INSTALLATION GUIDE

for the

SB-D-DRNGO3/13TW5

Thank you for choosing a JL Audio Stealthbox® for your automotive sound system.

With proper installation, your new vehicle-specific enclosed subwoofer system

will deliver years of listening pleasure.

We strongly recommend that you have your new Stealthbox® installed by your authorized

JL Audio dealer. The installation professionals employed by your dealer have the necessary tools

and experience to disassemble and reassemble your vehicle properly. Also, keep in mind that your

warranty coverage extends to 2 years if your system is installed or approved by

your authorized JL Audio dealer. If you prefer to perform your own installation,

please read this installation guide completely before beginning the process.

If you choose to perform the installation yourself, it is absolutely vital that

the Stealthbox®be properly mounted to the vehicle according to these

instructions. Failure to mount the enclosure properly presents two problems:

1) The sub-bass performance will suffer due to the movement of the enclosure

caused by the force exerted by the woofer(s).

2) A loose enclosure presents a serious safety hazard in the event of a collision

or sudden deceleration.

INSTALLATION

STEP 3

Carefully pull up on the cargo sill panel to release the clips.

Unplug the harness and remove the panel from the vehicle.

Remove the sensor from the panel.

STEP 2

Remove the floor panel from the vehicle, and open the jack

access door.

STEP 1

Empty out the cargo area so that you have a clean area to

work in.

STEP 7

Remove the cargo tub from the vehicle and unclip the rear

seat extension panel. Reinstall the two nuts removed in the

previous step.

STEP 11

Using a 1/4” -20 x 1” Bolt, a 1/4” Flat Washer, and a 1/4” Lock

Washer, attach the Left and Right Front Brackets to the

Stealthbox® as shown.

STEP 6

Remove the two nuts near the jack.

STEP 10

Attach the Center Bracket to the seat bracket using the

factory nut as shown. Do not tighten at this time.

STEP 5

Remove the nut holding the passenger side of the cargo tub

to the vehicle.

STEP 9

Remove the two nuts holding the front of the factory sub

enclosure to the vehicle. Unplug and remove the enclosure.

STEP 4

Remove the nut holding driver’s side of the cargo tub to the

vehicle.

STEP 8

Remove the nut holding the rear of the factory sub enclosure

to the vehicle.

STEP 15

Pictured is how the Front and Rear Trim Brackets will align

with the rear seat extension panel.

STEP 19

Tighten the factory nuts holding the Left and Right Front

Brackets to the vehicle. Reinstall the cargo sill panel. Reinstall

the floor panel and cargo cover.

STEP 14

Plug the sensor back in and secure it to the floor of the

vehicle using the double sided tape, as shown.

STEP 18

Pictured is the rear seat extension panel in place.

STEP 13

Swing the Center Bracket around and align it with the

threaded insert in the enclosure. Using a 3/8” - 16 x 1-1/4”

Hex Bolt, a 3/8” Flat Washer, and a 3/8” Split Lock Washer,

attach the Center Bracket to the enclosure. Do not tighten

at this time.

STEP 17

Using a straight edge, aligh the rear seat extension panel to

the top of the Stealthbox®, and firmly tighten the 1/4” - 20 x

1” Bolts. Tighten the 3/8” - 16 x 1-1/4” Hex Bolt holding the

Center Bracket to the enclosure, and tighten the factory nut

holding the Center Bracket to the vehicle.

STEP 12

Connect speaker wire to the Stealthbox,® and place it into

the vehicle, aligning the Left and Right Front Brackets over

the factory studs, as shown. Thread the factory nuts onto

the studs. Be sure the harness unplugged in Step 3 is still

accessable.

STEP 16

Align the rear seat extension panel and the Front and Rear

Trim Brackets to the threaded inserts in the back of the

Stealthbox®. Using a 1/4” - 20 x 1” Bolt, a 1/4” Flat Washer, and

a 1/4” Lock Washer, attach the panel to the enclosure.

POWER RECOMMENDATION

JL Audio recommends high quality ampliers such as the JL Audio HD900/5, 500/1v2 or XD600/1.

The diagram below shows the recommended crossover settings for the XD600/1. If another amplier is being

used, please reference this illustration and use similar settings on that amplier.

All JL Audio ampliers are very versatile audio components. Please consult the owner’s manual for even more

detailed information about installing and tuning your amplier.

CONNECTIONS

Using quality power, signal, and speaker wire is essential in ensuring the performance of your Stealthbox®.

JL Audio recommends using a 4 AWG power kit such as the XD-PCS4-1B for your Stealthbox® amplier. Other

kits are available should you be using more than one amplier. Signal wire such as the JL Audio Premium

Audio Interconnect Cables should be used that will provide signal for both channels of the amplier. JL Audio

reccommends using 12AWG speaker wire for subwoofers such as our XC-BCS12-25.

MID/HIGH FREQUENCY DRIVER FITMENT

A variety of JL Audio coaxial and component systems will t in the factory speaker locations of you vehicle.
