Statesman does not take any responsibility for incorrect installation or usage of the
appliance.
•If this appliance is to replace an old one equipped with a lock, break or remove the lock
as a safety measure to avoid the danger of children becoming trapped inside.
•This appliance and old fridges and freezers which are being removed contain refrigerant
and must be handled in a way that the pipes at the back of the appliance are not
damaged during handling. In the event of refrigerant pipes being punctured, ventilate
the room and avoid naked flames or other ignition sources.
•Take care to prevent the electrical supply cable from being twisted, bent or trapped.
•Packaging materials, such as plastic bags and polystyrene should not be left within the
reach of children as they are a potential source of danger.
•WARNING: do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting
process.
•The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without
supervision.
•Do not use any electrical appliances inside the appliance.
•Keep the appliance ventilation areas free.

4
•Do not allow children to play with the appliance, put weight on the drawers or the door.
•Do not use adaptors or extension leads which could overheat and present a fire hazard.
•The power supply cable must be free of damage and protected from being damaged or
trapped during installation. If it becomes damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified
and authorised engineer.
RECOMMENDATIONS
•Do not plug in the appliance with wet hands.
•Avoid damaging the refrigerant circuit pipes.
•This appliance is only intended for use by responsible adults. Children or persons with
learning difficulties should be supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their
safety, as necessary.
•The power supply switch or plug must be accessible after installation.
•This appliance will not normally require defrosting as this occurs automatically.
However, should defrosting become necessary at any point, do not use electrical
devices such as a hair dryer and do not use sharp tools or implements to remove frost
build-up as this may damage the refrigerant system.
•Do not store glass or metal containers that contain liquids in the freezer as they may
break and create a hazard.
•Bottles of liquids with high alcohol content must be securely sealed and placed upright
in the fridge.
•Do not touch cooling surfaces in the freezer, especially with wet hands as this can
cause burning or damage to your skin.

or seal properly, causing cooling, frost, or moisture problems. It is very important of the
refrigerator to be level in order to function properly.
To level your refrigerator, you may either turn the front feet clockwise to raise that side
to the refrigerator or turn counter – clockwise to lower that side.
NOTE: Having someone push gently against the top of the refrigerator to take some

OPERATION
This appliance is designed to store fresh food in the fridge section and to store frozen food or
freeze fresh food in the freezer section.
When switching on for the first time, leave the appliance running on setting No. 6 for
approximately 24 hours before storing food. The thermostat should then be set according to
the instructions below.
THERMOSTAT SETTING
•
The recommended normal setting is position 3.
•
The thermostat automatically regulates the temperature inside both the fridge and
freezer compartments.
•
When the thermostat control knob is set to the ‘0ff’ position, this shows that the
thermostat is switched off and no cooling is achieved.
•
Rotating the control knob in the fridge compartment from setting ’1’ to ‘6’ will achieve
varying degrees of cooling in both the fridge and freezer compartments, with ‘6’ being
the coldest.
•
As a guide, the colder the setting, the longer food can be stored.
•
PLEASE NOTE that ambient temperature (room temperature), the temperature and
quantity of recently stored food and how often the door is opened, will all affect the
temperature inside the appliance.
FOOD STORAGE
Refrigerator compartment
•
The shelf positions in the fridge compartment can be changed to suit your requirements.
To remove a shelf, lift the rear edge before pulling it forwards and then downwards.
•
The temperature varies from one section of the fridge to another. The coldest part is
immediately above the salad drawers and near to the rear.
•
Do not place hot / warm food or liquids in the fridge compartment. Warm food and
liquids should be allowed to cool at room temperature and placed in the fridge with
adequate air circulation.

12
•
Meat and fish should be well wrapped and normally used within 1-2 days.
•
To reduce humidity and the consequent increase of frosting, do not store liquids in
unsealed containers.
•
Fruit and vegetables can be stored in the salad drawers without packaging.
Freezer compartment
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Some frost may build up in the freezer compartment over time, depending on humidity
and frequency of door being opened. This compartment should be defrosted periodically
before the ice build-up damages the compartments or the door.
To defrost, switch off the appliance and remove food to an alternative storage area.
Placing a bowl of warm water in the bottom of the freezer and leaving the door open will
accelerate the defrosting process.
DO NOT USE METAL OR SHARP OBJECTS TO ACCELERATE THE DEFROSTING
PROCESS. THIS COULD DAMAGE THE APPLIANCE AND THIS IS NOT COVERED
BY THE GUARANTEE.
When fully defrosted, wipe out interior with a solution of warm water and bicarbonate of
soda.
Switch on and leave for a few hours for temperature to drop in the freezer.
Replace food in freezer compartment.

SERVICE AND SPARE PARTS
Should you experience any difficulty using your appliance at any time, it may be an operational
problem and not a fault. Please check the following points before calling our customer services
team.
THE APPLIANCE IS NOT WORKING - Check that;
•
There is power to the appliance.
•
There is power to the socket being used.
•
The thermostat is set between 1 and 6 (not ‘0ff’).
•
The ambient temperature in the room is between 16 and 32 degrees Celsius. If the
ambient temperature falls below or rises above this temperature range, the appliance
may cut out and food could be lost. The appliance will resume normal operation when
the ambient temperature returns to normal.
THE APPLIANCE PERFORMS POORLY - Check that;
•
The thermostat is not set too low (e.g. 1 or 2)
•
The doors are closed properly.
•
The air ventilation holes are not obstructed.
THE APPLIANCE IS NOISY
•
The cooling gas which circulates in the cooling circuit may make a slight noise (e.g.
bubbling sound) even when the compressor is not running. Do not worry as this is quite
normal.
•
If there are other sounds, check that the appliance secure and level (not rocking).
•
Check that the appliance is not touching the surrounding walls which may amplify
normal compressor noise.
THERE IS WATER IN THE BOTTOM OR THE REFRIGERATOR
•
Check that the drain hole for the defrost water is not blocked. If it is, unblock with a pipe
cleaner or similar. Do not use a sharp metal object as this may damage the appliance.
If you have checked these points and still have a problem with your appliance or
require spare parts, call your retailer or contact our customer services team.
