Introduction
The intention of this document is to provide
Stannah Midilift SL, highlighting key points and safety procedures and to ensure that the final
product runs safely, smoothly and efficiently.
This manual should be read in conjunction with th
General Arrangement Drawing and the Builder's Work Drawing.
Working on lifts can be dangerous and therefor
essential. British Standard BS7255 (2001 Code of Practice
recommends safe practices for those working on all types of lifts and should be referred to for
guidance.

1 SITE ARRIVAL
1.a On arrival at the site, the installer should make his presence known to the customer.
The installer must comply with any site safety procedures and regulations that are in force.
1.b Before commencing the installation, it is important to ensure that the power supply has
been fitted according to the requirements of the builder's work and electrical schedule. It is
important to check that:
i. The relative positions of the landing floor, power supply and route to the motor/pump
cabinet accord to the site plan.
ii. Lift travel, pit depth (if applicable) and headroom dimensions accord with the
arrangement drawing.
iii. An adequately clear working area, free from carpets and furniture, has been
provided in all areas in which the lift will travel.
iv. Piping or cables not related to the lift installation have been adequately protected or
re-routed away from the lift path.
v. All decor disturbed during the building work has been adequately made good.
vi. A dedicated single phase 240V power supply, terminating in a 10 amp switched
fuse spur unit, has been provided.
vii. All lift parts have been received and are not damaged.
Should any of the above be incorrect or not available, consult the installation manager.
1.c All carpet areas, walkways and any remaining furniture in the vicinity of the lift is to be
protected with dust sheets. Avoid any undue disruption.

2 MAIN FRAME ASSEMBLY
2.1 Lift base
Lay out the lower horizontal members close to the final position
Fix using 3 M8 fixings

2.2 Corner upright preparation
Before fitting door frame take approx measurement from top of door threshold to centre of
slot, apply this measurement to the corner upright (call station side) and pick next nearest
hole. Enlarge hole with step drill and de-burr. This is to allow cables to pass from the corner
upright into the door frame freely (see below).

2.4 Shaft panels
Slide the shaft panels and ‘H’ sections between the corner uprights. Fit horizontal members
and secure with M8 fixings. Note: ram support horizontal member is identifiable by 2
fixing holes which must be positioned off to the left by 50mm.
Move lift (if required) into its final position, check for level and square-ness. Packers maybe
used under the corner uprights and base plate to achieve this.

Loosely fit 3 M8x16 fixings to underside of door threshold, slide ramp in and tighten.

2.7 Cut panels for upper door
Following the diagram cut two lengths of extrusion and fit to corner uprights. Cut panel and
slide into extrusion. Fit door as shown in 2.1 & 2.2.

2.8 Door infill angle/plate (if required)
Before fitting upper doors check to see if a door infill angle/plate is required. The angle on its
own will span a gap of up to 20mm, whilst the extended plate can do up to 100mm.
In order to fit the angle to the door, remove cover plate and slacken off the 3 M8 bolts (which
hold the cross member to the door frame), slide in the infill angle and re-tighten M8 bolts. If a
larger gap is to be spanned then fix the extended plate to the angle using 4.8mm dome head
rivets.

3.5 Base fixings
After ensuring that the lift enclosure is correctly positioned, square and plumb, secure the
base of each corner upright to floor of the building with suitable fixings.
