WHAT’S IN THE BOX AND TOOLS REQUIRED
COMPATIBILITY
Your MAESTRO controller• thermostat can control electric baseboards, convectors and fan-forced heaters.
IMPORTANT: This controller• thermostat is not compatible with:
• Systems with inductive loads
• Central heating systems
• Systems with resistive loads that are:
o inferior to 260 W at 208 VAC or 300 W at 240 VAC
o superior to 3400 W at 208 VAC or 4000 W at 240 VAC

To install your controller
•thermostat, you will need:

Before installing and operating this controller• thermostat, the owner and/or installer must read, understand and follow these
instructions and keep them handy for future reference. If these instructions are not followed, the warranty will be considered
null and void and the manufacturer deems no further responsibility for this product. Moreover, the following instructions must
be adhered to in order to avoid personal injuries or property damages, serious injuries and potentially fatal electric shocks.
All electric connections must be made by a qualied electrician, according to the electric and building codes effective in your
region.
• Do NOT connect this product to a supply source other than 208 VAC or 240 VAC, and do not exceed the load limits specied.
• Protect the heating system with the appropriate circuit breaker or fuse. You must regularly clean dirt accumulations on the
controller• thermostat.
• Do NOT use uid to clean controller• thermostat air vents.
• Do NOT install controller• thermostat in a wet place or on an external wall. However, installing it in isolated walls is allowed.
To avoid any risk of overheating, leave a clearance of at least 12 in. around the controller• thermostat to ensure proper
ventilation.
• Make sure that the air vents at the bottom and top of the controller•thermostat housing are clear of any obstruction:
blocked air vents can lead to the unit overheating and affect its operation.
NOTE: °STELPRO reserves the right to modify its product without notice to improve operability. Therefore, the instructions in
this user guide many not entirely match all the functions of your controller• thermostat. To obtain the most recent documen-

The MAESTRO controller• thermostat can function on its own, but it offers more options when used with MAESTRO thermos-
tats and the MAESTRO app. By using the complete MAESTRO system, you’ll benet from maximum comfort, exibility and
energy savings.

WHERE TO INSTALL YOUR MAESTRO CONTROLLER•THERMOSTAT
The controller• thermostat allows you to control the other MAESTRO thermostats in your home. Install it in a room that is
central, for example the main living area of your home, where it will be easily accessible. Since the controller• thermostat also
serves as a thermostat, it will control the temperature of this room.
You must install the controller• thermostat at approximately 5 ft. from the oor, on an indoor wall that faces the heating system.
The controller• thermostat must be mounted on an electrical box.
ATTENTION : To avoid any risk of overheating, leave a clearance of at least 12 in. around the controller• thermostat to ensure
proper ventilation. Also, the front of the unit should be completely clear of any obstruction to ensure optimal functionality. For
example, do not install the controller• thermostat behind curtains or furniture.
To avoid getting false temperature measurements, do not install the controller•thermostat in any of the following locations:
• Near a window or close to a door leading outside
• In an area exposed directly to the light or heat of the sun, a lamp, a replace or any other heat source
• Near an air outlet
• Near concealed ducts or a chimney
• Where there is poor air ow (e.g. behind a door)
• Where there is a high concentration of dust
• Where there are frequent air drafts (e.g. top of stairs)

Take full advantage of your MAESTRO controller• thermostat by also using the MAESTRO thermostats and the MAESTRO
mobile app. Using the complete MAESTRO system enables you to create your own ecosystem in your home and control it at
any time, from anywhere.
FOUR STEPS TO MANAGING THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME
1INSTALL YOUR MAESTRO CONTROLLER
•THERMOSTAT
Follow the instructions in this guide to install your MAESTRO controller• thermostat. Don’t forget that your
controller• thermostat also serves as a thermostat for the room in which it is installed.
2INSTALL YOUR MAESTRO THERMOSTATS
Now install your MAESTRO thermostats. For instructions on how to do this, read the thermostat’s installation and
user guide. To maintain full control over the temperature of your home, you must have a thermostat in each room.
NOTE: A MAESTRO thermostat can control up to 4,000 watts.

3INSTALL THE MAESTRO APP AND CREATE YOUR MAESTRO ACCOUNT
Download and install the MAESTRO app available for free in the App StoreTM or on Google PlayTM.
After installing the app, create your user account. Once your MAESTRO network is set up, you will be able to control
your MAESTRO system with any mobile device that is connected to this account.
NOTE: Since only one account can control your MAESTRO system, use an email address and password
that you can share with those who will need to manage your MAESTRO system.
4BUILD YOUR MAESTRO NETWORK
Follow these steps to build your MAESTRO network:
1- Connect the controller•thermostat to your Wi-Fi network (see page 18).
2- In the MAESTRO app, enter the registration code displayed on the controller• thermostat screen to create a home.
3- In the MAESTRO app, the “Connect a thermostat to my MAESTRO system” feature will activate and set the controller•ther-
mostat in thermostat pairing mode (see www.stelpro.com/en-US/support-maestro for more details on how to use
the MAESTRO app).
4- Connect the thermostats to the controller•thermostat, one at a time (see the “Connecting a thermostat to the control-
ler• thermostat” section on page 20).
5- Once the connection is complete, the thermostat will appear in the MAESTRO app. Take this opportunity to give it a
name that will be easily recognizable.
NOTE: In your network, each thermostat is connected to the controller • thermostat via a thermostat that
is located nearby. You therefore need to connect your thermostats starting with the one closest to the
controller • thermostat and gradually working outwards. You may need a Zigbee repeater to get around
obstacles or to strengthen the Zigbee signal.

1CUT OFF POWER SUPPLY
To avoid any risk of electric shock, cut off the power supply on the lead wires from the electrical panel. Make sure the
power is off by checking, for example, that the heating system remains off even if the setpoint temperature is higher
than the ambient temperature (mechanical thermostat).

INSTALLATION OF THE CONTROLLER • THERMOSTAT MUST BE DONE BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.

2REMOVE EXISTING THERMOSTAT
If an existing thermostat is being replaced, please follow these steps:
NOTE: These instructions apply to a thermostat with a °STELPRO mounting plate.
1- Loosen the screw at the base of the thermostat, without completely removing it, to separate the thermostat from the
mounting plate.
2- Gently pull the thermostat to gain access to the wires.
3- Disconnect the thermostat wires from those of the heating system and power supply.
4- Remove the mounting plate.

3SECURE THE MAESTRO CONTROLLER• THERMOSTAT MOUNTING PLATE
Secure the MAESTRO controller• thermostat mounting plate to the electrical box using the screws supplied.
1- Loosen the screw at the base of the MAESTRO controller• thermostat, without completely removing it, until the control-
ler• thermostat and the mounting plate are no longer holding together.
2- Slide the mounting plate downward and then pull on it to separate it from the controller• thermostat.
3- Using the mounting screws supplied (2), secure the MAESTRO controller• thermostat mounting plate to the electrical
box. Ensure the plate is perfectly straight so that the controller• thermostat is also straight.
4- Pass the power supply wires through the large opening at the centre of the mounting plate.
NOTE: You can position the mounting plate either to the left, in the centre or to the right of the electrical box,
according to your needs. (See image below).

4CONNECT THE WIRES
Using the caps supplied (2), connect the wires of the MAESTRO controller• thermostat to those of the heating system
and power supply according to the corresponding connection diagram (2 or 4 wires). Tighten the caps onto the wires
to ensure the connection is secure. Then place all the wires inside the electrical box.
NOTE: If the electrical wires are aluminum, use
CO/ALR connectors instead (not supplied).
NOTE: Since controller• thermostat wires do not
have polarity, the way they are connected is not
important.

5SECURE THE CONTROLLER • THERMOSTAT ON THE MOUNTING PLATE
Align and secure the controller• thermostat on the mounting plate.
1- Ensure the air vents in the controller• thermostat are clean and clear of any obstruction.
2- Align the slot on the top of the controller• thermostat with the slot on the mounting plate.
3- Then secure the controller• thermostat to the mounting plate making sure that the wires do not get pinched between
the unit and the mounting plate.
4- Tighten the screw at the base of the controller• thermostat to secure it in place.

6TURN POWER BACK ON
Restore power to the heating system and controller• thermostat. Then ensure the controller•thermostat turns on.
If the controller• thermostat does not turn on, touch the screen. The controller• thermostat should turn on. If it
doesn’t, read the “Controller• thermostat troubleshooting” section on page 39.
Once installed, the controller• thermostat will prompt you to choose a language, temperature format, time format
and heat mode. If the temperature is below 32 °F, the home screen will display Cold. If the temperature exceeds
122 °F, the screen will display Hot.

CONTROLLING YOUR MAESTRO SYSTEM WITH THE MAESTRO APP
If you wish to use the MAESTRO app to control the temperature of your home from wherever you are, you must connect your
controller• thermostat to your home’s Wi-Fi network and register the controller• thermostat in the MAESTRO app. You will then
be able to enjoy all the advantages of the MAESTRO system.
NOTE: Before registering your controller • thermostat, you must rst download the MAESTRO app and create your
user account.
CONNECTING THE CONTROLLER • THERMOSTAT TO YOUR
WI-FI NETWORK AND REGISTERING IT IN THE MAESTRO APP
1- Access SETTINGS > WI-FI SETUP.
2- Tap SCAN NETWORKS. The control-
ler• thermostat will search for available
Wi-Fi networks and display them in the
NETWORKS screen.
3- In the NETWORKS screen, select your
home’s Wi-Fi network.
4- In the PASSWORD screen, enter the
password for your Wi-Fi network, then
tap CONNECT to connect the control-
ler• thermostat to the Wi-Fi network.

5- A message will appear on the WI-FI SETUP screen informing you that the connection has been established. Tap OK to conrm
the connection. The registration code of your controller• thermostat will appear in the REGISTRATION screen.
6- Enter the code in the MAESTRO app when prompted by the app’s start-up wizard.
Once your home is registered, you can start connecting your thermostats.
OBTAINING THE REGISTRATION CODE FOR THE CONTROLLER • THERMOSTAT
If you do not register your controller• thermostat in the MAESTRO app immediately after connecting to your Wi-Fi network,
you will need to follow these steps to obtain your registration code. For example, you may need to obtain the registration
code when a MAESTRO system changes owners.
1- Access SETTINGS > WI-FI SETUP>REGISTER DEVICE. A message will display on the controller• thermostat REGISTRATION
screen informing you that your request for a registration code is being processed. When obtained, the registration code
will appear on the screen.
2- Enter the code in the MAESTRO app when the start-up wizard prompts you. When your home is registered, you can start
connecting your thermostats (see “Connecting a thermostat to the controller• thermostat” on page 20).

CREATING YOUR HOME’S MAESTRO NETWORK
Your controller• thermostat communicates with the MAESTRO thermostats through a Zigbee network for which it is the coordinator.
To create your MAESTRO account, you must connect your thermostats to the MAESTRO controller•thermostat. Make sure to
connect the thermostat closest to the MAESTRO controller thermostat rst and then each of the other thermostats by gradually
working outwards.
CONNECTING A THERMOSTAT TO THE CONTROLLER• THERMOSTAT
With the MAESTRO app
NOTE: To connect a thermostat to the MAESTRO controller • thermostat using the MAESTRO app, your controller • ther-
mostat must be linked to a Wi-Fi network (see page 18). You may need a Zigbee repeater to get around obstacles or
to strengthen the Zigbee signal.
1- In the MAESTRO app, access HOME SETTINGS, from the groups and settings
screen, and tap CONNECT A THERMOSTAT TO MY MAESTRO SYSTEM. The
screen ADD A NEW THERMOSTAT on the controller• thermostat will display
the Zigbee channel being used.
2- On the thermostat, access menu 1 and select the channel displayed by the
controller• thermostat. You can also use the auto-connect option (ON), but the
connection may take more time.
3- On the thermostat, tap the icon to conrm the selection. The icon will
blink rapidly while the thermostat searches for the channel. The Zigbee channel
will appear when the connection is established.
When the thermostat is connected to the controller• thermostat’s Zigbee network:
• The icon will appear on the thermostat home screen.
• A message conrming the connection will appear on the controller• thermostat’s screen.
• The MAESTRO app will show that the thermostat has been successfully connected and the thermostat will appear in
the app. You can now replace the default name of each thermostat by a meaningful name that is easily recognizable
(e.g. bathroom).
If the thermostat does not detect a Zigbee network, an "Err" message will display on the thermostat.
