe injury or death:
• CAT III – This measurement Category III
multimeter is for use on permanently installed
loads. Examples are measurements on
distribution boards, circuit breakers, wiring,
and equipment like xed installation motors.
Do not use the meter for measurements
higher than Category III 300 V 10 A.
• DO NOT use the meter if it is damaged.
Before using the meter, inspect the case.
Pay particular attention to the insulation
surrounding the connectors.
• ALWAYS Inspect the test leads for damaged
insulation or exposed metal. Check the test
leads for continuity. Replace damaged test
leads before you use the meter.
• DO NOT use the meter if it operates
abnormally. Protection may be impaired.
•DO NOT operate the meter where explosive
gas, vapor, or dust is present.
• DO NOT apply more than the rated voltage,
as marked on the meter, between terminals or
between any terminal and earth ground.
• ALWAYS verify the meter’s operation by
measuring a known voltage before use.
• ALWAYS turn off circuit power before
connecting the meter in the circuit to measure
current. Remember to place the meter in
series with the circuit.
• ALWAYS turn off circuit power before
connecting the meter to the circuit to measure
resistance.
• ALWAYS Use caution when working with
voltage above 30 V AC rms, 42 V peak, or
60 V DC. These voltages pose an increased
shock hazard.
• ALWAYS keep your ngers behind the nger
guards on the probes when in use.
• ALWAYS connect the common test lead
before you connect the live test lead. When
you disconnect test leads, disconnect the live
test lead rst.
• ALWAYS Remove the test leads from the
meter before you open the battery cover or the
case.
• DO NOT operate the meter with the battery

cover or portions of the case removed or
loosened.
• ALWAYS replace the battery as soon as the
low battery indicator appears. Failure to
do so could lead to possible electric shock or
personal injury due to false readings.
• DO NOT touch any conductor with hand or
skin, and do not ground yourself.
• DO NOT use the meter in a manner not
specied by this manual or the safety
features provided by the meter may be
impaired.
• DO NOT operate this instrument if your
hand, a test lead or the instrument is wet.
• ALWAYS Adhere to local and national safety
codes. Personal protective equipment must
be used to prevent shock and arc blast
injury where hazardous live conductors are
exposed.
• ALWAYS be aware that when an input
terminal is connected to a hazardous live
voltage, this potential can occur at all other
terminals.
• ALWAYS use only 9 V batteries specied
for use with this product. Use of any other
batteries may create a risk of re.
• DO NOT disassemble, service or repair this
product. Repairs performed by unqualied
personnel could result in serious injury.
• DO NOT splash or immerse the unit in water.
• ALWAYS turn off the product when not in
use.
• ALWAYS ensure battery is inserted in the
correct manner, with the correct polarity.
• NEVER intentionally short any battery
terminals.
• DO NOT attempt to charge alkaline batteries.
• DO NOT dispose of batteries in re.
• ALWAYS remove the battery if storing the
unit for over a month.
• DO NOT dispose of this product with
household waste.
• ALWAYS check local codes and properly
dispose of used batteries.
• PLEASE RECYCLE in line with local
provisions for the collection and disposal of
electrical and electronic waste.
• WARNING: To avoid risk of personal
injury and/or possible damage to the meter
or to the equipment under test, follow these
guidelines: If these guidelines are not
followed there is risk of shock.
• Disconnect circuit power and discharge all
capacitors before testing resistance, diode,
continuity and temperature.
• Use the properly rated terminals (function
and range) for your measurements. The
terminals included with this multimeter are
CAT III rated for 300 V 10 A Max.
• Before measuring current, turn off the power
to the circuit before connecting the meter to
the circuit. Remember to place the meter in
series with the circuit.
• Before turning the rotary switch to change
functions, disconnect test leads from the
circuit under test.

thermocouple may be damaged.
Note:
1. Use K Type thermocouple.
2. Accuracy does not include error of the
thermocouple probe.
3. Accuracy specication assumes ambient
temperature is stable to ±1°C. For ambient
temperature changes of °C, rated accuracy
applies after 1 hour.
4. There is no stated accuracy for the
thermocouple provided with this unit.
Readings with this thermocouple should be
used for reference only.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
BATTERY
Remove battery door Phillips head screw, open
the battery door and connect a 9 V battery to
the clip. Put battery into case, close battery
cover and replace screw. When the low
battery indicator appears on the display,
the battery is low and must be replaced
immediately.
USAGE
DataHoldFeature
Press the HOLD button to enable the Data
Hold feature. The current reading will be held
on the display. To disable, press HOLD again.
Note: If the display does not turn on or the
reading on display does not change, the HOLD
button may be depressed. Try disabling the
Data Hold feature.
MeasuringDCVoltage
1.Connect the black test lead to the COM
terminal and the red test lead to the
terminal.
2.Set the range switch to desired range
position. If the magnitude of the voltage to be
measured is not known beforehand, set the
range switch to the highest range rst and
then reduce it one range at a time until the
appropriate resolution is obtained.
3.Connect the test leads across the source or
circuit to be tested.
4.Read the reading on the display. The polarity
of the test lead connection will be indicated.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or
damage to the meter, do not apply terminals to
voltage higher than 300 V.
MeasuringACVoltage
1.Connect the black test lead to the COM
terminal and the red test lead to the
terminal.
2.Set the range switch to desired range
position. If the magnitude of the voltage to be
measured is not known beforehand, set the
range switch to the highest range rst and
then reduce it until satisfactory resolution is
obtained.
3.Connect the test leads across the source or
circuit to be tested.
4.Read the reading on the display. If the
magnitude of the voltage to be measured is
not known beforehand, set the range switch
to the highest range rst and then reduce it
range by range until satisfactory resolution is
obtained.
5.Read the reading on the display.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or
damage to the meter, do not apply terminals to
voltage higher than 300 V.
MeasuringDCCurrent
1.Connect the black test lead to the COM
terminal and the red test lead to the

terminal if the current to be measured is
less than 200 mA. If the current is between
200 mA and 10 A, connect the red test lead
to the 10 A terminal instead.
2.Set the range switch to desired range
position. Note: If the magnitude of the current
to be measured is not known beforehand,
set the range switch to the highest range rst
and then reduce it one range at a time until
the appropriate resolution is obtained.
3.Turn off power to the circuit to be tested.
Then discharge all capacitors.
4.Break the circuit path to be tested, and
connect the test leads in series with the
circuit.
5.Turn on power to the circuit.
6.Read the reading on the display. The polarity
of the red test lead connection will be
indicated.
WARNING: To avoid risk of personal
injury and/or possible damage to the meter,
when using the 10 A terminal, you should only
acquire readings for 10 seconds maximum with
a minimum resting time of 15 minutes between
readings.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or
damage to the meter, do not apply terminals to
amperage higher than 200 mA when connected
to the terminal. Do not apply terminals to
amperage higher than 10 A when connected to
the 10 A terminal.
MeasuringResistance
1.Connect the black test lead to the COM
terminal and the red test lead to the
terminal.
2.Set the range switch to desired range
position.
3.Connect the test leads across the object to
be measured.
4.Read the reading on the display.
Note:
1. For measurements >1000 kΩ, the meter
may take a few seconds to stabilize the
reading. This is normal for high resistance
measurements.
2.When the input is not connected, i.e. at open
circuit, “1” will be displayed as an overrange
indication.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or
damage to the meter, before measuring in-
circuit resistance, disconnect all power to the
circuit to be tested and discharge all capacitors
thoroughly.
ContinuityTest
1.Connect the black test lead to the COM
terminal and the red test lead to the
terminal.
2.Set the range switch to the position.
3.Connect the test leads across the object to
be tested.
4.If the resistance is lower than approximately
30 Ω, the built-in buzzer will sound.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or
damage to the meter, before performing
continuity test, disconnect all power to the
circuit to be tested and discharge all capacitors
thoroughly.
DiodeTest
1.Connect the black test lead to the COM
terminal and the red test lead to the
terminal. Note the polarity of the red test lead
is positive (+).
2.Set the range switch to the position.
3.Connect the red test lead to the anode of the
diode to be tested and the black test lead to
the cathode of the diode.

4.The display will show the approximate
forward voltage drop of the diode. If the
connection is reversed “1” will be displayed.
MeasuringTemperature
1.Set the range switch to the °C position.
2.Connect the negative ( – ) plug of the K type
thermocouple to the COM terminal and the
positive ( + ) plug of this K type thermocouple
to the terminal.
3.Carefully place the sensing end of the
thermocouple on the object to be measured.
4.Wait until the reading stabilizes, and then
read the reading on the display.
NOTICE: To avoid possible damage to the
meter or other equipment, remember that while
the meter is rated for 0°C to +1000°C, the
K Type Thermocouple provided with the meter
is rated up to 250°C. For temperatures out of
that range, you must obtain and use a higher
rated thermocouple.

Das STANLEY Multimeter ist ein kompaktes
Digitalmultimeter der KAT. III mit 300 V 10 A zur
Messung von Gleich- und Wechselspannung,
Gleichstrom, Widerstand, Kontinuität,
Diodenpolarität und Temperatur. Es verfügt
über Polaritätsanzeige, Data Hold-Funktion
und Überlastanzeige.
Benutzersicherheit
WARNUNG: Lesen Sie alle

Die Nichtbeachtung der Anweisungen kann zu

4. Für das mit diesem Gerät gelieferte
Thermoelement gibt es keine festgelegte
Genauigkeit. Die Messungen mit diesem
Thermoelement sollten nur als Referenz
verwendet werden.
BETRIEBSANLEITUNG
BATTERIE
Entfernen Sie die Kreuzschlitzschraube der
Batterieabdeckung, öffnen Sie das Batteriefach
und schließen Sie eine 9 V-Batterie an den
Clip an. Setzen Sie die Batterie in das Fach
ein, schließen Sie die Abdeckung und bringen
Sie die Schraube wieder an. Wenn die Anzeige
für schwache Batterie auf dem Display
erscheint, ist die Batterie fast leer und muss
sofort ersetzt werden.
VERWENDUNG
DataHold-Funktion
Drücken Sie die HOLD-Taste, um die Data-
Hold-Funktion zu aktivieren. Der aktuelle

Messwert wird auf dem Display festgehalten.
Zum Deaktivieren drücken Sie erneut die
HOLD-Taste. Hinweis: Wenn sich das Display
nicht einschalten lässt oder sich der Messwert
auf dem Display nicht ändert, ist eventuell die
HOLD-Taste noch gedrückt. Versuchen Sie, die
Data-Hold-Funktion zu Deaktivieren.
Gleichspannungmessen
1.Verbinden Sie die schwarze Messleitung
mit dem COM-Anschluss und die rote
Messleitung mit dem -Anschluss.
2.Stellen Sie den Bereichsschalter auf die
gewünschte Bereichsposition. Wenn
die Größe der zu messenden Spannung
nicht im Voraus bekannt ist, stellen Sie den
Bereichsschalter auf den höchsten Bereich
und reduzieren ihn dann um jeweils einen
Bereich, bis die entsprechende Auösung
erhalten wird.
3.Verbinden Sie die Messleitungen über die zu
testende Quelle oder Schaltung.
4.Lesen Sie den Messwert auf dem Display
ab. Die Polarität des Anschlusses der
Messleitung wird angezeigt.
WARNUNG: Um einen Stromschlag oder
Schäden am Messgerät zu vermeiden, legen
Sie an die Anschlüsse keine höhere Spannung
als 300 V an.
Wechselspannungmessen
1.Verbinden Sie die schwarze Messleitung
mit dem COM-Anschluss und die rote
Messleitung mit dem -Anschluss.
2.Stellen Sie den Bereichsschalter auf die
gewünschte Bereichsposition. Wenn
die Größe der zu messenden Spannung
nicht im Voraus bekannt ist, stellen Sie
den Bereichsschalter auf den höchsten
Bereich und reduzieren ihn dann, bis die
zufriedenstellende Auösung erhalten wird.
3.Verbinden Sie die Messleitungen über die zu
testende Quelle oder Schaltung.
4.Lesen Sie den Messwert auf dem Display
ab. Wenn die Größe der zu messenden
Spannung nicht im Voraus bekannt ist,
stellen Sie den Bereichsschalter auf den
höchsten Bereich und reduzieren ihn dann
nach und nach, bis die zufriedenstellende
Auösung erhalten wird.
5.Lesen Sie den Messwert auf dem Display ab.
WARNUNG: Um einen Stromschlag oder
Schäden am Messgerät zu vermeiden, legen
Sie an die Anschlüsse keine höhere Spannung
als 300 V an.
Gleichstrommessen
1.Verbinden Sie die schwarze Messleitung
mit dem COM-Anschluss und die rote
Messleitung mit dem -Anschluss,
wenn der zu messende Strom weniger
als 200 mA hat. Wenn die Stromstärke
zwischen 200 mA und 10 A liegt, schließen
Sie die rote Messleitung stattdessen an den
10 A-Anschluss an.
2.Stellen Sie den Bereichsschalter auf die
gewünschte Bereichsposition. Hinweis:
Wenn die Größe des zu messenden Stroms
nicht im Voraus bekannt ist, stellen Sie den
Bereichsschalter auf den höchsten Bereich
und reduzieren ihn dann um jeweils einen
Bereich, bis die entsprechende Auösung
erhalten wird.
3.Schalten Sie den zu testenden Stromkreis
aus. Entladen Sie dann alle Kondensatoren.
4.Unterbrechen Sie den zu testenden
Schaltungsweg und verbinden Sie die
Messleitungen in Serie mit dem Stromkreis.
5.Schalten Sie die Stromzufuhr zu dem
Stromkreis aus.
6.Lesen Sie den Messwert auf dem Display

des 10 A-Anschlusses Verletzungen und/

zwischen den Messungen eine Pause von
mindestens 15 Minuten machen.
WARNUNG: Um einen Stromschlag

Stromstärke als 200 mA an, wenn eine
Verbindung zum -Anschluss besteht.

Widerstandmessen
1.Verbinden Sie die schwarze Messleitung

gewünschte Bereichsposition.
3.Verbinden Sie die Messleitungen über das zu
messende Objekt.
4.Lesen Sie den Messwert auf dem Display ab.
Hinweis:
1.Bei Messungen >1000 kOhm kann das
Messgerät einige Sekunden brauche, um
den Messwert zu stabilisieren. Das ist bei
Hochwiderstandsmessungen normal.
2.Wenn der Eingang nicht angeschlossen
ist, d.h. bei offenem Stromkreis, wird als
Überlastanzeige “1” angezeigt.
WARNUNG: Um einen Stromschlag
oder Schäden am Messgerät zu vermeiden,
schalten Sie die Stromversorgung des zu
testenden Stromkreises aus und entladen
Sie sorgfältig alle Kondensatoren, bevor der
Widerstand im Stromkreis gemessen wird.
Durchgangsprüfung
1.Verbinden Sie die schwarze Messleitung
mit dem COM-Anschluss und die rote
Messleitung mit dem -Anschluss.
2.Stellen Sie den Bereichsschalter auf die
-Position.
3.Verbinden Sie die Messleitungen über das zu
testende Objekt.
4. Ist der Widerstand geringer als ca. 30 Ω,
ertönte der eingebaute Summer.
WARNUNG: Um einen Stromschlag
oder Schäden am Messgerät zu vermeiden,
schalten Sie die Stromversorgung des zu
testenden Stromkreises aus und entladen
Sie sorgfältig alle Kondensatoren, bevor ein
Durchgangstest erfolgt.
Diodentest
1.Verbinden Sie die schwarze Messleitung
mit dem COM-Anschluss und die rote
Messleitung mit dem -Anschluss.
Beachten Sie, dass die Polarität der roten
Messleitung positiv (+) ist.
2.Stellen Sie den Bereichsschalter auf die
-Position.
3.Verbinden Sie die rote Messleitung mit der
Anode der zu testenden Diode und die
schwarze Messleitung mit der Kathode der
Diode.
4.Das Display zeigt den ungefähren
Durchlassspannungsabfall der Diode. Bei
umgekehrtem Anschluss wird “1” angezeigt.
Temperaturmessen
1.Stellen Sie den Bereichsschalter auf die
°C-Position.

2.Verbinden Sie den negativen ( – ) Stecker
des Thermoelements vom Typ K mit dem
COM-Anschluss und den positiven ( + )
Stecker des Thermoelements vom Typ K mit
dem -Anschluss.
3.Legen Sie das Fühlerende des
Thermoelements auf das zu messende
Objekt.
4.Warten Sie, bis sich der Messwert stabilisiert
hat, und lesen Sie dann den Messewert auf
dem Display ab.
HINWEIS: Zur Vermeidung von Schäden am
Messgerät oder anderen Geräten, denken Sie
daran, dass, obwohl das Messgerät von 0°C
bis +1000°C bewertet ist, das Thermoelement
vom Typ K, das mit dem Messgerät
geliefert wird, nur bis zu 250°C ausgelegt
ist. Bei Temperaturen außerhalb dieses
Bereichs müssen Sie ein höher bewertetes
Thermoelement besorgen und verwenden.

Mit der vorliegenden Einjahresgarantie
übernimmt Stanley Tools während eines
Jahres ab dem Kaufdatum die Garantie für

Le Multimètre STANLEY est un multimètre
numérique compact CAT III 300 V, 10 A pour
la prise de mesure de tensions électriques
CA et CC, de courant continu, de résistance,
de continuité, de polarité de diode et de
température. Il propose l’indication des
polarités, la conservation des données et les
indications de dépassement de plage.
Sécuritédel’utilisateur
AVERTISSEMENT : Lisez et
assimilez l’intégralité des
instructions avant d’utiliser le
produit. Tout manquement au respect de
toutes les instructions peut conduire à de
graves blessures ou la mort :
• CAT III – Ce multimètre de catégorie III est
prévu pour une utilisation sur des charges
installées de façon xe. Par exemple sur des
circuits de distribution, des disjoncteurs, des
ls et des équipements comme les moteurs
d’installations xes. N’utilisez pas l’appareil
pour prendre des mesures d’une catégorie
au dessus de la Catégorie III 300 V, 10 A.
• N’utilisezPASl’appareil s’il est endommagé.
Avant d’utiliser l’appareil, inspectez son
boîtier. Soyez particulièrement vigilant au
niveau de l’isolation autour des connecteurs.
• ContrôlezTOUJOURSque l’isolation des
ls de test n’est pas endommagée ou que
les ls de test n’ont aucune partie métallique
à découvert. Contrôlez la continuité des
ls de test. Remplacez les ls de test
endommagés avant d’utiliser l’appareil.

façon anormale. Il se peut que la protection
soit altérée.
• N’utilisezPASl’appareil en présence de
gaz, vapeurs ou poussières explosives.

Manuel d’utilisation
• Débranchez l’alimentation du circuit et
déchargez tous les condensateurs avant de
tester la résistance, les diodes, la continuité
et la température.
• Utilisez les terminaux nominaux appropriés
(fonction et plage) pour vos prises de
mesures. Les terminaux fournis avec ce
multimètre sont CAT III, prévus pour 300 V et
10 A max.
• Avant de mesurer un courant, coupez
l’alimentation du circuit avant même de
raccorder l’appareil au circuit. N’oubliez pas
de placer l’appareil en série avec le circuit.
• Avant de tourner l’interrupteur pour permuter
entre les fonctions, débranchez les ls de
test du circuit sous test.
